Champions League Final
Real Madrid
It was that time of the year again. The league season ended a few weeks earlier. Hertha BSC won their third league title in a row and they finished the season with a record amount of points. Meanwhile Real Madrid finished at a disappointing fourth place in the league, fourteen points behind the champions Barcelona. This game was a chance for the Spanish team to get their pride back.
The game started with Hertha Berlin passing the ball around and looking for space in Real Madrid's defence. The most important booking of the game was seen in the 19th minute when Luka Modric was sent off for sliding from the back. This opened the pitch for the Berliners who got a corner in the 25th minute. The ball was crossed in the box and it was cleared poorly. It fell to Jose Gaya, who took a few steps before playing a through ball to Hakan Calhanoglu who shot the ball to the top right corner. The first half ended with The Berliners having 62% possession and six shots on target. In the second half Real Madrid got a couple chances but they were saved by Thibaut Courtois. In the last twenty minutes The Whites went all out attack which left space in their defence. In the 84th minute the ball was played forwards to Hakan Calhanoglu who passed it to Luis Suarez on the left. Suarez ran a bit forwards before playing a lobbed pass to Calhanoglu which played him through on goal. The midfielder then stopped, passed the ball with his heel to Suarez in the box and the Uruguayan simply tapped the ball in the net securing the victory and making Hertha Berlin the first team ever to win the Champions League three times in a row!

You finished the season first in the league with a record amount of points. How do you feel?
I answered this last month but it's spectacular to break any record in football. This just shows how good of a team we are. Once again we played poorly these last months but we ended the season on a high note thanks to the Mönchengladbach game. Next season we will try to break the record again.
Hertha have now won the title three consecutive times which is another record you're sharing now. That's amazing.
Yes, you're correct. I also think it's amazing how well we have been doing since this club appointed me. Holding a record with another two teams isn't really something I like but hopefully this will change next season. I'm actually pretty sure of it.
You were chosen as the manager of the season. Does this accomplishment mean anything to you?
Not really, I'm getting used to it. Let's be honest, who else could have it been? That's right, no one. Also, I don't need some critics or so-called experts to know that I'm the best manager in this country. Next question, please.
Speaking of winning something three times in a row, you won the Champions League again. What was it like to win it again?
It's always the same, amazing and wonderful. Winning the Champions League is something I will never get bored of. It's the biggest club competition there is and every final is special.
What is your target for next season?
Doing something I have failed in for the last two seasons: Winning the treble.
