    Re: Official USMNT/USWNT Thread

I'm choosing to believe my repeated inquiries as to what Brian McBride does as the "GM" of the national team has resulted in him being fired, definitely nothing else going on in US Soccer that could have caused it.

So apparently Jose Mourinho is among the list of potential replacements according to the DailyMail.

I don't want it because I want the US to succeed

I do want it, because becoming an unserious chaos federation is on my bucket list.

Not sure he’d want to leave Roma right now but who knows really.

        It would obviously be hilarious.

He would love the attention, but there's also a lot more downtime in terms of serious competition in national team football, so maybe he'd be bored. Idk.

Now I will surely never know, as Earnie Stewart has left US Soccer to go to the Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven.

My repeated inquires into what Earnie Stewart and Brian McBride actually do will never be answered.

At least in good news, the departures of both of them has the US looking at the structure of US Soccer, with a "strategic review" planned.

I'm hoping they promote Frank Wijbenga honestly. I'd love to see how the next 4-years go with an analytically minded person running the show. The game is about numbers to him, which would eliminate a lot of the "boys club" thinking when any selections are made (coaches, players, etc.).

Could you imagine Mourinho giving a press conference in Central America before a match? What could possibly go wrong?

Probably get half the team killed or at least objects thrown at them with some outrageous statements.

I doubt he leaves Roma anytime soon, either.

But one analytic minded person in a room full of nepotists is a recipe for disaster.

You have to go all-in throughout the entire organization on analytics. Hopefully the strategic review mentioned a few posts ago is real and now just pr talking points.

                        Just read it myself...

                        holy cow.

Fingers crossed that the potential of this move materializes.

We are better than them and fully in Mexico’s head now, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

With Berhalter probably returning (announcement likely today), what does that mean for Gio Reyna? Is the hatchet buried?

Leave it to USSF to announce this between beating Mexico 3-0 and a final.
