Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
An idea I've been toying with....doing a save where I play the full match every time. I know it would take forever to complete anything, but something about having true tactical control of every minute sounds appealing.
Anyone ever try it? Does it get really boring? Is it too 'samey'?Teams:

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I was actually thinking about this last night myself. Not starting a save or doing it mind you. But how long it would take to get through a season if you did it.
And I don't think I could do it. In fact I'm almost 100% certain I couldn't. It sounds appealing in many aspects, but I'm fairly certain I'd give up into the first game and change it back to key or extended. It would take at least an hour if you had it on the fastest speed. And 2 hours on the normal speed. Per match. Every match. You'd be looking at roughly two months for one season, if not longer depending on the league/country.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finished my second season with Eibar in 14th again. My contract was up and I stepped down. I just don't like managing in Spain for some reason. Its odd. Every time I do I never have a good time, regardless of how well the team does. I hate how messed up player values are. I hate the excessive media questions. It seems like there way more than other countries. Players seem to turn on you very quickly. I just never enjoy anything about it.
So on to Germany with Heidenheim in the 2. Bundesliga.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Last season at Amiens was probably the best season of my tenure at Amiens. Still couldn't beat PSG, but I only lost the title by six points. There were missed opportunities that cost us the title. Two draws to Toulouse, a road draw to Le Havre, and a home draw to Nice. Those teams finished 16th, 17th, and 18th. Plus a road loss to Montpellier, who finished dead last. We only lost one match in the second half of the season, but six draws down the stretch relegated us to second place for the fourth straight season and fifth time in six years.
We also won our first Coupe de France with a 1-0 victory over Chateauroux...yes, a team from the third level of French football. We may have only beat them 1-0, but considering they didn't register a single shot, I'll take it the trophy. How did they get there exactly???
5th Round: AS Bayard Saumur (Amateur) 3-0
6th Round: RC Nevers-Challuy (Amateur) 3-0
7th Round: ESM Gonfreville (Semi-Pro) 4-1
8th Round: Orleans (National) 3-2
9th Round: Creteil (National) 1-0
10th Round: Tours (Ligue 1) 0-0 P
11th Round: Strasbourg (Ligue 2) 2-0
Quarters: Toulouse (Ligue 1) 2-0
Semis: PSG (Ligue 1) 1-0
They did something we couldn't do all year...beat PSG. On our road to the title...
9th Round: Red Star (Ligue 2) 3-1
10th Round: Niort (Ligue 2) 3-1
11th Round: Sainte-Genevieve Sports (CFA) 4-0
Quarters: Saint-Etienne (Ligue 1) 1-0
Semis: Marseille (Ligue 1) 2-0
As for the Coupe de la Ligue, playing the second XI, we made it to the semis, where we lost 6-1 to PSG.
In Champions League, we automatically qualified for the group stage but failed to make it out of our group. We garnered seven points in a group consisting of Manchester United, Porto, and FC Red Bull Salzburg. The highlight of the group was going to Old Trafford and beating United 4-2.
We dropped into the knockout stages of Europa where we just curb stomped all comers.
1st Round: def CSKA Moscow 3-1
2nd Round: def Napoli 6-1
Quarters: def Chelsea 5-1
Semis: def Barcelona 3-1 (only fitting that Tula bagged two goals and an assist across both legs, I bought him from these guys)
And we would meet a familiar foe in the finals...Monaco. We swept them aside 5-2.
My attack was amazing all season. Nazareno Tula, Stefan Ziemer (loanee from Leverkusen), and Nacho Varela combined for 72 goals across all competitions. Won the manager of the year award...things were looking great.
But then came the projection that we may not pass Financial Fair Play. Two straight early exits out of the Champions League did us no favors. Plus, us winning the French Cup and Europa League activated several transfer clauses. Oops. I have no transfer funds, which causes me to not be able to go after loans that could make a difference. I make a couple of small moves, but my first team is VERY thin. Lots of young, unproven players in my second XI.
And of course, right on cue...
A catastrophic leg injury to Nacho Varela and we get off to our worst start in my tenure. The media is even beginning to question how long my tenure will last. We right the ship and by matchday 20, we've somehow pulled ourselves back up into second place. PSG has raced away while the rest of the league is just beating up on each other. 2nd-11th is separated by only 7 points.
However...a certain team in England just fired their manager. After seven straight seasons of Champions League football, this club finished 7th in the Premier League last season. On November 26th, following a 0-1 loss to Bournemouth, Thomas Tuchel was fired with the club languishing in 16th place. I get a phone call....what to do...what to do...

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I just went back to my Viborg turned Arsenal save, because I'm angry that Slovenia takes 3 months off in the winter in a temperate climate, AND the three months aren't a full break. It's a weird thing to be mad at sure, but Football Managing is a weird game.
Arsenal were taken over in 2023, and have had a run of bad managers since then, finishing as low as 8th, and only as high as 5th. I re-did most of the attack with my 200m transfer budget after selling the players that didn't want to be there anymore, and we've basically been surprisingly unstoppable. 3 losses in the league, 0 losses in the Europa League(into the 2nd KO round vs Aberdeen), a fifth round exit to Man City in the FA Cup, and a League Cup win(mostly by accident). The Carabao Cup ended up being Arsenal's first 'trophy' since Rafa won the Community Shield in 2019.
Also, this matchup with Pep Guardiola have been fan-pleasers, for sure.
The 2-0 loss was when I fielded my rotational squad, because we had the 2nd ko round match against Sevilla in 2 days.
Here's the accidental League Cup win on penalties
On a steady course to win the league in my first year, what a nice start that would be.Support Local Sports
