So the wife and I decided on a no contact rule for now. I'm gonna sleep in a different room as well. We aren't gonna go nuts to the point of staying 10 feet away from each other when she is home, our house isn't big enough for that. But we are gonna reasonably distance ourselves.

That's tough, but big. Best of luck.

Checking in from Los Angeles. We're currently under a "safer at home" order, which is probably one step removed from "shelter-in-place" and two from "don't leave your house at all for any reason".

Professionally I'm basically unaffected; I have been working remote full-time now since 2018. I have a bunch of friends who were working two jobs in entertainment and food service who have lost both income streams, and I feel really bad for them. Trying to pitch in what I can whenever I see an opportunity to do so.

Personally, it's a bit lonely having to stay indoors all the time since I live by myself, but I'm managing.

I'll be married 22 years this May. The scenario you just painted is called "normal everyday life" for my wife and I.

Keep us updated if possible. Want to know if they had prior conditions. Thanks.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

Take this however you wish from Gov Coumo:

Peak number of cases is still 2 to 3 weeks away in New York
"We've procured about 7,000 ventilators. We need, as a minimum, other 30,000 ventilators. This is a critical and desperate need for ventilators [..] We need them in 14 days. Fema is sending 400 ventilators only. Federal action is needed to address this now through the Federal Defense Production Act"

"The numbers are higher in New York because it started here first, it has a lot of international travelers and has high density, but you will see this in cities all across the country, and in suburban communities. Where we are today, you'll be in 4 weeks or 6 weeks.

Probably "hundreds of thousands of people" have already had Covid-19, didn't know they had it, and recovered. Should be tested for antibodies so they could go back to work and keep the economy going
                  March 23 (GMT)

We shall see if he's correct in his predictions, if he is, I'm pretty sure Wisconsin will not be open for business at Easter time.

This is the worrying part to me. Numbers quoted don't include those people who have it or had it and are not showing symptoms but were/are in the community potentially spreading it.

We would have no idea what the numbers really are.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

The number of reported cases in the US was just over 1,000 with 37 deaths on March 11 and now it's over 52,000 cases with 700 deaths.

I realize the reported numbers are going to go up as more people get tested and that half the reported cases are in New York but that increase is terrifying. I can't believe there is a suggestion that two weeks from now things are going to be okay enough to have people return to work and return the economy to normal.

The reports from Wuhan, China suggest they haven't had a reported new case in five days. The government announced today that on April 8 -- two weeks -- the lockdown will be lifted. That makes sense to me since the incubation period is about two weeks. You don't want to remove the lockdown only to have reinstated.

Just seems to illustrate to me that the suggestion of returning to business as normal in two weeks in the US is insane.

                      Stay safe by southern friends.

I agree, I feel like normalcy won't return for a couple more months. I'm thinking end of May.

How did the death count go down? Misinformation? Misdiagnosis? Typo?

Lack of testing early on compared to now.

I'm sorry, I misread his post about 5x in a row. I read 1,000 deaths on March 11th, and was wondering how it went down to 700. Somehow I missed that 37 over and over again.

It seemed for a few days China had no new cases reported, but as of yesterday they have had roughly 40-50 cases each day over the last two days. The concern is and we don’t know yet, once you get this what is the likelihood of getting this yet again.

I think it’s insane that el presidente thinks we can have everything up and running again in two weeks, let alone getting people inside churches en masse for Easter. That’s only asking to make this a total wildfire at that point that will take longer to contain.

Hope that everyone stays safe and healthy.
