Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
report that we might get yaya toure plus 35-40mil for Cesc...to be honest I wont mind loosing cesc if we get one of the best Def midfield in the world plus some money to buy Yoan Gourcuff...with that kind of deal Cesc departure wont be as bad as we tough.Comment

"Take a story from the wires, maybe re-write it a bit, add something in the final paragraph to put a 'personal' touch on it and publish. It's not even monkeys and typewriters. It's lazy, it's cheap and pathetic. Who can make the most clickable headline about Cesc's departure? Forget facts, forget the fact Arsenal have said they won't sell, forget the fact he has a contract, forget the fact Barcelona can't afford him, let's just try and send one of the best players in the world to a different league. Idiots."
Barcelona have admitted that Arsenal haven't been in touch with them since Arsenal said they weren't selling, so all these rumors about player swapping and doubling offers aren't true. The rumors are just the English media trying to drum up interest and drive visitors to their websites.
The fact is, 35 mil is not enough for Cesc, period (and that's even if Arsenal would consider selling), and throwing in Toure (who is not one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, btw) will not sway Arsenal in the slightest. Toure is rumored to be an Arsenal target every year, and every year it's the same: Arsenal aren't interested. While I wouldn't object to Toure if he came cheaply (but not part of a Cesc deal), I think that Denilson and Song are more than capable of holding down the fort at DM next year, and I would rather Arsenal focus on more pressing matters, like getting a new GK.Comment

These rumors are all BS. To quote from today's Arseblog:

These are rumours , true but these are some *** **** good ones...its actualy a deal that could take place...who care what Arseblog dude is saying..***mours and stories he's on the same page and not considering Yaya toure as one of the best def midfielders...you must be kidding me friend.
But One thing for sure...wether Barca cant afford Fab...the kid want to leave.
Now, does he want to play for Barca at some point yes, but don't simply believe everything you read on the internet. It's easy for anyone to take Cesc saying one day he wants to play for Barca, and turn it into Cesc saying he's turned in a transfer request. He hasn't, and until an actual quote from an actual source comes out and says Cesc stated he wants to leave right now, it's best to not believe anything.Comment

"Move" and "made a move" have completely different implications, at least to me. "Move" means more "showing interest", while "made a move" means "a deal has been agreed".YNWA

I guess that's how the brits word things. When they say "Make a move" it means they have made an attempt at signing him. Meaning they have sent in an offer to his current club. Which Arsenal did.Comment

Lost in translation, I guess. There was actually a good bit on that on Craig Ferguson last night (touching a women's fanny seems to mean completely different things in English english and American english).YNWA

Looks like we have actually made a bid for Schwarzer and had it turned down."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
His dad coming out and saying that is to me the same as a Barca player coming out and saying that. Has he spoken to his father about it? Obviously he has, however, why would he ask his father to tell the media such a thing?
It's the problem with transfers such as this, that anyone can make anyone a source. Until I see quotation marks concerning this, I'm still believing that Cesc has no problem at all staying with Arsenal. A website saying they spoke to Cesc's father and he said his son wanted to leave is not a credible source. They're using what could be an actual source to cause even more of a frenzy, and it's clearly Barca who is on the end of all of this.
It's an absolutely disgusting way to do business, and it's a shame it has gone unpunished.
When we hear a quote from Cesc talking to the media, and he states that he had a meeting with Wenger and it was the best of his life, and that his future is in the club's hands, I'll take that over someone just saying they spoke to Cesc's father.
If the supposed quote from his father was that valid, I think we'd see it still floating around the media quite a bit. However, I have seen it mostly disappear, which tells me either credible news outlets have realized it's not worth using, or those that are spreading it realized it wasn't working and have stopped pumping it into the fray.Comment
