Reading about Mendy, I'm not sure he is the stopgap that everyone is making him out to be. Apparently Cech has had a very active role in scouting him, and both he and the GK coach are big fans.

Navas was around the same age when he moved to Real and had similar numbers to Mendy and ended up killing it. Maybe this guy will surprise us.

Plus, if Pete's happy we're happy.

Yeah I heard the same thing Brahv. I knew something was up because 18mil for a "stopgap" keeper didn't really make sense. If we really wanted a stopgap keeper we would have went the loan route.

He's almost like the anti-Kepa. He's tall, good on set pieces and in dealing with crosses I guess his weakness is short passes but I'd rather have an excellent shot stopper first.

Can't believe the season starts for us Monday. Seems like we played a few days ago but the next time we see our Blues there will be so many new faces although Ziyech and Chillwell have been ruled out.

pretty sloppy but its the first game so whatever.

Werner looked quite good honestly, Havertz definitely had a bad game but again its the first game. Mason looked like he normally does, I think Ruben will take a while before he's not playing scared anymore, same with CHO. Kepa maybe could have saved that, but it's hard to tell, looked like there were a lot of people in front of him.
