Whoever invented those things should be jailed for life. Or be given the chair. Either way, those things are a crime against humanity.

screamin' hot veggie puffs are good, not sure if they're actually better for you than any of the other hot snacks, but flavor wise I give them a thumbs up

some of these health snacks are weird to me, like, they're not healthy, they're pretty much the same thing but more expensive, and still based on the same things as the old snacks

Why bother with initials? Just sign with an "X". LOL.

Yeah, I don't get it either. If you're going to snack, then eat a snack. If not, refrain. But eating a snack that isn't really any better for you that tastes 100x worse just seems like a total lose-lose solution to me.

While the signature won't generally matter much the only thing I would caution about either method is that if you ever have to file a dispute for an in person POS transaction, you will have a difficult time being on the favorable side of a dispute assuming the fraudster is making a legitimate effort at signing your name.

That is unless you signed your signature card with just an X or your initials.

(In this day and age this is primarily aimed at debit cards tied to a checking account rather than CC's which are mostly booked online these days).

When we look at disputes, we look at history with the merchant as well as signatures.

(This is strictly related to fraud claims obviously, not disputing a $100 charge that should have been $80.)

That makes a lot of sense. Good tip!

Just to clarify - while I was just joking about the "X", your recommendation is to actually sign your name (as you would on any other document), vs. initials or an "X", because it may help if there is a dispute or fraud case?

Summer time which means vacation time for many. Whether it be for a single day, weekend, long weekend, week or more, it's always nice to get out.

But I definitely hate the period once you get back home and have to readjust to normal life. It's not even so much missing the things that I was doing on vacation, but moreso missing the things I didnt have to do or think about while on vacation.

I've never been off on some trip for more than a week in ages, and I can't imagine what it must feel like when people come back. I find the longer I'm gone, the harder it makes coming back.

I guess it depends on the city/neighborhood as well.

My neighborhood has 2 malls. 1 was a big one, the other was a smaller one (a Zellers, which was Canadian equivalent of Walmart, a Radio Shack, and then some small stores and services). The smaller one is still open, although it's mostly dead because the main store closed, and theres really nothing else to do there. I'm surprised it hasn't been demolished ages ago and them doing the new thing of condos on top and stores on the bottom.

As for the bigger one, they redesigned it and it's now busier than before (and it was already busy before). I rarely went beforehand, and still rarely ever go. Thankfully the store I go to you can get to from its own entrance outside, so I can avoid the crowds (but still have to deal with the mall parking lots, although this one is further from the main parking areas so it helps at times).

I hate going to malls though, if its dead, it means stores probably aren't worth it. If it has good stores, it's probably too crowded.

Pretty much never, but I was there a few weeks ago (Ross Park Mall). I bought something online that I wanted to return, and the company I bought from is part of this returns drop-off program at participating locations, which happened to include the mall. The customer service desk was unstaffed for like an hour and a half after the stated opening time, so that was meh.

But I like the mall, it smells good. It is cool to see something you like, buy it, and take it home all in one go. But I'm generally very selective about things, so I just stay online where you can see the broadest selection.

Pretty sure the Ross Park mall is the only one here that still has any relevance whatsoever. The Robinson mall is now basically just the department stores on the corners and that's about it.

Ross Park is in a good location and in a pretty good part of town which is probably the only thing keeping it still as a good option when needed. There is the smaller one in the South Hills (can't think of the name atm) that still has some good options but it's such a pain to get down there that I won't touch it.

one of my news updates today said my local mall sold at auction for $10.8M, I don't really understand the point of buying a mall right now, maybe buy low and hope for a recovery?

this whole area is turning into storage city, maybe they'll demolish it and build even more storage units to make this the storage capital of the world

it's weird, everything around here is turning into storage units, even my building had to tear down the balcony on the back because it crossed the line of property that was purchased to build storage units

The mall closest to me looks pretty healthy - not a lot of empty storefronts and there's usually a decent amount of people going around. I just rarely have a reason to go there. If anything I'll run to the Target or Best Buy there, but those are both on the same end so I never really keep going into the full mall.
