Re: Uncommon Opinions
Guy just said he did not know the names of any of the Beatles. I agree, that's pretty strange.
Seriously overthinking this whole thing. Can we all just move on ? I like this thread. I don't like discussing the Beatles or whether or not someone is "bragging" about not knowing something.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
This might be because my AP 12 English teacher is a huge MacBeth fan and I have to read/analyze/write about the damn thing over the summer, but...
Shakespeare is no longer socially relevant in today's world, and should not be read in schools as widely as it is.Football: Denver Broncos

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Seriously, I think I am getting caught up in the Opinion part of this thread.
Saying you don't like Shakespeare would be an uncommon opinion. I could even go along with saying Shakespeare can be rather unenjoyable when the archaic language gets in the way.
But to say it isn't "relevant"...I am having a hard time with that phrasing.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Cormac McCarthy has a particular work more socially relevant (such as The Road, google it) IMO.
But its really about budget saving issues and sentimentals keeping Shakespeare as a part of the (required?) curriculum.
Nonetheless, Shakespeare is a great playwright and many literary concepts are still borrowed from his works. So he's still somewhat relevant in that he's still influencing plays, books, and movies today. So I kinda agree, and kinda disagree.
Wow, this post was a whole bunch of waffling wasn't it?

I apologize for saying I'm not a big fan of the Beatles, I didn't know that it'd spark a ridiculous and uninteresting debate.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus
