Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
This is with FM13, but I've had really good luck with a 3-1-4-2 or a 3-2-3-2. The strength up the middle forces the other team to the outside, and I have tall, athletic center backs to deal with the crosses. It's possible it wouldn't work as well in the newer games, but it works well for me.
I also like it, because it gives me one less position to focus on (don't need fullbacks) and lets me prioritize central midfielders, which I try to make the strength of my team.
I'm not a fan of fullbacks either.Comment

Just got a new iPad Air 2 so I went and downloaded FM Mobile. I thought about FMT, but the inability to add logos and facepacks was a turnoff. Who to start as....
In my fabled Arsenal save, just finished up the NLD and narrowly beat the Spuds at WHL. Mesut Ozil saved my bacon and to the Spuds credit, they pushed hard for the equalizer. Toughest match for my unbeatens so far this season.Comment

Strasbourg Year One Update:
WOO PROMOTION!!!
I ran away with the Championnat National because I was able to strategize around the terrible play and lack of goal scoring featured across the league. I knew that if I could score one goal, then I could hunker down, play defensive, and win the match. You know the refrain "one-nil to the Arsenal?" Well, that was my strategy.
I walked into a team that was over it's paltry wage budget, had no transfer budget, and had a board that refused to get a parent club. But I also walked into a league where the 3rd place team had a 3 goal differential, and the 6th place team had a negative goal differential. Goals were as rare as wins for the Cleveland Browns. 0-0 draws were as commonplace as insert your favorite metaphor here to describe how commonplace 0-0 draws were. I'm going with "as commonplace as Professor Farnsworth saying 'good news, everyone!'" Because Futurama is awesome! So I played "score and then go into the bunker" tactics (so entertaining for the fans!), overachieved, and won the league. Now I'll have to overachieve again and not get instantly relegated back.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Changed the player roles for the back 3. It used to be CD(C)-BPD(S)-CD(C).
Changed my LDM from BWM to Anchor Man.
Changed the LW to WM and pretty much made it an inside forward by altering the player roles.
Also changed one of my striker from Poacher to AF and the attacking mid from Enganche to AP.Comment

Does anyone know what a XML parsing error is? It also says something about some Tolkien at line one.
This happens when fm is loading up then pops up. I hit ok and X on it and it goes away the fm window flickers then pops back up and does the same thing.
I did download a few things like a hair pack, face pack and a city pack. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Edit: nevermind I fixed it. I'm just an idiot lolLast edited by Bucs1211; 12-15-2015, 08:53 PM.Comment

***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I just had like the greatest season of all time in my Arsenal save.
Things won:
Community Shield
Capital One Cup
UEFA Super Cup
Club World Championship
FA Cup
Champions League
Premier League.
I won 36 matches in the Prem. I lost once (****ing Chelsea). 109 points. I had a goal differential of 107. 137 for and 30 against.
Memphis Depay: 70 goals, 44 assists, 57 appearances
Neymar: 40 goals, 36 assists, 55 appearances
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 36 goals, 20 assists, 51 appearances
And for funsies I just bought Paul Pogba for next season.
Oh and through a weird scheduling quirk I played Spurs 8 times.
I won 7 times. The one I lost was the second leg of the Champions League semis. I had won the first leg 8-1.
In those 8 matches I beat them 34-10.Last edited by Bellsprout; 12-15-2015, 09:41 PM.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I have a +41 goal differential in the beginning of December with Arsenal. Man City is next at +13. I'm not just beating teams. I'm demolishing them. Even in the Champions League I've crushed Wolfsburg twice scoring 12 goals in 2 games against them. My team is playing unreal football. Alexis, Walcott, and Giroud all have at least 10 goals. Ozil, Ramsey, and Chamberlain are at 7, 6, and 9 respectively. Seriously the best I've done with Arsenal on a save.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Quick rundown, started a new save, had a bunch of leagues loaded and a list of teams that I wanted to manage, and I decided to sim until one of those jobs opened up. Well the Nottingham Forest job opened up first in October, took them over in a deceptive 23rd place(6 points between 23rd and 11th). Completely forgot about the transfer embargo, regretted it, came in to the team with 8 4 week or more injuries, guided the team into the January window and managed to offload a few players and bring in some new faces that have done well, as well as taking some of the Arsenal youth team(Zelalem, Bielik, Iwobi). We strung together a 6 game win streak against the rest of the bottom of the table and shot up. It's been a great year, still a bit injury filled, but here we are, two games left, our first game was against 4th placed Wolves.
Which leaves the table like this heading into the final matchday of the year...
We have MK Dons in the final match, Cardiff play Birmingham, QPR have Bristol City
I love these close knit title races, so here we go....Support Local Sports
