Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
FIFA 16 - Season 2
The Blades
January Transfer Window
LB, Brennan Dickenson, England, 23 yrs old, 62 OVR - Pre Contract Agreement from Gillingham FC
The 23 year old English defender is a converted attacker making him perfectly suitable for the the fast paced style the manager wants to play with. And boy does he have pace. Not many in the league are going to beat him in a foot race, and his previous experience as a winger and a striker should see him getting plenty involved in the attack with overlapping runs. Supporters will have to wait until next season though to see him join the club when his current deal with Gillingham expires.
CDM, David Davis, England, 25 yrs old, 70 OVR - £1,200,000 from Birmingham City
Davis is a player who can truly be the heartbeat of a midfield and urge everyone else on. He is a terror at the base of the midfield for opposing players, and he will give a defensive presence in the middle that the club has greatly missed over resent years. He describes himself as a player who likes to break things down and do the "nitty-gritty" and to get stuck in and work hard. Dean Saunders when describing him mentioned his "winning mentality" and said "when Blues are down no-one leads by example quite as much as Davis.
RB, Moses Odubajo, England, 22 yrs, 69 OVR - £775,000 from Hull City
Another winger converted to defender, and this one has the pace to burn as well. The team has clearly made a committment to brining in speed on the outside of the defense in this transfer window. Moses comes from Hull City after spending a season and a half with the club. He started his career coming through the ranks at Leyton Orient before moving to Brentford in 2014 and then Hull City in 2015. He will be in competition with Freeman for first choice at the right back spot, but he was clearly brought because of his playstyle and has a good chance to win the spot.
ST, Tammy Abraham, England, 19 yrs old, 68 OVR - Loan with Option to Buy for £1,000,000 from Chelsea FC
The 19 year old striker will be joining the club with the option to buy him once the term is up. Abraham, despite his age, is a handful when it comes to his physical presence on the pitch. Standing 6'3" he will make life difficult for defenders when the ball is played into the box from the outsides. He gives the Blades an aerial threat that was lacking, and it should be a huge boost to what they want to do up front. He has been with Chelsea wince 2004, joining the club at just 7 years old. However, as most Chelsea youth products find, it is difficult to earn yourself a spot in the lineup. This loan could be a huge opportunity for him regardless of if he stays on afterwards or not.
CM, Stefan Scougall, Scotland, 24 yrs old, 70 OVR - £1,100,000 to Blackburn Rovers
There were rumors earlier that Scougall had declined a contract offer in favor of moving on from the club. This deal all but confirms those whispers. With his deal set to run out at the end of this season, it is impressive that United was able to get such a large fee in exchange for him. Most experts had him valued at just £100,000 more than what he was sold for. Great deal of business by the manager, and with Davis being brought in there won't be a lack of depth due to his departure.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Basque Pride
April 2017
Rayo Vallecano 0 - 1 Athletic Club
Muniain 72'
Placido Orellana (RM/70ovr/18y) made his debut appearance.
Quarter Final, 1st leg
Manchester City 1 - 2 Athletic Club
Benzema 52'
Beñat 14', Aduriz 62'
It took three games for us to beat Manchester City, and the win couldn't have come at a better time. We showed real quality out on the pitch and Beñat put us into the lead with a shot into the bottom right corner of the team early on. The game stayed like that until the beginning of the second half when Karim Benzema equalised the game. Aritz Aduriz had different plans, though, as he got us the winning goal right after the hour mark with a powerful header.
Athletic Club 0 - 0 Atletico Madrid
Gurpegi s/o 78'
Bullsh*t, complete bullsh*t. A draw is a solid result but not in a thousand years did Gurpegi deserve to be sent off. Take a look at the 'foul' yourself and explain to me why he got sent off.Spoiler
As you can see, Gurpegi goes for a sliding tackle but completely misses it.
Atletico's Oliver Torres then jumps into the air. Keep in mind that Gurpegi is yet to touch him.
Torres lands on Gurpegi's manly parts and kills our captain's future offspring.
The Atleti man then falls over on the grass after squishing Gurpegi's crotch. The referee blows his whistle and shows Gurpegi the red.
Quarter Final, 2nd leg
Athletic Club (4) 2 - 2 (3) Manchester City (aet)
Aduriz 90', Villalibre 110'
Toure 38', De Bruyne 59'
What an unbelievable second half! Manchester City came into this game pushing hard for away goals and Yaya Toure equalised the aggregate scoreline in the 38th minute with a powerful shot into the top right corner. We were still going through on away goals, though, but that changed soon as the Belgian magician Kevin de Bruyne put the Citizens into the lead right before the hour mark. We then threw everyone forwards but the English team was able to survive our pressure right up until stoppage time, when Aritz Aduriz tapped the ball into the back of the net from Iñaki Williams' pass! The game then went on to extra time where our Asier Villalibre headed in the winning goal ten minutes before the end. Next up another team from England and Manchester: Manchester United.
Celta Vigo 1 - 3 Athletic Club
Aurtenetxe OG 75'
De Galarreta 16', S. Merino 25', Guillermo 31'
Athletic Club 1 - 1 Levante UD
Azpilicueta 45'
Martins 3' pen
We missed two penalties in this match.
Semi Final, 1st leg
Athletic Club 1 - 0 Manchester United
Aketxe 61'
This was a hard-fought win for us. Neither team was that much better than the other although we did well to keep Thomas Müller, Wayne Rooney and Christian Eriksen in the dark. At the end Ager Aketxe's curled shot in the 61st minute was enough to give us an advantage going into the second leg.
Real Madrid 2 - 1 Athletic Club
Keita 32', Cheryshev 89'
S. Merino 76', De Marcos s/o 81'
We deserved to get a point from this game. Balde Diao Keita put the Whites into the lead after the half an hour mark and we equalised with fifteen minutes of the match to go. In the 89th minute Denis Cheryshev was left completely unmarked in the box and the Russian winger won the game for his side with a near-post shot.
May 2017
Semi Final, 2nd leg
Manchester United (0) 0 - 1 (2) Athletic Club
Aduriz 89'
We are through to the Champions League final! Unlike in the first leg at home, we were able to control the game on Old Trafford and David De Gea's heroic performances are the only reason why the Red Devils didn't concede more. Our retiring star striker Aritz Aduriz won us the game with a last-minute header. We will face the German giants Bayern München in the final.
Athletic Club 0 - 0 Real Zaragoza
Athletic Bilbao Secure the La Liga Title With Three Games To Go!
Athletic Club 3 - 0 Valencia CF
Aduriz 22', Aketxe 28', Laporte 65'
Finally we were able to beat Valencia! We remembered well our Copa del Rey defeat to them and wanted to get our revenge and that is exactly what we did.
Real Valladolid 1 - 4 Athletic Club
Rubio 90'
Gurpegi 11', Angel OG 16', Aduriz 36', 88'
This game was full of emotions for all Athletic players, staff and fans. We were able to lift the club's first trophy since 1984, and even better, we had secured the league title with two games to go, but this Valladolid game also marked the end of two amazing careers as Gorka Iraizoz and Aritz Aduriz played their last league game for the team. Both of the players made over 300 appearances in the red-and-white shirt and they will go down as club legends.
Captain Gorka Iraizoz had one last message for the team after the game:
"Athletic will always remain in my heart as my team. After joining it from Espanyol in 2007, there wasn't a single moment where I didn't feel appreciated. All of us at this club are one big family. The players, the coaches, everyone. I want to thank our fans for their amazing support as they have been always behind us.
It is truly magnificent to win the league in my final season and show the world how strong we actually are. Out on the pitch we were united and we gave everything for the shirt, the club crest and our Basque Country.
This club will always be my home and I'm sure that there are many successes yet to come. We have a very strong squad with a lot of experience and young talent and we have a talented coach.
Aupa mutilak!"

Final
Athletic Club - Bayern München
The 2016-17 season has been a historic one for Athletic Club, or Athletic Bilbao, as they won their ninth La Liga title, their first since 1984, and they have made their longest Champions League run ever with the previous record held by them reaching the quarter finals in 1957. The club beat some good teams like Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United to reach the Champions League final, while their final opponents Bayern München had a very tough road to the final with games against Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the home stadium of Real Madrid, is the final venue for the clash between Athletic and Bayern. Even though Athletic's home city Bilbao is officially part of Spain, the supporters of the team will technically enjoy a trip to another country. Nationalism is a strong feeling in Bilbao and Basque Country of which Bilbao is the largest city. This Basque Country is an area in northern Spain and southern France with its own culture and language. Furthermore, Basque Country is known for its wish of independence.
This Basque identy is easily recognisable in Athletic Club, as well. The team is well known for their cantera policy, where they only sign players of Basque origins or players that have come out of a Basque youth academy. There has been some controversy surrounding the policy, but Athletic is not willing to drop it.
Some players who Athletic fans will hope to have an impact on the game are striker Aritz Aduriz, winger Iñaki Williams, midfielder Beñat and defender Aymeric Laporte. Aduriz is playing his last game for the team and winning the Champions League for his team would be the cherry on the cake. Iñaki Williams has contributed to the attack with many goals and assists and his pace and dribbling abilities will come in very handy against the Bayern defenders. Beñat has controlled the tempo of the game from midfield and he is a valuable asset from dead ball situations. Finally, Laporte has been rock-solid defensively and Athletic will rely on him and Iñigo Martinez to stop Bayern's Lewandowski, Arjen Robben and Mesut Özil.

Athletic ClubSpoiler2 - 1
SpoilerSusaeta 21', Williams 55'
Vidal 3'
The game began with Bayern's kickoff and the ball was played around the middle before Gervinho ran down the flank and played the ball to Vidal in the middle. The Chilean midfielder then unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the box and the ball flew into the top right corner to put Bayern into the lead with only three minutes gone. We then started attacking a bit more, creating a couple of good chances, and in the 21st minute we managed to equalise. Iñaki Williams tackled Philipp Lahm and stole the ball from him. Our winger then sprinted into the box, dribbled past Javi Martinez and passed the ball to Markel Susaeta in the middle for an easy finish.
The second half began and Bayern started to push a bit more. Ten minutes after resuming the game we experienced a deja vu as the ball was stolen again from a Bayern defender. This time Aritz Aduriz stole it and the 36-year-old striker ran into the box and shifted the ball to Iñaki Williams who then curled the ball into the bottom right corner of the net to put us into the lead! Soon after that we parked the bus with Bayern charging our goal and in the 78th minute the German team got a very good chance as Christian Eriksen received the ball inside the box. Our young defensive midfielder Mikel Merino was near him and he dispossessed the Danish midfielder with a precise sliding tackle. Bayern came again for our goal, though, but fortunately Robert Lewandowski's shot in stoppage time hit the post and bounced out of play. The referee blew his whistle and we had won the Champions League!
Spoiler
Vidal makes it 1-0 for Bayern.
The boys celebrate Williams' winner.

My Thoughts
The Season - What a season! We won the league by a huge margin of twelve points and we never looked like we would choke and lose the title race. Leading the league since around October just shows how consistent we were.
We won the Champions League! It was amazing to beat a few good teams to get to the final, especially when we played against Manchester City and came back in the last minute, but it was also very pleasing to beat big bad Bayern.
The only negative I could find is that we got eliminated in the first round of the Copa del Rey but that is something we will not repeat next season. I promise.
Players - I won't go into too much detail now because I will post the squad review soon and that is where I'll be taking a closer look at the players. Some of our better performers were Gorka Iraizoz, Cesar Azpilicueta, Mikel Merino, Beñat, Ager Aketxe, Iñaki Williams, Aritz Aduriz and Asier Villalibre. Our worst players were probably... well, it's very hard to pick them because we had a marvellous season.
Retirements - Gorka Iraizoz and Aritz Aduriz have retired from Athletic and they will leave huge gaps into our squad. Iraizoz has been amazing in goal while Aduriz has banged in quite a few goals. Unfortunately the retirement wave hit the Bulgarian national team, as well. We lost our starting striker Berbatov and a fourth-choice centre back Ivo Ivanov. It will be very hard to replace Berba.
Next Season - My aim for next season is to win the treble. I'm aiming high, I know, but we won two out of the three competitions this season. With a bit of luck we can add one more to that list next season.
Transfers - I'll probably try to sign a world class striker in the form of Antoine Griezmann or Gonzalo Higuain and possibly a back-up goalkeeper. I'm only looking to sell dead wood like Ibai Gomez and maybe even Iker Muniain, because the young winger does not want to sign a contract extension.
Youth Players - We promoted three players into the senior squad: Matthieu Jeannot (CF/68 ovr/18y/showing great potential), Juan Fernandez (RW/68 ovr/17y/?) and Zacharias Abeledo (CAM/69 ovr/18y/showing great potential). I will try to loan all of them out for a season or two.
Next Post - As I said, the squad review is up next and after that we will jump into the new season!
Transfer Budget: €58,000,000
Wage Budget: €275,000
Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
So I've noticed in my time off that I have gotten bad at FIFA apparently. Having trouble scoring and giving up silly goals on the other end. Chances are there though, I've been hitting the damn post at least twice each game. Hopefully I get it back soon.Comment

Going to wait and see if there's a fix for this in the next week or so, otherwise I'm just going to wait until FIFA 17 comes out. I feel like EA does this at the end of each season. Screw the gameplay up so bad that people have to buy the next year's version to keep having fun.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
It's not just you. I'm pretty sure the latest patch screwed the gameplay up. I feel like the pass speed is slower, AI crossing & passing are way overpowered, and my guys are generally just slower, leggier and have a worse first touch. And the incidents with hitting the post or goalkeepers making ridiculous saves are something I've seen on my end, too. I'm also conceding stupid goals just like you said. And I've experienced this with a bunch of guys in their 70s as well as the high 80s Bayern players. I even tried resetting my game about a dozen times to see if that helped, but nothing. It's really tough to get the Forest career off the ground when Rotherham beats you 3-0 with 70% possession and 96% pass completion.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
I made the mistake of buying FIFA 16 on the Xbox store instead of waiting for a hard copy to be delivered to my door, so I have to be connected AND install the patches or I can't play. Bloody DRM. Won't be making that mistake with FIFA 17 (yes, I'm a sucker, aren't we all?).Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Man, I used the links from SOFIFA but they get all screwy it looks like. Im at work otherwise I would have just saved them to my laptop and reupload them like I do my league table. My bad on that one! I was bored at work and wanted to post something haha.
Oh also, I actually tried installing EZVid (Got a new laptop that runs FIFA much better) to start adding highlights like I used to do but EZVid just crashes when I try to record a clip.
Anyone have good recommendations for free recording software?
