the only time I go to a mall is for Books-a-Million, Barnes & Noble, or Lids

and right now those trips are at once every 3-4 weeks, though up until relatively recently, that was weekly

I don't visit the mall very often, but I do go a couple times during the Christmas holiday season. I enjoy the festive decorations and the hustle and bustle of people trying to find gifts for their loved ones. Its more so the feeling/atmosphere versus that of shopping.

I wish we still had a bookstore here. One of the anchor stores was Borders, they went out of business. Also had a Walden Books.

Our local mall growing up had Walden Books and I would always go get the Baseball, College Football, College Basketball, and Pro Football yearly preview magazines from them. Sadly its been gone around these parts for the better part of 20 years.

We have Books-A-Million, Half Price Books, and Barnes & Noble still in my area.

There is the smaller one in the South Hills (can't think of the name atm) that still has some good options but it's such a pain to get down there that I won't touch it.
            South Hills Village?

Also used to have the now defunct Century III mall. I would always hang out at EB/Gamestop and get a churro at the New York Pretzel kiosk. Used to be super busy especially around the holidays but started declining in the late 90s and was pretty much empty and falling apart by the time it was finally closed a few years ago at which point only a couple anchor stores were left.

If you’re bored and haven’t seen it give “Abandoned - Century III Mall” on you tube a watch. Pretty cool.

I love book stores. The nearest one to me is probably over an hour away but we go sometimes.

Some more Pittsburgh lore. Not sure if anybody remembers the hepatitis outbreak at a Chi-Chis years ago that probably helped put a nail in their corporate coffin, but that happened at Clearview Mall.

I loved that Chi-Chis! We went there many times.

so in NYC, a theatre is considered "Broadway" if it seats over 500, "Off Broadway" is 100-499 seating and less than 100 seats is ''off off Broadway''. therefore, if I put on a one man show in NYC with zero seating and zero in attendance, exception myself, is that considered ''off off off Broadway''?

                          Re: Off-Topic

Covid nearly killed the mall near me. It went from a bustling place with lots of stores and a movie theater to essentially a Rural King and an indoor walking area.

A company bought the property last year to convert it into a convention/entertainment/sports complex. They kept Rural King, they renovated the movie theater (plus they serve alcohol and restaurant food now), numerous restaurants have moved in, and an "indoor theme park" that is essentially Dave and Buster's on steroids (restaurant/massive arcade/go-karts/mini golf/laser tag/bowling/indoor roller coaster).

                          It's nice to see.

Ours is still completely full of the same stores that it has always had. But that’s because:

                              - It’s the only true mall here
                              - It has stores that people actually want to go to
                              - It has the best location it possibly could
                              - People from around the region (even as far as Thunder Bay, Ontario) actually make trips specifically to go there.

I go there a few times a month and it is always full of people.
