I get that. One of the very first things i said here was good music is available if you know where to look. Most people dont know, even if they have Spotify, etc.

I am not referring to people who search for and listen to music as a hobby. (Most people dont). I am talking about most people who enjoy good music, but don't have the time or patience to go looking for it. The days of good music regularly coming to you in daily life have declined regularly year after year. Instead, we are subjected to the repetitive homologous junk that plays on commercials, movies, music radio, talk radio, podcasts, games, other people's cars, and places of business. Tough to unplug from that.

Yeah, might as well stop now because we'll just talk in circles.

          Uncommon Opinions

You don’t have to “try hard” to find new good music. In fact, most music is released on Friday and by the time you do the triple S in the morning, Spotify has added all the new releases on the home page. It takes me three minutes to scroll through the week’s major releases.

Now smaller acts are harder to track, but if you’re a fan of general rock music just check it Friday while you sit on the porcelain throne and boom, new Courtney Barnett and Parquet Courts album that you can start as you take a shower.

Also Spotify’s Discover Weekly recommends artists you probably haven’t heard of that are representative of your genres and even the Your Daily Mixes will sneak in new stuff for you while playing your favorites.

And for what it’s worth, a rock album (Parquet Courts’ Wide Awake) is my front runner for album of the year.

I misquoted him. I left off the "er." He implied we must "try harder." I said today's popular music is so bad that many people have to try harder to find good music, because otherwise we would have to suffer through the crap they pump out of every available voice. I have a lot of newer music that i like saved on Spotify, because of this very reason.

I dont really want to have do anything more than turn the car radio station from listening to the sports station to the rock station to listen to music. but the simple days are gone. I find good music now by searching it out over the internet but I doubt we see tons of great bands that put out lots of material (from the beatles to the stones to led Zeppelin queen aerosmith pink floyd zz top acdc u2 the who metallica black sabbath) that you can channel surf in your car while driving are gone. at least for the time being. a lot of the new music I find that I like nowadays are from bands that I only like 3 or 4 of their songs and its back to searching for newer bands because the old new band doesnt either exist anymore or their quality doesnt cut it anymore.

And there's the other problem that you come across when people say things like this. You just tried to compare the entire mix of today's music against 10 legendary bands. While completely ignoring all the crap music that was made in that era - and there was a lot of it!

None of you are saying anything new.

I've never heard of those bands you are referring to. But as far as the post as a whole, i agree. I would much rather just be able turn on the radio and hear some good new music. Googling those bands now.

Actually the difference was, in that era, is at least a few times an hour you got to hear a good song.

I mean, I find good music but I have to do the programming if I want to hear good new music. I can no longer leave it in the hands of radio stations. I think that has to do with the fact there are a lot more bands to search through than there used to be and it didnt take long for the cream of the crop to rise to the the top. now, the good bands have harder time getting recognized by the masses

Im not. i said today's sucky music is pervasive and you cant get away from it. Its horrible. I said todays music sucks unless you know where to look. You said im not trying hard enough. Lol.

You act like insulted you. Its nothing personal,
You didn't do it. Todays popular music sucks, and actually its really not all that uncommon of opinion, even from this generation.

I bet Snowmonkey doesnt know who the Yankees or Lakers are either. (google wont tell you but they are a couple of Peruvian flute bands). for starters, I recommend the Lakers ''The King and I'' , and from the Yankees, ''Moneyshot'' . And as a bonus, no Nolan Ryan fan should be without a hit from Chicago's Ventura Boulevard
