Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
My wife used the dog clippers to to cut my hare. I go really short, so it worked out okay. Glad I’m used to the buzz cuts.
My daughter cut her own hair and it looked pretty good, at least via FaceTime on Mother’s Day.Comment

Love like Maryland is opening tomorrow, but 8 main counties created a team of unity and will decided together rather to open the counties or not.
I'll probably be back to work by next weekComment

I never knew before this that people could break the supply change at a grocery store. From all the hording people have been doing sense begging of march for like the last month we have only had paper bags like 3 days out of a month. We for like the last 3 weeks have only had even plastics bags like %50 of the time. Items are in stock more then before but still low.Comment

I had been going to my regular grocery store the whole time, and have been dealing with similar shortage issues. Not as bad as you mentioned, but pretty worrisome when you see signs on lunch meat that all they have is what you see and limits on fresh beef and pork. .
My wife requested salmon for Mother’s Day, so I headed out to a different store, one where they have a great seafood department and do enough business to rotate stock easily. It’s not in a rich area, but better off than the city stores.
While there were a few things they were short on, they had all paper goods and plenty of lunch meat and fresh beef and pork. But more than that, they had most of the varieties of everything. I was used to my old store where they might have pasta, but it was all store brand.
Also, I say customers at this store were twice as likely to be wearing masks. It was interesting how different the experience was.
But I also made some runs south of the city last week. Still St. Louis County, but south is more blue collar. Think the TV show Roseanne. Here, not only were fewer people wearing masks, but you were more likely to get a dirty look for wearing one.
And this is all within 10-15 miles, depending on which way you go.Comment

Found toilet paper yesterday for the first time since this thing started. They also had hand sanitizer just really small bottles but still. Manager came over the loud speaker and was like today is your lucky day we have hand sanitizer. The toilet paper was in frozen food aisle so I don’t know if they were trying to hide it or what. Everyone has been wearing masks and for the most part following the rules

I have not been wearing any masks, honestly likely never will unless I'm absolutely forced to do so. However, I've been mindful or spacing and always kept myself at LEAST a full body span away...any coughing or sneezing is done with my elbow covering my mouth.

Just out of curiosity...why won’t you wear one?

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Grandma's nursing home has a reported case of Covid-19 of 1 employee that was sent home Friday. 0 residents at this time.
Everyone will be tested and the nursing home told my dad it was a employee who had limited contact with the residents.
The nursing home did their job. They are taking temperatures of all residents and employees once they enter work. I'm assuming once they took the temperature of the employee they had them tested and sent them home.
We just received a call from out pet groomer's place of business. We called during the stay at home because she is becoming quite the Beatle. We were scheduled for the 27th of this month. We received a call and were bumped to next Wednesday because the groomer was scheduled for surgery. We just received a call today to reschedule for June 12th because the groomer needs to quarantine for 14 days before surgery.Comment

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
I told my buddy in late April that by June 1st a large percentage of people in the US would give up and be willing to risk themselves and everyone else to do what they wanted. I was absurdly optimistic that day for some reason, folks couldn't make mid May.
The make up of our society ideologically and policy wise was always going to make the results of this pandemic much worse than it needed to be.Last edited by jfsolo; 05-13-2020, 02:08 PM.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Also...this isn't a reason by any stretch...I absolutely hate breathing in the same air I just exhaled. I wake myself up sleeping if I've turned and my head is against the pillow doing that. [emoji2369]

There was a week later, I really felt there was momentum in the country to shelter and beat this thing. Strong leadership could have moved us forward and really limited the impact of this both health wise and economic.
It’s become depressing to see just how poorly this entire thing has been handled. And despite the Go Back to Work crowd’s claims, this longer we wait to squash the virus, the larger the economic impact.
If I were president, my plan would be to throw a Gail Nary and shut the country down hardcore for two months. But I would create a task force to prepare, and tell the nation the plan, that in two months or six months, what we it will take, we shut down, but we need to prepare.
We mobilize unused hotels as quarantine centers. We start moving food and supplies to depots so that they can be distributed. We pause the stock markets and everything.
We take two months. It’s one shot. It either works or doesn’t. We don’t try again. But we use the police and military to enforce a massive hardcore lockdown.
Eight weeks would snuff the bulk out and allow us to focus testing and tracing in smaller areas as we control future outbreaks.
The biggest problem with the current strategy is that there is no plan. We don’t know how long, we don’t know how much it will cost.Comment

I don't believe I'll get sick, or if I do that I'll recover, and I've always been cognizant and precautionary with my surroundings my entire adult life as it is.

If you get infected, you will spread it for days before you realize you are sick. Maybe longer if you have mild symptoms. Yet the people you depend on, grocery workers, are getting sick from people that think masks are only for themselves.Comment
