That Silva goal was 100% on Alonso. That was absolutely shameful ball-watching from him, he has no idea Silva was running into the box at all.

Zouma really just needed minutes coming off his injury (ACL) 2 years ago and he’s been a fixture for Stoke in a 3man backline.

      AC
      Azpi
      Rudiger
Ampadu (although I like him better at CDM)
Tomori (starter on the 2016 U-19 France team that won the Euros with Mbappe, JK Augustin, Issa Diop)
      Zouma/Cahill/Luiz

A lot will depend on what system the next manager employs.

I agree KG, I see Ampadu as a more natural CDM as well.

Looks like we’re getting Asencio and Isco for Hazard boys... [emoji23]

Would make sense tho since we are trying to build a mini Spanish National team.

Joking aside, I’m still a believer Hazard will be a blue next season.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

This will be a very big summer for us with Conte almost certainly leaving, Courtois and Hazard up in the air, and the club seemingly undecided on which direction they want to build the club.

I do think we have a chance of keeping Hazard, but it would require likely spending some cash (on another attacker), and bringing in a manager with an attack-minded philosophy.

Eden just wants to play, if we can give him that then imo we have a great chance of convincing him to stay.

Honestly I think if we brought in somebody like Tuchel/Sarri/Rogers, and some exciting attackers like Bailey/Lozano/Guedes/Martins or even Mahrez, and then really committed to a specific plan; we might even have a chance of keeping Eden if we miss out on CL.

Don't think we could get Mahrez if we miss CL, but those other 4 are young enough that 1 year out wouldn't really be a big deal, and we would have fewer games and could really storm the league with a younger, hungry squad and get right back in.

Being honest though, I do think we can still turn things around this season and get top 4, but we need to pull our heads out of our butts like right now.

It all starts with Palace this weekend. Then we have a CL game against Barca and a FA game against Leicester City. Then Spurs but before that I assume we will finally play Burnley.

So yeah, next 30 days will determine a lot of where we are in the season.

Right now the Palace game has got me really nervous.

Looks like Bakayoko is back in training, hoping that the long layoff gave him time to rest and just get away from all the negativity.

He's definitely not been great, but there is a quality player in there and he's had literally zero time to get settled. Joined the team injured, had no preseason, was supposed to be gradually eased into the team but the first choice DM got sold so all of a sudden he was supposed to walk into the starting 11 of the league champions and deliver right from jump (coming back from a long knee injury).

Also cautiously optimistic about Barkley. So many people keep saying he's crap and spouting that "I don't even know what he's good at" nonsense, but he was clearly a good player at Everton, and he also rarely got to play his actual preferred position and was still their top chance creator by a country mile.

Not sure we will get to see either of those two at their best this season, but next season I think they will both come out of the gates swinging.

Barkley I think can be a huge steal at the price point if he stays healthy because the talent is there.

Baka... I like him and he can be a very good player for us. Confidence is low, form is low, and injuries didn't help like you mentioned Brav. Plus the adjustment to new club, new coach and of course the EPL. But, he can still turn out to be a a very good CDM.

I remember reading last year some French reporters thought he was better than Pogba. We won't kid ourselves because Pogba has that natural flair and they're 2 different midfielders. However, Baka at full form, at his best has shown he is a tank in the midfield.

Yeah we have to show some real ambition this summer which could be a little tough considering a lot of top players will be occupied by the WC and might not want to divert their focus for the first month of the window. And you know us Chelsea fans go into panic mode now when we don’t get business wrapped up early.

I think the next manager will play a more attacking style to convince Eden to stay and potentially attract really good players. I’d love a Lemar, an established international plus Willian and one of the young studs you mentioned Brahv. I think that would give us pretty good depth with Morata, Giroud, and possibly Tammy/Michy (depending on what they want to do in terms of battling it out). Giroud and Morata are pretty injury prone so a 3rd choice ST on our club (assuming our new manager sticks to 1 up top) isn’t bad.

Yeah I was thinking we really a need a creative Mf will the ball and then I was like, wait we have Ross. Hopefully we can get him back on track. I feel like we rushed him and Baka back too soon.

Is Zaha fit? He gives us fits

Tbh I’d rather have Bailey than Lemar.

Kid is balling out hard in a much better league at a younger age as well.

Oh I love Bailey (fellow rude boy) don't get me wrong but to me Lemar is the more polished player right and he's still only 22. Plus he can fill in at LWB too.

To be honest I want them both.

I have a feeling our next manager won't be using 3 at the back, but Lemar I believe plays center mid as often as he plays out wide so that might be how we'd use him.

I guess my reservations with Lemar is that he typically plays in Hazards position, and he's not a natural goalscorer so I don't think we could just throw him onto the right side and expect him to start cutting inside and banging in goals.

He's definitely very creative which we lack sometimes, but imo our biggest problem is just lack of immediate offensive threat outside of Hazard.

Unbelievable Morata. 10th yellow card of the year means he’ll be suspended for Spurs and Leicester.

Giroud proved today that we play better with him up top holding the play up and staying on his feet but it would be nice cut this BS out. He’s lucky the linesman didn’t get him sent off for slapping the flag out of his hand.

Anyways, a bit of luck and bad luck today. We could have easily scored 6 but could have also given up the 3 points.

                            Anyways, on to Catalonia.

No one in the league has more dumb yellow cards then him. He could have got an instant 2nd yellow for clapping which he has got before. Disappointing... he seems more worried about being the tough guy then putting results that actually matter.

Anyways, suspension sucks but at this point I rather have Giroud up front than him.

I just pray we don’t play Hazard as false 9... let’s go with Giroud and see what happens. Pique at times struggles with these kinds of forwards.

Some reports saying that because 2 of his yellows turned into a red that his yellow card count is actually at 8.

I agree Alt. Willian has played his way into the XI at Barca.

So how do we line-up tomorrow?

I think we know the backline

                                Rudi - AC - Dave

                                Alonso & Moses at wingback

                                Kante in the middle.

                                Here’s where it gets interesting

Eden and I think Willian have to play. Is it Giroud up top with them in a 3-4-3? Is it the same trio we used for the first leg?

Do we go 3-5-2 with Baka in at midfield and Eden-Willian up top?

                                So many questions...
