If you installed them both, when you start a new game, click on database in the top right. When the drop down opens, uncheck the one that says "Promotions and relegations ny".

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yeah, I believe it's called "club changes"—took me a few tries to figure out everything. Even with the custom start date the promotions may not be correct due to playoffs, so in my current save Fulham are in the PL instead of Huddersfield. Still, fun to start playing this season in anticipation of FM18.Comment

Good, I didn't want the job anyway.

I always get a good laugh when the board requests a meeting to improve the club. And that meeting is to increasing the transfer budget. Like I'm going to say no to that. And it gets better when they are always "delighted" when you agree to spend the money they want you to.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Its December 3rd, and my main striker has done this already.
Oh yeah I got fired from Oviedo, and Celtic hired me.
His 17 goals in the CL seems crazy impressive, but you have to remember most of that is early qualifying rounds against really bad small clubs. But still. 17 CL (5 group stage goals) and 13 league goals already.
So of course this happens...
...right before the last group stage game against Napoli, away. Where we have to win just to get third and go down to the EL. Thanks FM.

I won the home leg 2-1. Felt confident going into the away tie and didn't switch to my usual away tactic. I wanted to take the game to Juventus.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just wrapped up my 3rd season at AFC Tubize in Belgium (6th season overall in my Journeyman career). I've taken the club and really kind of stabilized things, I feel. Finished 12th my first year, 11th my 2nd year, and this year a very solid 8th.
It started out horribly, started out on a 5 game losing streak. I featured 3 players from my youth academy in my starting XI, so there were plenty of growing pains. But they really hit the ground running, and it's been really fun to see them progress.
Here's some of my top performers from the year, sorted by average rating. Nice to see my 3 Academy players all under 20 years old and consistently getting 7+ ratings.
I had to renew Van Hout's contract this year, and his agent wanted a release clause. I would not give it to them, and I ended up having to pony up some more salary up front, but now I have him locked down for 4 years, and he's already valued at $2.3m
I'm starting to get interview offers from various leagues, mostly 2nd division leagues in France and Italy, but I've also had a couple floundering first division teams in the Netherlands and Portugal. My reputation is rising though, so it's nice to see tangible evidence of that, with these clubs actively seeking me out.
I am starting to get somewhat attached to Tubize, especially with this class of youngsters coming up. I've decided that I want to stay and try get Tubize into Europe. I feel like that will raise my prestige enough to potentially get at least a solid mid-table job in one of the top leagues.
The biggest team I've ever managed in FM is Spurs, so my goal here is to make it to one of the "mega" clubs around the world. Thinking like Real Madrid, Barca, Juve, Bayern, or PSG. Would be pretty crazy to make it there after starting in the Belarusian 2nd division.Last edited by gopher_guy; 08-29-2017, 10:49 PM.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
As my eighth year at my beloved Viborg FF comes to a close, the club and I have made some difficult decision regarding the future of the club. Some of the players who helped establish Viborg in the Superliga and then take them to the next level by performing in the Europa League and Champions League are now set to leave the club at season's end.
When I took over Viborg FF on the 26th of May in 2017, the club had already confirmed relegation from the Superliga, and were looking to quickly rebuild the club into a team that could finally stop the yo-yo from the top flight to the first division.
10. Kevin Mensah
Spoiler
Kevin Mensah was bought from Brøndby IF in 2019 for 110k, Mensah had started his career at Viborg before moving on to Esbjerg, then Brøndby. In his second stint at Viborg Mensah added another 150 league appearances, bringing his total to 263 for Viborg and 32 goals. As an attacking midfielder, Mensah was central to my attack, and his excellent passing skills set up many goals for one of the other players moving on this year. A torn hamstring in 2022 set the stage for Mensah's decline, a then 21-year old Bo Ahrensborg would step in to the 10 role and flourish. Now 23, Ahrensborg has clearly cemented himself as the starter. Mensah had fought off other competition from a Brazilian wonderkind Dario Lima(now at West Ham) and Zoran Petrovic(now with Brøndby IF), but couldn't stop age and injuries from finally taking their toll. After a six year spell with the club, we say farewell to a Viborg lad, and wish him well in the future.
11. Bashkim Kadrii
Spoiler
Bashkim Kadrii was my first statement signing in 2018. Released from FC København, it took some long negotiations but Kadrii joined on a significantly reduced salary and immediately slotted in on the left side as an attacker. Kadrii has had a mostly unfortunate career, after a scintillating start at OB, he moved to København in 2014, but suffered a devastating knee injury, then a few weeks after suffered another catastrophic knee injury, limiting his once explosive speed and clean dribbling skills. He went on loan to Minnesota United for a year before returning to Denmark. Seeing Viborg as his chance to establish himself as the player he always should have been, Kadrii went on to make 165 appearances in his seven year spell at the club, netting 35 goals. More impressive is his 66 assists in those seven years, he was a major reason we qualified for the Championship Group in 2018/19, then won the title the very next year. Unfortunately for Kadrii, his injury history would once again catch up with him, and in 2023 he tore his achilles tendon which forced him to miss the entire second half of the year. The acquisition of Viktor Fischer and Niels Bjerregaard spelled the end for Kadrii. Seven years and Kadrii will remain a fan favorite.
9. Ivan Toney
Spoiler
Ivan Toney was the only player up until this point to be contracted to the club just about as long as I have been. He joined the club initially on loan in the 1st Division, and after scoring 16 goals and establishing himself as a first choice striker he was brought back for two more years on loan, then finally signed on a free from Newcastle in the 2020/21 season. A player I was always looking to push, Toney spent much of his Viborg career fending off other players from the top of the attack. I signed Nicolai Brock-Madsen from Birmingham in 2018, and he would end up leaving a year and a half later after Toney soundly beat him out for the first choice striker, He then met his biggest opposition in 2021, as french striker Eliott Rousseau would join the club from Valenciennes, Rousseau would push Toney, and see Toney net 32 goals to Rousseau's 18. Toney would remain with the club, but the young french starlet ended up moving to RB Leipzig for £40m in January of 2023. A dip in form saw me go back to the transfer market and end up with Loic Henry from Arsenal and Danish international Kasper Christiansen from Viking this competition proved to be too much, and Toney was finally displaced. Knee tendonitis would effectively end his Viborg career in 2024, and he was sent on loan to Belgium at OHL for the final year of his Viborg contract. Toney made 159 appearances and scored 102 goals in his time at Viborg, seven good years out of eight is something Greens fans will always be appreciative of.
Honorable Mentions:
Spoiler
Ibrahim Samrawi
A signing from the youth setup at FC København by former Head of Youth Development Christian Nielsen, Samrawi was an odd fit at first, joining in 2018, he was stuck firmly behind Bashkim Kadrii and Lucas Jensen on the wings, so he began training as a fullback. He would spend this time on loan at IA in Iceland. Utilizing him in many different formations, Samrawi would prove to be an amazingly versatile player. Making 165 appearances in the Superliga in his 7 years at Viborg he started at 8 different positions, his totals for each - 30 at Leftback, 4 at Left Wingback, 10 at Left Midfield, 27 as a Left Winger, 35 at Rightback, 10 at Right Wingback, 14 at Right Midfield and finally, 35 as a Right Winger. The definition of a team player, quick, and always solid, Samrawi will be sorely missed. He decided to move on to seek new challenges as a player, and after his service to the club, we were happy to oblige.
Martin Hansen
Re-joining Viborg FF was seen as a huge step-down for Martin Hansen, but after his tumultous time at Ingolstadt, maybe a step down is what he needed. Hansen spent two years at Viborg FF after his release from Liverpool in 2011, and his second stint lasted five years making 89 appearances, but more importantly had a massive influence on the new starting Goalkeeper, Viborg trainee Frederik Skjærbæk, as well as other Viborg Goalkeepers, including his replacement as reserve keeper next year, Jacob Hansen. Hansen still wants to play so the club was happy to let him leave for free, but he will undoubtedly rejoin me at some point in the future as a Goalkeeping coach if he wants.
Hiram Boateng
Boateng already left the club to move back to England with newly-promoted Huddersfield, but after signing in 2018, he made 171 appearances and served 3 years as the captain of Viborg. He wanted to move back to England and I was happy to let him go, even though the fans wanted him to stay.
Victor Wernersson
An admitted panic buy in January of 2017, Wernersson went on to make 162 appearances at Viborg before asking to move on, Wernersson has spent his 2024 in England at Bristol City. Wernersson was one of my best panic buys in the history of FM.
A true changing of the guard is happening, and it's both thrilling to see so many people come from my youth academy, and a little heart-wrenching to see so many club stalwarts leave.Support Local Sports
