Reyna and Berhalter have been friends for ages too, this is the start of some Hatfield vs McCoy type silliness lmao.

Tbh, this is basically standard US club sports parent behavior from the Reynas.

I would think so. Be different if it was club soccer but I think with it being a national team that allows time for things to settle down

It's just wild to me that the Reynas would jeopardize a lifetime of friendship over this, that kid has like 4 more world cup cycles he could feasibly participate in, and this is a soccer family that absolutely should know how all this works lmao.

            Pretty ridiculous decision from them.

I know women can hold on to things for a while but 30 years? That is too long ago for something to be at the forefront of your thoughts for it to be a ready made comparison you just happen to make.

It wasn't just frustration over playing time, it was a vindictive attempt to bury their so called friend.

I'm almost impressed that they've been friends for so long and thats the only dirt they would have on him.

Feeling some sympathy for Gregg here. He just wanted to coach soccer for his country and look at what kind of **** he has to deal with.

**** like this is why we are never going to progress as a footballing nation.

The weirdest part to me, is that I didn't even really think anything Gregg said shed Gio in that bad of a light. Most of the respected voices I listen to and/or converse with said it just sounded like Gio was a 19-year old kid. Gio would've been just fine in the long run.

Hopefully(though unlikely) some parts of US Soccer will realize this is also what happens when your highest positions are all taken by inner circle people. This fracture is sad, and arguably bigger than '98, as someone who did ultimately want Berhalter replaced, it all just feels so dirty now.

Its a "good ol boys club"

Another reason it needs to reform and not be such a closed system

This has been the problem with USSF for a very long time, and anyone that’s come along wanting to make big changes has been booted out the door

On the bright side….you haven’t really arrived on a national scale until you’ve had a good scandal.

The absurdity is roughly proportional to the absurdity of some of Berhalter's decisions...so, par for the course, perhaps, for these spoiled nitwits.

USSF continues to be a tone-deaf embarrassment.

What happened first… did Berhalter tell Gio he wasn’t going to play much and then Gio trained poorly or

Did Gio train poorly and then Greg said he wasn’t going to play much?
