I'm glad that the previous problem was so much more entertaining... and stupid.

The point is, with this problem or the other, this is a problem of students being taught incorrectly.

        Because of basic fundamental operations?

That decision sounds like something to diagnose in itself.

Damn my high school math teacher was right when he told me that the reason I need to learn how to do equations and operational math was because I may be presented with it in the real world!

Thank you Mr. Cleveland. Even though it was already answered when I got here, I knew the correct answer to Maj's math problem because you made me learn.

                  re: Off-Topic

I'm an extremely light sleeper and can rarely sleep more than a few hours at a time so I have a 2 a.m. ritual where most mornings I sit on the porch for about 20 minutes. Well, I live out in the boondocks and for about the last month or so I have developed a COYOTE problem. For awhile, when I came outside this coyote would immediately run back into the woods. Then it got to where he wouldn't leave just because I came outside so I started stomping on the porch or hollering at him. That did the trick for awhile but eventually he got where even that wouldnt scare him off. We used to have neighbors with dogs but for now there are no dogs around so I figure this is why he's hanging around. I dont own a gun and I dont want to kill him anyways if I did. I also dont want to get a dog(s) either. I wonder how/if I can trap trap him somehow and safely remove him. Thoughts/suggestions? Other than "be careful" lol

Sarcasm aside, TheShiz is right... for calculations, use a calculator.

There are various other reasons to learn math, just like how working out isn't simply for entering bodybuilding competitions.

Anyway to get motion sensor lights and see if that helps?

Other than that who knows lol.

I've tried getting rid of Raccoons from my yard for years and tried everything. Things stores sell, used pepper, garlic, ammonia, all of it, didn't seem to be 100% effective(they got smart to point where it was almost like they figured out how to navigate through the maze of smell and find the "sweet spot" they could get to).

I have motion censor lights on my deck and just have those on and so far it seems fine, haven't had any in weeks. I also got a mat with plastic spikes in it so if they did step on it they wouldn't get hurt, but would feel it enough to not want to come back. Wolves probably way too big or smart for that.

Those posts go viral and usually only about 25% of the responders get it right.

And then everyone fights over which answer is right over something we were taught in grade school.

You're question is boring because it's difficult and even most adults couldn't figure it out on their own.

Fair enough, though I think most people who have heard of absolute value have their version of an answer, and 99% would say "true" based on their knowledge and be incorrect in the process.

I guess the explanation as to why wouldn't be of their vested interest, though.

Then how about 0^0 (zero raised to the zeroth power)? If people don't know their exponential properties very well they might say 0, and if people think they have a general handle of their exponential properties they might say 1... both of which are incorrect.
