Re: *The FIFA 16 Manager Mode Thread*

Hey guys, didn´t want to start a new thread regarding my question and thought perhaps someone over here could possibly help:

Does anyone know if the Euro Leage winner qualifies for the CL (or Champions Cup) in Fifa 16, like it is in "real life"?

(Sry if this has been asked before, didn´t find anything)

Re: *The FIFA 16 Manager Mode Thread*

        July 1st, 2015
After a quick trip to London Town road, to meet the board and the staff, it was my first call of duty to assess the current squad and decide on the direction for the future for Peterborough United. From first glance the squad is full of lot's of young talent in our U/21's but probably lacks some matured and experienced players apart from long time Posh players like Michael Bostwick, Gabriel Zakuani and captain Ben Alnwick, while CAM Erhun Oztumer will be out for 6 weeks recovering from a knee injury.

The board had already made some moves prior too my arrival loaning out CB Shaun Brisley and CM Jack Payne (Leyton Orient), and strikers Luke James (Hartlepool) and Kyle Vassell (Shrewsbury), While adding in young Premier League talent Matin Samuelsen (West Ham) and Harry Toffolo (Norwich City).

We had offers to play abroad in the Pre-Seaon but my first real manager decision was too stay in England for the Pre-Season and enter the Invitational Cup, simply to get aquatinted with the players, keep them fresh for the upcoming season and avoid the toll of airports and long bus rides for my players.

Our first opposition will be Northampton, and will have to rotate the side as we are playing 3 games in 8 days, so a tough opening schedule for Peterborough United. After organising the Pre-Season, I took a look at the clubs financial budget and met with 3✯ scouts Corey Flatt and Jake Grant, I had a list of some players to scout that had been recommend, so I kept one scout in England and sent the other to scout the Scottish Premier League. I feel we are more than occupied with strikers and could probably use some more Left and Right wing players swell as Left and Right Backs and desperate for a more experienced goalkeeper as 17 year Dion Henry may not be a suitable insurance for Ben Alnwick if we are looking for promotion.

        Spoiler

With all things in order it was time to get the squad on the pitch and see what I have to work with for the upcoming season!, first match Northampton!...LET'S GO POSH!

              ENGLAND INVITATIONAL CUP

July 5th, 2015 Peterborough vs Northampton
We took on Northampton from League 2 in our first Pre-Season cup match, I decided to give youth players a good run to keep the legs fresh for the rest of the tournament, 18 year old John Edwards showed he has lots of pace to burn, and Harry Beuatyman showed off his playmaking skills, Santos and Michael Smith were very solid down back but Ben Alnwick was fantastic between the goals saving everthing Northampton could throw at him, but the match ended in a stalemate 0 - 0

July 8th, 2015 Burton Albion vs Peterborough
We started off the match against Burton Albion looking extremely dangerous, opportunities presented themselves but we couldn't find a way early to get the ball in the back of the net, testing a few players out in a few different positions didn't really pay off as Phil Edwards put one in the goals giving Burton their second win of the tournament. Michael Bostwick looked comfortable at CDM which could free up the versatile youngster Chris Forrester to play more up the field as the season wears on, Michael Smith and Ben Alnwick were solid down back again in 1 - 0 defeat.

July 12th, 2015 Peterborough vs Portsmouth
We come too our third match in the Invitational cup, My squad is tired playing 3 games in just 8 days, We are yet too get a win, and still yet too score a goal. A win will see us go through to the next stage of the tournament, A loss or a draw won't be enough. Changing things up forward giving Adil Nabi and Soulemanye Coulibaly their first starts as strikers against Portsmouth and Coulibaly did score his first goal for the season, but it was equalised by Portsmouth shortly after ending our Pre-Season cup run at a 1 - 1 draw at full time. Michael Smith and Ben Alnwick were great again but Zakuani and Harry Toffolo were unusually out of form and James Anderson is certainly showing he deserves more time on the pitch.

Wrapping up the Pre-Season and getting a feel for the squad, The Captain Ben Alnwick was by far our best and most consistent player of the tournament, but we certainly lack depth, experience and at times some polish around the goals, we are going to have to rely on a counter attacking style of play and use our pace and quick ball movement up the pitch and catch goalkeepers into 1 on 1 battles with hopefully players like Coulibaly, Coulthirst and Jon Taylor.
We did pick up another $288,000 pound to add to the transfer budget, Erhun Oztumer looks to be getting close to 100% match fit, but unfortunately we will lose Marcus Maddison to injury and will be out for some time with a broken toe. We have a few weeks too get ready of the Skybet League One Championship kicks off, as always...

Spurs beat Anderlecht 4-1 to move to the top of Group J in Euro league after the first 3 rounds of matches. Harry Kane led the way with 2 goals as Erik Lamela and Moussa Dembele each added one of their own.

I try using realistic lineups and formations. For tactics with the Spurs I use high pressure and press the back line hard which makes the compute pass the ball around in the back more to really slow down their attack. Then once I have possession, I push fast and if nothing is there I pass it back out to my CB's and then kick it around looking for an opening.

                    Here is my latest formation:

Looks good mate, how does you team line up look like on the team management screen?, and do you use the custom settings for you tatics? Or just the preset ones? And do you adjust the postions of your players on the formation bit? Cheers

Next time I play I can take a picture of the team management screen if you like.
I use the preset tactics and then adjust the individual player roles. I have my LB and RB always overlap, CB's stay back and one CDM (Dier) always stay back and never advance on the attack.

I adjust the player positions only slightly, I push each winger up a little bit, not as far up as a striker would play but a little past midfield. I then move one CDM (Demeble) up closer to a CM role as he is more of an attacking CDM and then move Dier, back right in front of the CB's.

                        Like this:
                        ---------------------------- Kane

                        Son------------------------Eriksen-------------------Lamela

                        ------------------------Dembele
                        ---------------------------------- Dier
                        Rose------------- Vertonghen--------- Aldy-----------Walker
                        ---------------------------- Lloris

I'm not sure how well custom tactics work in the game this year but my team usually pushes forward pretty well. My only complaint is Dier likes to run forward at times too.

                            August, 2015
The opening month of the League One championship was a shaky one for my squad, after a bit of a disappointing pre-season, On the opening day and letting a goal through early cost us as we went down 0 - 1 to Swindon Town. Up next were League Two Exeter City in our first Capitol One cup match, I played a very heavily rotated side which resulted in a draw at full time 1 - 1 but Exeter City going through in penalties 3- 4. We finally turned things around against Rochdale with Adil Nabi showing his skills scoring two goals, in our first victory as we took the win 2 - 0.

Keeping our confidence sky high we took on Bradford City leading them at halftime 2 - 0 with Oztumer back in the line up and scoring an early goal aswell as Jon Taylor, but Bradford City cam out firing scoring 3 goals in the second half to steal the points and add to my disappointing start as manger. But some salvage came when we defeated Oldham Athletic 1 - 0 with Jermaine Anderson slotting the winning goal and the youngster continuing his good form.

                            PLAYER GROWTH UPDATE

The young star from Côte d’Ivoire has quickly become one of my favourite young payers already impressing me with his quickness, speed and agility at just 20 years old, although Adil Nabi has been our best striker Soulemanye Coulibaly looks promising and gaining confidence as he no doubt will challenge for that starting striker spot in weeks to come, already gaining +3 in attack position, interceptions, crossing and dribbling is why Soulemanye Coulibaly is on this months player growth watch.

                            September, 2015
Moving on too September after not particularly the start I had in mind, the Bradford City game still bugs me as I believe we had their measure. But!, we can't dwell on the past!, as we took on Bury in our first match of the month, and showed what we are capable of defeating them 2 - 1 with Nabi continuing his good form in striker position and Zakuani showing consistency.
We then had too face a much tougher opponent in Millwall, who came out firing in the first half getting off shot after shot, making captain Ben Alnwick dive all over the place and eventually Millwall scored, but we came out after halftime with some changes giving Shaquille Coulthirst a run a LW and he provided us a great equaliser giving us the away draw 1 - 1.

With no time to rest and a tired squad we faced a very tough opposition in Gillingham just 3 days after a tough match against Millwall, The quad was heavily rotated with Samuelsen, Beuatyman, Anderson, Edwards and Santos all playing major minutes. Chris Forrester and Michael Bostwick were solid down back all day and Jermaine Anderson came on and gave us plenty of creativity and attack, but Kgosi Nthle went down with injury and will be out for some time, but it was forcing me to make changes to the backs and with sudden changes comes mis-communcation as Dominic Samuel slotted a header with just minutes to go in the match.

With the side still not at 100% strength due to scheduling we travelled to Vale Park to take on Port Vale, Oztumer who had recovered from injury and was keen to show he belongs among the starting eleven slotted a lovely finesse shot at the 22' minute mark giving us the lead and shortly at the 26' minute mark it Lee Angol who pounded in a nice header of the cross from Chris Forrester giving us the 2 - 0 lead going into halftime, but, we didn't come out after the break focused as we conceded a goal from outside the box, shades of Bradford City were creeping into my thoughts, as the backs looked unsettled and the forwards not taking their opportunities as we couldn't hang on to the early lead giving up another late goal and taking the draw 2 - 2.

Our last match for September was at home, as we faced Blackpool, both sides were in form as lots of shots and great saves from both keepers. Marcus Maddison returned to the line-up after a broken toe, and Coulibaly who has been playing at LW was looking very dangerous, but neither team could score a goal as the result ended at 0 - 0.

                            PLAYER GROWTH UPDATE

Jack Baldwin has really held down the CB position with Zakuani missing a few games with injury, and Baldwin has risen to the challenge proving he can hold his own as the 22 year old is composed, tough and a really great prospect for us at Peterborough United. Baldwin has grown +2 in almost all of his physical stats, aswell as Mental stats and Physical stats, Baldwin has made 8 appearances already and no doubt willl continue to be an important part to our team for the foreseeable future.

MANCHESTER -- Arsenal saw Manchester United come into The Emirates back in early October, and smash the Gunners to the tune of 4 goals to 1, thanks to two goals each from Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini. They’ve had the reverse fixture at Old Trafford circled on the schedule ever since that embarrassing performance, and would make good on their attempt to return the favor, topping Man United and avoiding the double by a score of 3 goals to 1. Olivier Giroud provided the first 2 goals, with newcomer Gareth Bale providing the icing on the cake on a beautiful header from Mesut Özil (his 2nd, and league leading 10th assist).

Bale has scored 2 goals in his first 3 appearances for Arsenal, both coming from Mesut Özil assists. The Welsh International will likely be rested on Saturday when Arsenal host Leicester City (8-8-8), who currently sit 10th on the table, but just 5 points back of 5th.

The La Liga Giants will be without both Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, as they both have fled to England’s Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
