I’m thinking with GameStop maybe wait till it drops back down to the $20 range and hope a similar thing happens again.
If it drops that low, I don't expect it to do a crazy rise for a while.

I'm comfortable holding my stocks unless I can see a large predictive pattern hit for something, which is why I wanted to try with GameStop and would like to try with AMC Entertainment.

I woke up to AMC trending on twitter because of the stock and it opened at $20. Its dropped and as of it 10 eastern time its currently at $11.60 and trending down.

I had the order in my cart at $19 when it opened and just couldn't take the risk

I decided against AMC when I saw the plunge and tried GameStop, which is fluctuating but is now trending downward.

I was up $12,348.20 early on and told myself $3,000 more and I'd bail (because I have to get ready for the day). It hasn't seen close to that since, and currently I'm down $7,614.52.

        I don't like this game.

EDIT: I just tried to sell when I was up $5,000, but it's not letting me? I'm trying to sell a market order, but it keeps stating it's below the bidding price.

What price did you pay for it? Its at $282 now so its trending up a little. I always just put a a limit order in so it will auto sell at a certain price

Can't remember the numbers, but I sold below and now it's soaring again because I wasn't seeing a climb.

              Re: OS stock investing thread

I think it's just safe to say that I didn't play this right at all. I accidentally sold when I didn't try to (I was trying to preview order and instead it placed order) then it spiked, and I tried to hit a "get out" price because I thought I made my money back and my account doesn't show as such. I'm still down $5000 on the day.

EDIT: Okay, I salvaged my money. I'm back where I was with the recent climb. Hit perfectly. I'm done lol.

EDIT: I wasn't done, and went back to AMC when I saw the climb after GameStop started lowering. Lost my money again. No wonder why people freak out over this stuff.

Thankfully (or not), these fluctuate so much that I have a slight shot of regaining it back when I have a chance to.

I use etrade. I decided to buy 600 shares of AMC at $14 and its currently at $16. So if it stays up I may just cash out at the end of the day.

I keep buying when something peaks (of course I don't know this), and then when it plummets I freak out and sell, then it stabilizes to by showing a steady climb and I try and get that money back, then it falls again. Rinse and repeat.

I'm going to finish today down $10,000 (or more) if I'm not careful. I'm on AMC right now but I bought at $16.84 and right now it's down at $16.17.

I love all my "what-ifs" by making millions, but here is the unfortunate price that I'm paying with the overnight trading and everything peaking. I should've left it alone after I got my money back earlier today.

That's tough. I have been thinking about creating a Robinhood account and at least have it set for later. Brave new world what these Reddit guys are doing to the shorters.

Yeah, as they say, stock investing is gambling, just at a more expensive casino. Like a good session at the craps tables, you gotta be able to tolerate some pretty wide swings in fortune.

Be careful out there, fellas! I've seen the day-trading mania cycle happen at least twice now in my lifetime, and it ended the same way every time....Just remember: no one ever went broke taking a profit.

Now, back to my scanning of the markets....

One of the things encouraging the gamestop surge is that there are A LOT of calls set to expire on Friday. If things go perfectly then that would be the time to sell.

Things rarely go perfectly and the administration is "monitoring" the situation. Never be scared to take your winnings and walk away.

Did you sell? After hours have an initial nosedive for both AMC and GameStop, even though they both ended on a good high in the last couple of hours.

I decided to risk it and hang on. I have some margin for error as I paid $13.94 for my 600 shares so I'm up 42%. The safe thing would have been to take the $3,500 profit but I want to see if I can get that gamestop increase tomorrow lol

Gamestop people think won't even get truly crazy until Friday. I bought in a few shares as a straight gamble. I'm all in (with what I put in) through Friday.
