Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

I'm very sorry my "break" lasted 2 months.
I found posting a little dull. Especially since I don't have a computer and have to write everything out on a IPad. Anyway, a few days ago I decided to catch up on the forum.... After about a month of hardly reading it, I HAD APPROXIMATELY 250 PAGES TO CATCH UP ON!!! A fair punishment for my absence perhaps.
I started reading again at page 590, and am currently up to page 632.

First of all, I would like to bid a farewell to Regens4Life. (Is he gone completely of just talking a "break", I didn't actually read his most recent post.)

I would like to welcome anyone new to the forum, and wish them the best of luck in their careers.

I would like to congratulate Chico Bass for his amazing work at Morecombe.
I haven't seen Rabbit's updates from where I am at the moment, but I'm sure he's doing great.

The rest who are playing 15, either good luck, or congratulations depending on how far you've gotten in the career.

As for me, I brought Fifa 15 at around the beginning of October.
I originally started a career with Man United (my favourite team) getting up to Febuary in the first season. However, yesterday I realized that that career wasn't going to last very long. I didn't want to play tonnes of matches, only to become a victim of my own success and finish up in the middle of season 2. I wanted to do something long-term, exciting, and hopefully not too boring: A league 2 road to glory. I started of today with Cambridge United. I'm currently living it.
I'm nearly finished the Summer transfer window. I'll update tomorrow when August is complete.

        Right, back to catching up.

After getting some serious fifa time in the jacks are doing quite well. We have advanced to the next round of the F.A. Cup and will face Aston Villa. We are still third in league play. During the January transfer window we brought in Jermy Balmy from Notts County for a little added depth. We had a couple of transfer outs but no one notable. We have a couple matches left in February that will take place later today.

            AD Alcorcon - '19-'20 Season
            August Update

            League Match 1
FC Barcelona - AD Alcorcon (1-0)
            Tello 55'

Recap: We put out a 5-3-2 formation for the season opener against Barca's attack heavy 4-3-3. It worked, but Messi got to a ball on the left side of the box just a second before Ulreich and stretched out to flick it towards the middle where Tello put it in for a goal. Minutes later Ulreich had an unbelievable save on a PK that was as perfectly executed as Messi can make it. Ulreich just guessed correctly and saved a shot to his top right corner. This was a very evenly matched though and I was proud of what my guys did, both defending well and bringing the heat to Barca's goal (their GK, Janis Blaswich, had several tough saves).

CL - Qualifying Round, Leg 1
Legia Warszawa - AD Alcorcon (0-1)
            Akpom 86'

Recap: I must say that I was surprise at the level of play that Legia had going, it seemed like one of those games you were destined to lose no matter what. However our guys hung in there and Akpom, coming in as a sub, gave us the victory on the road though not by the margin we would had liked.

            Spanish Super Cup, Leg 1
FC Barcelona - AD Alcorcon (4-1)
            Morientes 7'
            Messi 18' (P)
            Messi 40'
            Osede Prieto 45'
            Alexis 77'

Recap: Played on the same day as the game against Legia, so I had to have a team in Poland and a team in Spain. The starters went to Poland. This one over here obviously didn't go well. The B team jumped out to a surprising lead when our youth product, Morientes, put a rebound away for a 1-0 lead but that quickly vanished away as Barca's starters overmatched our subs throughout this game.

            League Match 2
AD Alcorcon - Getafe CF (0-2)
            Sobiech 65' (OG)
            Mosquera 82'

Recap: Our inability to get a big lead in the first game against Legia meant we had to rest our guys for the 2nd leg of that game, so the B team had to go back out on short rest for our home opener. They held up well but a heart-breaking OG by Sobiech put us behind and an already struggling offense was unable to handle the extra pressure, then we eventually gave up a second goal to seal the loss. Disappointing for sure.

CL - Qualifying Round, Leg 2
AD Alcorcon - Legia Warszawa (3-0)
            Farago 9'
            Chichocki 54' (OG)
            Yamura 68'

Recap: We accomplished our first goal for this season, which was to qualify to the group stages of the Champions League. It was a process that was much more difficult than we anticipated because Legia was a tough opponent. Even after Farago's goal we were still not comfortable because our lead was very minimal but Legia broke apart after their own goal and we were able to put it away from there. Excited about the next stage of this tournament.

            Spanish Super Cup, Leg 2
AD Alcorcon - FC Barcelona (2-2)
            Sergio Busquets 16'
            Messi 28' (P)
            Barrera 42' (P)
            Rondon 56'

Recap: Playing a day after the second Legia game we once again had to turn to the B team, which held up well but was unable to reverse the 3-goal deficit from the 1st leg. Barcelona wins the Spanish Super Cup and we're ok with this because we have bigger goals in our sights at the moment.
            __________________________________________________ ____

So that wraps up our matches for this month. We only had two games in league play so I won't post the standings until next month's update though right now we are in last place due to losing both games. I assure we'll be much higher than that after September.

The end of August also means the end of the summer transfer window. Here are the moves we made since the last (preseason) update:

TRANSFERS OUT: Markus Goretzka (CB, 61 OVR), loaned to FC Ingolstadt 04 for the full season. Florian Nickenig (CB, 60 OVR), sold to FC Tom Tomsk for $180K. Adam Lee (CDM, 60 OVR), loaned to Hibernian FC for the full season. Carlos Alberto (GK, 66 OVR), loaned to FC Kaiserslautern for the full season. Alex Navas (GK, 64 OVR), loaned to Aberdeen FC for the full season. Giorgio Barraco (LM, 76 OVR), dealt to Marseille in a player transaction

TRANSFERS IN: Billel Omrani (ST, 78 OVR), acquired from Marseille for Barraco + $6 million.

Happy to be able to get a lot of youngsters playing time else where, especially the GK's. I keep waiting for one of them to breakout in their growth so I can hand him the starting job here. Ulreich is on the last year of his deal and I may need to extend him or start looking for another short-term plug at the position. I scouted A LOT of strikers looking for someone to replace Rondon who's retiring at the end of this season and Omrani was my main target. The only downside with him is that he may not progress more than where's already at but he bring is great size (6'3") and really solid ratings for a striker (has the Poacher specialty). Rondon, Farago, and him will rotate at the 2 striker positions.

Champions League groups have been announced and we have been placed in Group C which I would describe as sneaky-difficult:

            Chelsea
            AD Alcorcon
            RSC Anderlecht
            Malmo FF

I describe this group that way because both Anderlecht (Belgium) and Malmo (Sweden) were champions in their respective leagues last season, so they will be worthy opponents undoubtedly. Our first game will in Sweden against Malmo FF in the middle of September.

Now that the summer transfer window has ended, this is the roster we will work with this season:

            Spoiler

As far as our youth academy, we will be getting the first reports from out scouts in France, Spain, and England midway through September. For now here's our youth squad:
            • Javier Marquez (CB, 60-64 OVR, 86-92 POT): 17-year old from Venezuela with good size (6'2") for his position. We're hopeful he'll stick in the academy until the end of this season.
            • Victor Jimenez (CM, 53-57, 74-80): 16-year old from Venezuela who is a defensive-minded midfielder. He needs to remain in the academy for now.
            • Juan Nuñez (LM, 50-58, 70-82): 16-year old from Ecuador who was signed to the academy towards the end of last season. He's technically gifted but we don't need to rush him to the senior squad right now.
            • Jomar Mayat (LW, 53-57, 72-76): 17-year old from Cameroon who will be more of a striker than a winger as his speed is very limited. Ideally he'd stay in the academy all season.
            • Joey Hoesen (LW, 57-61, 71-75): 16-year old from the Netherlands who has better game on the wings though still lacks a lot of speed.

And I think that's all for now.

ALKMAAR, Netherlands, Nov 2 - The season is now three months old and AZ is a hard team to explain right now. They sit 6th with 17 points on the year, with a record of 5-2-3. Gardner remains confident that this team can compete for the title, but fans aren't convinced. "Right now, the goal is to get back in a Euro spot, but the end goal, was and remains to hoist the trophy at the end of the year.

Aron Jóhannsson continues to impress, with 7 goals, good for second in the league. Steven Berghuis has been a bright spot, with the winger tallying 5 assists to lead the league. Lee Keun Ho has scored 2 goals and recorded an assist in 3 appearances since being signed this past month. LW Gus Hupperts also has 5 goals and 2 assists, twice making the team of the week.

Be cautious with Danny Kedwell. He might be bench for Gillingham, but keep an eye on him. Hewitt was with them last season but now he's at Colchester so you won't have to worry about him!

                    FIFA 15 - Season 1

                    The Grecians

                    May & Season Review

                    Exeter City 4 - Plymouth Argyle 0
                    EXE - Keohane 22', 87', Wheeler 55', 72'

Keohane opened up this Devon derby when he made a good move right before firing a shot just inside the near post. Wheeler then used his strength to win a 50/50 ball on the right wing and then fired a shot to the opposite post to double the lead. He then brought the ball up the middle before striking a shot from outside the box with his left foot that found it's way to the upper 90 on the far post. Keohane then finished off the scoring after Wheeler brought the ball down the end line before crossing it past the keeper for the easy tap in on the open goal.

                    Dagenham 6 - Exeter City 4
                    DAG - Labadie 12', Batt 45', Ogogo 53', 70' 73', Goldberg 89'
                    EXE - Wheeler 13', Walker 67', Wilson 82', 90'

Labadie took advantage of poor concentration by the keeper to sneak the ball in near post on a slow roller. Wheeler answered back as he beat the defense to the left side of the box and played the ball back across to the far post. Batt scored off a grounded cross just before the half to give Dagenham the lead going into halftime. Ogogo then opened up the second half with a first time strike into the upper right corner of the net. Walker then scored on his Exeter senior debut after he drew the defenders left before spinning back to the right and firing into the top corner of the goal. Ogogo then scored his second of the night with a perfectly placed shot that avoided the sliding defender and flew past the keeper. He then completed his hat-trick when he received the ball in the middle of the box and finessed it into the right side of the goal. Wilson then came on and scored his 30th goal of the season with a strong left footed strike that settled into the right side of the goal. Goldberg then took advantage of a defensive mistake and took the ball away for an easy score to give Dagenham its last goal of the night. Wilson then received a great ball from Ariyibi on a run up the middle and struck it first time for his last goal of the season bringing him to 31 total in league play. Before the trophy for the league was awarded to Exeter, Tex Bumosix made sure to seek Vrabbit out and congratulate him on his win.

                    14. Morecambe - 63 pts
                    16. Dagenham - 61 pts
                    18. AFC Wimbledon - 52 pts
                    20. Luton Town - 49 pts

Assists: Ryan Williams - 12 (Exeter City)
Golden Glove: Jayson Leutwiler - 19 (Shrewsbury)

                    Youth Academy

Ben Devera (England) 15 years old 47-51 OVR 65-69 POT.
-The 15 year old favors playing in the defensive midfield in a holding role. However, he is known for his playmaking abilities giving him a lot of versatility in the middle of the pitch.

Carl Little (Northern Ireland) 15 years old 37-47 OVR 67-87 POT.
                    - Carl Little hasn't been in the academy long enough yet for the coaches to find him a permanent position. He has spent time playing in all positions across the back 4, as well as experimenting in the midfield as well.

Drew Tootle (England) 17 years old 54-58 OVR 70-74 POT.
-The young keeper is a giant at 6'5" and only 17 years old. He has the potential to be the future first choice keeper for Exeter if he develops properly.

Isaac Fryers (England) 15 years old 56-60 OVR 75-81 POT.
-The young 15 year old prefers to play right in the center of the pitch. He plays with a more defensive mindset, but has a tendency to play more in the center rather than in the traditional holding position.

Josh Meenan (Northern Ireland) 15 years old 41-53 OVR 66-84 POT.
                    - The young boy from Northern Ireland has natural talents at keeper, but his future will be determined on how much he grows over the coming years since he is standing only 5'7" at the moment. If he hits a growth spurt as expected, his future seems bright.

Leon Robinson (England) 16 years old 56-62 OVR 73-81 POT.
-At only 16 years old, he has found himself a role as a right back within the youth squad. He is a pacey right back who likes to get involved in the attack with his ability to overlap with the midfielders.

Exeter City Player of the Month

                    David Wheeler

David Wheeler was the standout in this short month. In the two matches he scored 3 goals and assisted in another from his position on the right wing.

                    Season Review

                    Goal Keepers
Christy Pym - 8 clean sheets - Pym showed growth over the season after struggling initially. He struggled to keep clean sheets, but that was as much from the defense as it was from him.
                    James Hamon - No Appearances

                    Defenders
RB: Christian Ribeiro - 1 goal, 6 assists, 5 Clean Sheets - Christian showed ability to contribute on both ends and played well crossing the ball into the box during attacks.
CB: Scot Bennett - 0 goals, 0 assists, 9 Clean Sheets - The captain was a mainstay in the squad and was on the pitch for all clean sheets this season.
CB: Mark Hughes - 1 goal, 0 assists, 4 Clean Sheets - Brought over from Morecambe at the start of the season, Mark struggled at times especially with his timing on tackles.
LB: Craig Woodman - 2 goals, 3 assists, 5 Clean Sheets - Woodman held up very well over the season, even scoring a couple of very nice goals. He held down the LB position very well.
CB: Jordan Moore-Taylor - 0 goals, 5 assists, 2 Clean Sheets - Spending time at both CB and LB, Taylor showed a natural talent for crossing the ball with 5 assists in limited play time.
RB: Danny Butterfield - 0 goals, 3 assists, 4 Clean Sheets - Danny had trouble finding playing time over Ribeiro, but he filled in well when called upon.
CB: Pat Baldwin - 0 goals, 2 assists, 4 Clean Sheets - Filled in very well off the bench at center back, but saw his time diminish towards the end of the season.
LB: Connor Riley-Lowe - 0 goals, 0 assists, 1 Clean Sheet - Only made 4 appearances all season.

                    Midfielders
CM: Liam Sercombe - 11 goals, 11 assists - Sercombe showed his balance offensively equally contributing both goals and assists from the midfield.
CM: Ryan Williams - 10 goals, 17 assists - Williams made an impact early on with his passing, and started contributing goals regularly by the end of the season. Led League 2 in assists.
CAM: Fraser Walker - 1 goal, 0 assists - Walker made just 1 appearance after graduating from the youth academy late in the season. He scored in his debut.
CM: Matthew Grimes - 7 goals, 4 assists - Grimes was able to contribute well on both ends, but took on more of a defensive role while he was on the pitch.
CM: Paul Tisdale - No Appearances
CAM: Jimmy Keohane - 9 goals, 11 assists - Made a huge impact off the bench and played as a true #10. Scored some important goals during the season.
CM: Matt Oakley - 4 goals, 6 assists - Another player who was slotted into a more defensive role in the midfield. He held up well contributing to more than half of the clean sheets the team kept.

                    Forwards
RW: David Wheeler - 20 goals, 4 assists - Wheeler made a switch from RM to RW this season and proved why he has a future there with his goal scoring output.
ST: Graham Cummins - 17 goals, 9 assists - Played unbelievably as the back up striker racking up 17 goals of his own.
ST: James Wilson - 47 goals, 16 assists - Absolutely dominated league 2 with his ability to score. Also finished second to Williams in assists. Just agreed to a contract to stay on a permanent basis.
LW: Gboly Ariyibi - 13 goals, 6 assists - Brought in during January, he made a huge impact on the second half of the season.
ST: Tom Nichols - 2 goals, 0 assists - Only made 7 appearances and scored 2 goals during that time.
LW: Arron Davies - 11 goals, 5 assists - More of a natural midfielder, he was forced forward this season due to a number of reasons. Performed well for being out of position.
ST: Jamie Reid - 19 goals, 9 assists - Played as a winger throughout the season, proved that he has a future at the position. His goal scoring combined with his passing ability provided a lot of value to the team.

                    Press Conference

What an amazing season. I am proud of the success we have had this year, and I hope we can carry that over next year as we take the next step up in English Football. I will open the floor to questions now.

Q: Congratulations on your great season. We already knew after last month that you would be league champions, but now that you have the trophy in hand how does it feel?

A: It feels a lot more real now. I am proud that we get to hold this trophy up, and it feels even better knowing that it won't be taken away from me this time like it was last time. These players proved their dominance all season long and we won the league by an astounding 20 points. I think this is a good sign for us going into next season for League 1.

Q: James Wilson won the Golden Boot, and we are receiving word now that you have reached an agreement to make his move permanent. How important is he to this club going forward?

A: James was the best player on the pitch for most of the matches we played this year. We would have been struggling to find a replacement for him if we were pressed into that, so we made it a priority to find a way to keep him. We are happy that he wanted to join as well, and it didn't take long to work out the details after that.

Q: You are now moving up into a higher league, what plans do you have for the squad to prepare for the coming season?

A: There is a lot to evaluate going forward, and the budget we have will play a lot into that. The only thing I can say so far is that I have been keeping my eyes on midfield prospects, but it will only happen if the price is right. It is also too early to say since we can't be sure who will be sold at this point as well.

Thank you all for being here today. It's been a pleasure to share this season with all of you. We now have our sights on a new challenge, but we are looking forward to it. See you all back here in a few months for the start of the new season.

                        Dagenham '16-17 Season
                        August Update

Capital One Cup - Round 1
                        Dagenham - Leeds United (3-0)
                        Wilkinson 36'
                        Nimely 48'
                        Valencia 90'

Recap: Excellent start in this cup competition as we handled Leeds from beginning to end. Nice to see Nimely score his first goal after a scoreless preseason.

                        League Match 1
                        Dagenham - Hull City (3-1)
                        Armstrong 23'
                        Wilkinson 39'
                        Collins 56'
                        Collins 74'

Recap: We followed up a strong win over Leeds with a strong win in the season opener. Collins followed up a solid preseason with a couple of scores in this one to seal it. He's very active in and around the box.

                        League Match 2
                        Bournemouth - Dagenham (0-0)

Recap: A somewhat disappointing result though this was the 3rd game the team played in 7 days so there was some fatigue going on. Dagenham dominated the game but was unable to convert their chances.

                        League Match 3
                        Dagenham - Reading (1-2)
                        Brooks 37'
                        Willian 45'
                        Taylor 49'

Recap: I must admit this was a fair result given Reading's tenacious approach throughout the game. Hurt to say it but it seems they wanted it more. Brooks goal was a beauty though, from outside the box after a corner kick had been cleared out of the box, Nimely softly touched it towards the middle and Brooks missiled it.

                        League Match 4
                        Crystal Palace - Dagenham (0-4)
                        Nimely 2'
                        Reyna 24'
                        Monzon 29'
                        Valencia 76'

Recap: An outstanding bounce back performance against an opponent that almost earned direct promoting to the BPL last season. Nimely's goal in the early going shocked the home team and the Daggers never let down.

                        League Match 5
                        Dagenham - Blackpool (3-1)
                        Kim 15'
                        Ince 35'
                        Wilkinson 38'
                        Akpom 74'

Recap: Wilkinson keeps cashing in on corner kicks. The team overall is performing at a high level and they're showing very good chemistry. Kim's goal was amazing considering it was a header where he beat the goalie at the top of the cross. He's 5'5".

Capital One Cup - Round 2
                        Middlesbrough - Dagenham (1-2)
                        Adomah 10'
                        Monzon 20' (P)
                        Collins 89'

Recap: A thrilling game not necessarily reflected on the scoreboard. Middlesbrough was decisive on their attack from the get-go and our back-4 was surprised at first but they did a good job of adjusting and holding the home team off the scoreboard in the last 90 minutes. Collins put us through to the next round with a clutch goal that came off a nice triangulation above the box.

                        FL Championship Standings
                        1. QPR - 25pts
                        2. Wolverhampton - 13pts
                        3. Hull City - 12pts
                        4. Dagenham - 10pts
                        5. Reading - 10pts
                        6. Huddersfield - 10pts

                        ...
                        22. Peterborough - 2pts
                        23. Burnley - 1pt
                        24. Bournemouth - 1pt

Alright, all in all a very positive month, I think. The team is in the Round of 32 of the CO Cup and in good position in the league. The loss against Reading stings a little but I think the bigger missed opportunity was giving Bournemouth their only point in the league so far. Medy Elito received Player of the Month for August, he had no goals but he did have 3 assists.

We have also wrapped the summer transfer window, and these are the moves made since the preseason update:

TRANSFERS OUT: Jordan Derbyshire (GK, 60 OVR), loaned to Carlisle United for the full season. Kagetoki Miyoshi (LB, 65 OVR), loaned to Exeter City for the full season. Sang Min Lee (LW, 54 OVR), loaned to Podbeskidzie for the full season. Jordan Seabright (GK, 52 OVR), loaned to Plymouth Argule for the full season. Stefan Reichel (CDM, 62 OVR), loaned to Brentford for the full season. Dario Verdejo (CM, 55 OVR), loaned to Sligo Rovers for the full season.
TRANSFERS IN: Josip Radosevic (CDM, 69 OVR), loaned from Napoli for the full season.

So no additional purchases or sells, just a bunch of loans, the most important for me being Miyoshi as I think he can be a player for us but just needs to improve his game and I hope he gets plenty of PT at Exeter City (make it happen tex!). OF COURSE, on September 1st, the day AFTER the transfer window closed, my trainers inform me that our starting CAM Fernando Monzon suffered a torn groin in practice and will be out for a couple of months ... I have decided to replace him in the lineup with Fabian Torres even though he doesn't have the stamina to play a full game, so that's going to suck because I'm always going to have to reserve a substitution for him.

Here's our roster for the season:

                        Spoiler

Finally, in youth academy news all 3 of our scouts have been sent out around the world to find us more gems. Our best scout was sent to Argentina, our second best scout was sent to Greece, and our worst scout was sent to Sweden. Next update will show how their first reports fared. For now here's our youth squad:
                        • Laurenco Vilna (CM, 61-65 OVR, 83-89 POT): 16-year old from Brazil who projects as a CAM in our diamond midfield. He has a chance to crack our starting lineup if he stays in the academy all season.
                        • Raffaele Molinaro (CM, 59-63, 79-85): 16-year old from Italy described as technically gifted. If promoted right now he wouldn't be more than a role player but he could be a solid contributor next season if he stays in the academy this season.
                        • Jomar Sadami (RW, 58-62, 75-81): 16-year old from Ghana was an addition to the academy late last season. I would like to see him develop in the academy and then see how he fits in our attack.
                        • David Antonio (CM, 54-58, 73-79): 16-year old from England who doesn't project as much more than a role player for us down the line.
                        • Brian Donaldson (CAM, 53-57, 73-79): 16-year old from England who is attack minded and could be utilized as a striker. Best suited to stay in the academy for now.
                        • Francisco Anibal (LM, 58-62, 72-76): 16-year old from Portugal who has spent a good amount of time in our academy, he could be a candidate to be called up sometime this season.
                        • Enric Tinlea (CM, 51-55, 71-75): 16-year old from Romania described as a playmaker even though he projects more as a bench player for us.

                        Anyways, that's all for now
