In season 21/22, just finished 7th in the league but won the Europa League final with Arsenal.

    Cue the Champions League theme.

I've dabbled a bit in FM 21, but I still have a save going in FM 19 with the house rule that I don't apply for jobs, but I do accept job interviews and make the decision from there.

      2018/19 - Rangers - 1st
      2019/20 - Rangers - 1st (undefeated and domestic treble)
2020/21 - Rangers - 1st (left in middle of season)
2020/21 - Athletic - 6th (arrived in relegation fight in December)
      2021/22 - Athletic - 5th
      2022/23 - Athletic - 6th
      2023/24 - Athletic - 3rd (manager of the year)
      2024/25 - Athletic - 2nd
2025/26 - Athletic - 3rd (had a shot at the title on the final day, but Madrid and Barca both won)

The transfer policy at Athletic is fun to work with.

Currently second in LaLiga Santander with Malaga predicted to finish 12th and board only wanted a top half finish so over achieving!, also Pablo Chavarria scoring one of the best long range bombs I've seen!

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Got tired of finishing 2nd and 3rd to Real Madrid and Barcelona. So after seven years, and an offer from Spain to become the national manager, I've resigned from Athletic.

Had a record of 233-83-77 over those seven years, but couldn't win any silverware whatsoever.

Figured I would be realistic and not run both club and country. Then after the World Cup, figured I will resign and find a new club.

EDIT: I'm deep enough in that the World Cup now has a 48 team format....not a fan.

Edit2: The media is upset that I have picked David De Gea for the squad. One, he has 148 caps. Two, he is retiring after the World Cup. And three...he is the third choice keeper...how the hell am I going to bring someone else on who can make a bigger impact? Only way he's getting into the game is if I have nothing to play for.

David has earned every right to close out his career with being on this World Cup squad.

Edit 3: Flamed out in the second round of the World Cup, losing on penalties to Senegal. I was surprised Spain didn't fire me. I just went ahead and resigned though. Ready to get back into club management...but where to go?

I got this guy in my youth, now if I get some semi-decent defenders and midfield, maybe I'll get somewhere in international competitions since I have this guy at striker.

            Good start the year

Looking for a new challenge. Getting bored of the EPL and English football in general.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a nation and team I could use to focus mainly on youth? Trying to stay away from England and will be willing to go almost anywhere else.

Been pondering Scotland or Ireland but also partial to Brazil (The Americas scare the hell out of me)

Tired of the big teams and the Prem, looking to work my way up from the bottom!

Try a team in Slovakia (or any eastern European nation really). I download a database for Slovakia (down to level 4) from https://fmslovakia.com/en/addons/databases/fm-2021/ and it's pretty fun. I think any eastern European team would be a challenge and fun.

Or, select Barca and try to get them below the LaLiga salary restrictions.

FM will be adding the women's game. Not anytime soon. But in the next few years. They have a lot of work ahead of them.

I'm actually one who is looking forward to this. It will give new, fresh save ideas. FM has gotten pretty stale for me. And I have a hard time playing a save for long periods of time like I used to.

I'm excited about the announcement as well. I wonder if this has been in the works for a while or if Sports Interactive are responding to We Are Soccer (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1..._ARE_FOOTBALL/) who already have the men's and women's games.

Anyone here still playing Football Manager? I'm currently playing FM21 on the Switch while I wait to pick up an older laptop so I can play my favourite version; FM11.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Absolutely LOVING my Barcelona rebuild right now.

1st season we finished 2nd to Real Madrid in La Liga finishing with 82 points going 26-4-8. Messi ended up being the top goal scorer and top assist man in the league but we couldn't seem to get our act together in other areas of the offense. Grizemann started hot and then faded to obscurity, and Dembele was absolutely worthless.

The best thing to come out of the first season was the progress of Ansu Fati and Pedri becoming integral parts of our team! We also lost in the final of the Copa Del Rey to Valencia, then were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-final to Real Madrid of all teams.

Came close to losing my job many times during the season, but we finished on a 7 game win streak to end the year and I saved myself.

In the off-season, went full blitzkrieg mode with the transfers. We brought in a bunch of guys who I thought would elevate us to the next level, and boy, have they ever.

                          Erling Haaland
                          Eduoardo Camavinga
                          Declan Rice
                          Niklas Sule
                          Milan Skrinrar
                          David Alaba
                          Giorgino Wijnaldum (FREE SIGNING)
                          Declan Rice
                          Nikola Milenkovic
                          Yousoufa Moukoko

All brought in during the summer and winter transfer windows, and we're absolutely dominating the leauge this year

23 games into the La Liga season and we're a solid 21-2-0 in first place with 65 points and Real Madrid trailing us with 57.

We're in the Semi-Finals of the Copa Del Rey and we just drew Dortmund in the first round of the champions league.

Of course, Haaland and Messi are DOMINATING the league. Haaland already has 29 league goals, and Messi leads the league in assists with 10. Haaland isn't too far behind that mark with 7 himself.

This team is clicking on ALL cylinders but I think our defense might be the anchor of this entire setup. Sule and Skrinriar at the back are impenetrable at times and it's a joy seeing them work. We've scored the most goals, while conceding the fewest and having the fewest shots against, along with the most shutouts.

It looks like we're going to run away with the league this year so I'll be looking to concentrate on the champions league in the upcoming weeks. We're continuously negative in the bank, so prize money and money from sales keep us afloat most of the time. I'm excited to see where the next few months take us.

After shelving the game for the longest period of time since I found this addiction, I started up where I left off and I'm just in love again. This game really is just something else. Excited to see features for 22 but not expecting anything revolutionary. Hoping to figure out my first save in the meantime for 22. Right now between Viborg and Venezia.

Funny. I put the game down months ago. I've almost taken a full year off really. I only put 250 hours into 21. Last time I played was in May. And before that January. The only game under 1K hours since I started playing FM. And I'm getting super excited for 22. I think I'll hold off on playing again until that releases. But I'm starting to get the itch to get stuck into a deep save again. As I didn't care too much for 21 for a few reasons, I'm trying not to start up a save in that again. Fearing it will make me fall off again not not want to play 22.
