I really think a lot of people have no idea that this is a second plane. They just think it's another rumor about where the first Malaysian Airlines plane ended up.

The world as a whole is more desensitized and apathetic than I can ever recall at any point. Nobody gives a **** about anything anymore.

Are you talking about the world, or OS? I don't think the discussion can really happen here on OS because it will quickly become political. The rest of the world seems to be doing nothing BUT talk about this…not sure what you've been watching.

Im not talking about people talking about it, they've been doing that alot (which will last for 3-5 more days tops at which point they'll lose interest).

It seems like Governments around the world have universally put out statements saying that they "condemn" what happened. I should hope that you condemn the murder of 298 people. What are they actually DOING though?

I don't think anyone wants to touch that, globally or here on OS due to TOS.

It was a good run, Malaysian Airlines.

I don't know how anyone could get on a Malaysian Airlines flight without being totally anxious for the whole flight. Might not be fair to them, but that's the way I'd be.

The easy response to that is: Well, what are the odds that it's going to happen again?! That's exactly what the people on this plane were thinking

Same thing happened to TWA. To be fair to Malaysian Airlines they have handled this tragedy as well as they could have.

Some of the "theories" coming out of Russia regarding what happened to MH17 are just downright ridiculous. Especially this one.

THE RUSSIAN TAKE: The passengers were already dead

Rebel commander Igor Girkin suggested that many of MH17's passengers were corpses -- already dead -- and put aboard the 11-plus-hour flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Those claims were made on Russia's Russkaya Vessna website.

"A significant number of the bodies weren't fresh," Girkin said he'd learned, adding, their blood had been drained.

He also reportedly claimed a vast amount of blood serum and medications were discovered in the wreckage.

THE WORLD'S TAKE: The information contradicts the Malaysia Airlines passenger manifest for Flight 17 that lists the 298 people who were alive when they boarded the regularly scheduled flight. For instance, Dutch passenger Pim de Kuijer was on his way to an International AIDS Conference in Australia -- a trip that was to be followed by a backpacking excursion there. The day of the crash, de Kuijer posted to his Facebook page a picture of him posing beneath aviator sunglasses and sporting a large travelers' backpack.

Saw a blurb where a Russian (female) reporter quit RT in light of Russia's "alternate" explanations. Not sure where she ended up.

Unless we're prepared for WWIII sadly there's not a lot that can be done outside of "harsh sanctions" which the EU would probably never follow through on because of their dependency on Russian gas.
