The first goal came as no surprise to me, as we just seemed nervous and afraid to play. Luckily, RVP showed his utter brilliance and I think we'll come out of the half controlling it and keeping it in their half.

        Wow.

I'd like to take this opportunity to formally apologize for bringing Cleveland sports luck to the Arsenal organization. I've seen the end of that Final a dozen times over my lifetime.

Quad's are so overrated. Trebles are more romantic.

I don't know what's more unbelievable, the goal we conceded in the 90th minute out of utter stupidity or the fact that straight after the kickoff following it, Sagna and Bendtner held the ball on the right side of the 18 and our desperation for a goal and sheer attacking superiority provided us with TWO whole players in the box. What goes through the players heads at that point? "Oh well we can pass it around and manufacture a goal in 5 minutes. Heaving the ball forward into the box clearly has never worked in the history of the game. We should be fine with taking our time." We don't deserve anything this year after that performance.

As far as I'm concerned, they decided not to hold the Carling Cup final and canceled it, so it was never played. Denial is wonderful.

I wonder if the Arsenal squad can deny this so successfully.

The only way I can deal with it right now is to honestly forget about it. Not even joking. To me, the game never happened. Because if it did, then I'd be drinking heavily at this point.

So, I'm all for our youth system, not over spending on players and all that jazz, but there are moments in today's game when one must really open up the wallet and spend. There are two things we must do this Summer. Buy a proven world class central defender and keeper. Period. No prospects, nobody for the future. They need to be ready to step in and play. It's not as if we'd be buying a team, we'd just be buying two pieces.

Djourou and Koscielny will not cut it in the first team with Vermaelen. Obviously, none of our keepers currently will, either.

Get Nasri a contract extension and get Ramsey back and I think we're fine in the midfield and forward areas for next season, plus what I said before.

We still are in three competitions and giving how we've played in the FA Cup, the league might be our best chance as United have slipped up several times this season and face Chelsea on Tuesday.

Okay, enough random thoughts. I'm literally putting today out of my head for the most part and moving on. Optimism, here I come...for now.

I completely agree with you bud. I was really really upset and gutted after the game. Yes, I know it's the Carling Cup, but I really expected us to win. Our defense was simply not up to par. Birmingham easily could have scored 2 before RVP equalized.

Once RVP was subbed, I had a feeling we might be in trouble. Bendtner and Chamakh aren't nearly as good. When we missed chance after chance, I had a feeling something silly would happen and it did.

However, we're still in 3 competitions and we need to get over this and get ready for the replay and Sunderland.

I do have my scarf, toque, and hoodie on order from the shop. My Wilshere jersey alone wasn't good enough today

Two things from the arseblog, Wenger said the prognosis on RVP's knee is "not good"...****.

                        The other, though, I love.

"It is a massive disappointment for the team but we have massive challenges in front of us – the Carling Cup is four games, five games but a championship season is 38. We will not throw 38 games away because of one game."

thoroughly disappointed with the result, as most in here are...

But I just don't get the reluctance to spend money on a player or two when it's needed. I understand the development of the youth already in the organization, but when you need someone today, then go get them.

The side fielded against Leyton was a mess, and I'm positive the result will be there for us at the Emirates - but it shouldn't have come to a replay.

Anyway, it is what it is. Unfortunately.

And if he (Wenger) thinks that we (the Team) are in the "drivers" seat as far as the PL is concerned, he's a bit hopeful. Sure, ManU has some difficulty ahead but we still have Liverpool, Stoke again, and ManU. And a 1-0 win against Stoke doesn't fill me confidence, especially how we looked the second half against Birmingham and gave up a winner in the manner we did. Just frustrating!

And I think ManU are in the drivers seat, as hard as that is to "type".

You never know. Man U have to play you guys at home they play Chelsea twice and they play us next weekend. It's too early to tell. I think the game at the Emirates on May 1st will be the decider.

I agree. I truly think the PL title will come down to that game. I think either they'll only be a few points ahead of us by then, or us ahead of them, or level. If they were playing like the ManU of a few seasons ago I'd say it's over, but they're not.

If we play like Saturday, Man U is going to beat us 5-0.
