Yes, they have been screwed over in the past. This year, the fault is all theirs. They lost today and missed out on the promotion playoff spots, and it was down to a lack of stones. McClaren won't be with them any longer, I think. He's too talented to be managing a bunch of guys with no balls in the Championship. Fully expect him to be at Newcastle or Sunderland this summer, whichever one stays up.

Very interesting. I've never spoken to someone who studied Russian history, so it's fantastic to finally do so. I'm actually moving to Moscow in a few weeks on a long-term job, so I will be picking up a season ticket to watch CSKA solely to watch Zoran Tosic (who I hope will still be there when I reach Russia). Anyway, if you have any tips to make life in Moscow better, I'm more than open to ideas and suggestions! Cheers, I do miss Bent but Russell looks to be the future of this time in terms of scoring goals. Let's hope it keeps rolling as you said.

Moscow should be fun and exciting. Western Russia has more in common with Europe (although still distinctly Russian), so you should have no trouble finding English speakers and adapting more quickly. I have a friend that traveled from St. Petersburg, to Moscow, to Novosibirsk, and then Vladivostok. St. Petersburg and Moscow are great, but Novosibirsk is in Siberia and Vladivostok is in the Far East neighboring China, so those two places weren't as enjoyable, although still interesting. Good luck, and keep me posted on how things go there.

Oh and Zoran Tosic should still be there. Too bad Seydou Doumbia left for Roma, he was really dominating the league for a few years and was fun to watch.

The scoreline doesn't reflect the game at all. We had most of the ball and the attempts. In fact with their only shot of target they scored. Veldwijk had an early chance sending a volley just wide. A ball over the top to Paterson forced a save from Speroni and somehow Veldwijk missed an open goal with the follow up. Assombalonga had to come off at halftime due to a sprained knee and Dicko grabbed his debut chance by the scruff of its neck. He had a shot saved well and then 3 minutes later Chamakh chipped a ball over the top for Bolasie. He held off Burke and Lichaj before smashing past Darlow. The second, and killer goal, followed 20 minutes later. Jedinak lined up a shot from outside the area and as Mancienne tried to block it the ball deflected off him and went straight into the top corner giving Darlow no chance at all. Recent addition Nouha Dicko had a last minute chance saved and from the following corner Dutchman Lars Veldwijk shot well wide. The big difference in this game was when Palace got their chances they took them whereas we didn't.

Britt Assombalonga suffered a sprained knee against Crystal Palace so he will miss 4 weeks of action.

Crazy, crazy game. McGoldrick got the home side in front with 20 minutes gone. A reverse pass from Murphy allowed him to strike it first time across Darlow. Nothing much happened until just before halftime. Cataldi's ball found Antonio's run down the right. He then picked out Fryatt who got in front of Sowunmi and headed it across Gerken for his first Forest goal. Coming out with momentum for the second half, we won the ball straight from kick off and Fryatt played Dicko through. He and Chambers muscled for the ball and they both went down. The ref gave a penalty along with a red to Chambers. In all fairness it looked like Dicko had actually kicked Chambers and not the other way around as the ref had implied. Matt Fryatt stepped up looking for his brace and although he placed it well Ipswich goalkeeper, Gerken somehow got his fingertips to the ball. Ipswich took the lead when a beautiful first time ball around the corner from McGoldrick got Skuse in to finish. We replied rapidly with a counter attack starting after Dicko won the ball all the way inside our own half. He just managed to beat Hewitt for pace and when he got inside the box he squared it to Fryatt for the tap in to finally complete his brace. Unfortunately shortly afterwards Fryatt and Cataldi both went off carrying injuries. Darlow made some good saves to keep us tied at 2-2. French winger Antonio changed the game when got inside the area and tried to slide the ball across the 6 yard box to Dicko. Gerken got his hands to it but Dicko was alert to stick it in, scoring his first goal for the club. On loan Magpie Darlow then made spectacular saves to make sure we left with the 3 points.

Danilo Cataldi suffered a sprained ankle and will be out of action for 3 weeks.

Matt Fryatt broke his ankle against Ipswich and unfortunately will be out for 3 months.

September 13, City Ground
FL Championship: Match 5

Nott'm Forest 1-1 Middlesbrough

MotM: Lars Veldwijk (NFO, 7.5)

The in form Dicko sent an early chance just over after being played through. Boro centre half Rhys Williams sent a long ball from the back and it caught Michael Mancienne out of position allowing Tomlin to control the ball, run in on goal and finish around Darlow. Darlow would then deny Whitehead the chance of a goal just before halftime with a good save. Veldwijk hit the post on a follow up to Dicko's shot that Steele had saved initially. Tomlin was denied a second thanks to brilliant keeping from Darlow and then Veldwijk sent a header wide. Antonio also had a chance to equalize cutting in from the right but his shot went inches wide. The big Dutch striker however saved the day and earned us a point. He avoided Williams' challenge getting into the box. Woodgate came across to tackle but Veldwijk cut inside him and finessed the ball around Steele for a valuable point.

September 20, Craven Cottage

The first half was fairly boring. There was only two chances. One for Veldwijk with a close range header and one for McCormack when he fired wide. In the second half Hunt gave the ball straight to Mitroglou who played McCormack in to finish through Darlow's legs. Mancienne then brought Mitroglou down inside the area giving away a penalty. Rodallega came on to take it (weird?) and sent it into the top right corner. Antonio then won us a penalty, when he was tripped, which Veldwijk tucked away. Dicko then equalized late on sprinting around Burn and shooting. His first shot was saved but he was able to tap in the rebound.

September 27, City Ground

We dominated and Cataldi scored in the 35th minute after taking the ball off Edwards, who had intercepted the through ball, and shooting low past Forde. Spearing hit the crossbar in the 56th looking for his first Forest goal running into the box and hitting it with his left foot. Dicko added the second accelerating past Beevers' sliding challenge and finishing around Forde. Paterson then rubbed salt in the wounds turning Webster and finessing by David Forde.

Lars Veldwijk will be out for 4 weeks due to a sprained knee.

September 30, DW Stadium
FL Championship: Match 8

Wigan Athletic 1-1 Nott'm Forest

MotM: Nouha Dicko (NFO, 7.2)

The new tactics went well but we didn't control the game as I would have liked. Wigan though weren't second for no reason and we both shared the point. Assombalonga fed strike partner Dicko in for his 4th goal of the month but some bad defending gave Wigan too much space inside the box to equalize. This point dropped us down to sixth.

Player of the Month

Nouha Dicko

The Mali international netted four times this month while also setting up a further two. He was named MOTM in two games this month and was an obvious choice for this award. His pace causes real problems and now with his confidence brimming the recent signing should be banging in more goals consistently soon.

Manager Thoughts

Disappointed to be knocked out of the Capital One Cup so early but Palace are a Premier League club and we gave a good account of ourselves. Ipswich was an exciting game that I'm glad we came out on top in. Then we had 3 draws from 4 games. I suppose when you look at it Wigan and Fulham have good strong squads so I'm not too down about 2 points there. Middlesbrough with the from they were in I was expecting the 3 points. Our best performance was by far against Millwall. We just need to keep some more clean sheets.

A Roma update.

We are in the middle March, it has become a battle between Lazio and Juventus for 1st. We sit in third with 46 points, but our form is horrible and on top of that we face a lot of injuries. We lost in the Cup in the semi final round in a close two legged battle with Sampdoria. Right now we have to push for a strong finish.

Hi guys, I have been following this thread for quite sometime now and I just made an account because I want to start a career mode to share and be able to comment on everybody elses. I haven't figured it out who I want to do the career with so I'm going to leave a strawpoll to see what you think.

Wolves- Don't vote for Wolves. I forgot sportsfreak was going to start one. Sorry!

Rotherham- They barely didn't get relegated this year and I think that would be a good challenge for me. Also their squad really doesn't look that bad to me.

Blackpool- Ended up last in the Championship and will be relegated. Would most likely be the most difficult, but I'm up to it.

Udinese- A mid-table team in the Serie A. They have a few good players. I don't know much about the league though.

Southampton- A decent squad even though they sold a lot of players over the summer. I would like to see if I could do as well as they did in real life.

Inter Milan- The team with the biggest budget, but also a lot of ageing players that need to be replaced.

Sunderland- Fighting to stay up right now, I think have had a lackluster season to say the least and I think I could turn them around if I was put in charge.

Work hasn't allowed me to log on all day today, but as it is still Saturday May 2nd here in Arizona I wanted to wish Texasbum the happiest of wedding days! I know I'm late, so I hope everything went better than planned and you had an amazing wedding. Congratulations to you and your fiancé (now wife), and I wish you nothing but the best for years to come. I understand you were already living together with her so I'm sure it won't be too difficult to adjust to the married life. As long as there's still FIFA I'm sure it will be a long and happy marriage lol Oh and enjoy your honeymoon man!

I voted for Rotherham as I prefer English careers and seeing how they struggled this season like you I said it should be a good challenge. I wouldn't mind seeing either Udinese or Sunderland career if that is what's voted. Serie A could be fun and Sunderland have also struggled and could even go down this season!

Formation talk incoming!

My previous formation for the first month was a 4-2-3-1 but the defence was too vunurable and didn't suit my attacking play so I decided to switch it around a little and choose the 5-4-1.

Numbers in brackets indicate the player's overall.

Clement Maury will be my first choice keeper despite being a little bit older. Maury has much better refelexes and diving which has really helped the team through the last couple of games.

My central defenders won't have much time for rest as they have no replacements due to the depth of the squad at the back. My central defenders all have one obvious weakness; their speed and agility. Youga is the quickest with an approximate sprint speed of 60 which is respectable. But Francois and Filippi have around 40 sprint speed which means that we're extremely vunerable to the counter attack and quick players. Despite Francois being left-footed, he has to play in the middle due to his slightly less pace than Filippi and being 6'4 which makes him ideal for the middle man so that he can get some good headed clearances.

The wing-back positions are the most contested right now. Rivieyran definitely will start the most out of Andreu and Matar Fall. At left wing back Andreu and Fall have been performing very well and have been taking it in turns to play so I am still undecided who will be my first team player for that part of the pitch.

David Ducourtioux is my first choice CDM at the moment. Francois Sinapi (54) has been really pushing for this spot and he does give a reasonable argument. Whilst Sinapi has had a little less game time, he has conceeded a coniderable amount lower than when Ducourtioux has been on the field. When time lets me, I would like to try Ducourtioux in behind Tshibumbu because he has the pace, passing and shooting to be a little further up field to be a danger to the oppisition's defence.

Mayi and Poggi are great wingers who can find their way through many defenders before breaking down the wing and being reliable enough to knock a ball into the area for somebody to contest. Mayi enjoys cutting in more because he's right footed and Poggi is gifted at getting his crosses into the box with pinpoint accuracy.

Ali M'Madi and John Tshibumbu have great work rates and great link up play with each other. This partnership has given us 75% of our goals in the first month alone and long may it continue.

Since we're on the topic, I need a formation change.

Ever since I did my Monaco CM I've used the same formation.

EX:

When I tried using this formation with Wolves However, It didn't work properly because their team is more of a wide man team. My question to you guys is what formation do you recommend(Im not a fan of their default formation) I should use?
