Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
At a big club, I usually play 7. You need to play enough to get your guys in match shape. 7 is usually adequate to at least get your starters close to 100%/100% and the rest of your squad to around 100%/90ish%
Any more than that, and I feel like it's diminishing returns, as I'd rather have a guy at 100/90 than a guy who's injured.Comment

When playing an MLS career, champions league games will start ~2 months before the MLS season, so I will often have a ton of of friendlies, basically 1-2 a week for 10-12 weeks as we ramp up to the season. So, playing 10 friendlies is totally reasonable when doing that.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

I knew there was going to be a large turnover in the off-season so I wanted to test a bunch of different tactics, thankfully only one person got hurt during it, but we've started the season off on fire 3 wins out of 3 and a goal differential of 5.
Also, yes, it is a lot of Preseason matches, I normally go 5-7.Last edited by Suntan Superman; 07-14-2016, 10:54 PM.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
After 2 seasons, 8 total cup titles and €540m spent, I decided to leave PSG in November. It kind of broke my heart and was a tough decision because I loved what I was building there but I have been itching to go to the Premier League. In the 2 seasons, both Manchester United and Chelsea have finished 10th or worse and have gone through several coaching changes.
Wanted really bad to go back to my club after seeing them struggling last two seasons. Currently they're in 17th with Manchester City \ Arsenal \ Liverpool next on the schedule in a row! 10 player personal issues and a few critical injuries. A lot of work to do and their transfer history isn't too impressive. They sold Willian to Manchester City for €30m while signing Inaki Williams from Athletic for €55m - sigh.Let's just say the staff and roster are a mess currently.
Currently Mourinho is in charge of Manchester City and is hating on my hiring - wish there was a STFU option in this game.
What sucked though is if I was to be hired by Chelsea, I would have to resign from my Columbia HC job. I took that job where they had slim chance of qualifying for the World Cup and literally accepted the job after beating New Zealand in the 2nd leg of the WC Playoff.Last edited by Altimus; 07-15-2016, 05:54 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Blew through another season with AFC Wimbledon. Really bound and determined to make it to the EPL all the way from League 2 for the first time in my FM life.
Year 2 in the Championship; Year 6 overall. I told the board that I would avoid a relegation battle to get a little more wage budget, and I succeeded.
The lowest I was all season was 15th, which was the last day of the season. For a while there I thought I was going to challenge for a spot in the playoffs, but I fell back to the pack around Christmas time.
My finances are getting under control, thanks to my new stadium and the added gate receipts. I have 4 players valued at $2m or higher, with the highest being $4.7m, so I feel like the quality of the players I'm developing is getting better.
This year, thanks to a diamond in the rough free transfer CAM, I had no loan players in my Starting XI, which is the first time in my tenure at Wimbledon that I can say that.
On to year 3! Hoping to challenge for that playoff spot thus season.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So the team I took over when I created my team is not good and has financial issues...so my work is cut out for me.
I honestly can't copy/paste an image on here (can't figure out for the life of me what to do, have tried everything), so I'll leave the 2 images as attachments. The first is my schedule, but the second is that 3-1 loss against the last place team...I had just won 6-1 and was looking to keep some momentum going and they scored 3 goals in the first 7 minutes. For their first win. Ugh.Teams:

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finally got the board off of their "defensive football" and now we get to play free-flowing attacking football with some truly spectacular attackers. Due to our UCL victory our stature in the game rose significantly, which means the quality of our cast-off signings also increased. Maxilimillian Meyer came from Real Madrid for 5.5m and Johannes Geis came from FC Bayern for 6.5m. We started off the league on absolute fire, and we haven't looked back.
I don't think I've ever dominated a league quite like this....
Our Champion's League campaign included being drawn into a group with Real Madrid, PSV, and FC Steaua, I figured we'd easily finish second and we did, losing and drawing with Madrid, drawing and winning against PSV, and annihilating Steaua. Steaua definitely had a Champions League to forget.

***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Ran through Year 1 with Arsenal as wire to wire winners of the BPL. It wasn't as smooth as it seemed though; we had to beat Watford the last game of the season to win it outright. Man U and Man City finished just 2 pts behind. We needed just 2 pts with 3 to play to win it and got smoked the first 2 games 6-0 combined.
We also rolled through the CL into the finals before losing to Barca 2-2 on penalties.
Only major thing I did was sign Paul Pogba to beef up the midfield. Ozil won BPL Player of the Year. Giroud had a career year despite missing the last 3 months with a broken leg.
In the offseason I got an $100m per year increase in payroll budget and $140m in transfer budget. However, I am really at a lost to do with all this money. I am trying to make some minor upgrades but would prefer to start building through our youth.
I think this is all bound to be my secondary save as I am not craving some LLM. It was fun to get a flavor of being a big boy but not all that rewarding.
Trying to figure out where to go now.
