Drones have a limited range......You will still need a ship in the area to launch the drone from. It would be cheaper to just use helicopters and regular planes launched from a ship because they can stay in the air a hell of a lot longer then a drone can.

Hack the transponder to send a "legit" signal, load it up with explosives and fuel, and send it off somewhere.

Hopefully Ding Chavez and the rest of the Rainbow team will get there in time to stop the takeoff!

Now they are saying that the data reporting system and the transponder where shut down "systematically" and and 14 minutes apart...indicating that there wasn't a catastrophic explosion.

I'm all for jokes and what not but I am failing to see any humor in this story.

No matter the outcome, this is a sad situation for the victims and families and potentially very scary if this is an act of terrorism...

Keeps getting weirder. Wouldn't you need a decent sized area or runway/air strip to land a plane of this size?

At this rate and how this story is headed it wouldn't shock me if my joke came true.

I do feel sincerely sorry for all those involved and their families, just trying to lighten the mood a bit.

No matter what this one of the most interesting, bizarre, and creepy stories in quite some time.

Landing isn't a problem usually. There are terrorist friendly countries that the plane could easily reach.

There is also some theories that this was a test to see how quickly the plane could be tracked/found. The USA says that they found the ping to sats, but this info couldn't be released and was only given off the record.

Why would something like this be a secret if everyone at Boeing knows it happens.

The fact that no one has claimed anything does show that it wasn't terrorist or something else is planned.

There are a lot of strange questions. Unless they are totally in the wrong area, it doesn't look like it crashed/destroyed over water. They would have found luggage or plane parts floating.

Unless the "repurposing" theory that has been speculated is actually happening. That would be a new tactic and would fall in line with no one claiming responsibility. That notion is a little too "movie" for me, but you know what? So was 9/11 before it actually happened. I wouldn't be surprised by anything anymore.

I dunno. I don't know what to think. I really don't. Not really one to buy into elaborate theories about things. I'm much more inclined to believe that it was "just" "simple" mechanical/electrical error. But who knows.
