Kepa maybe could have saved that, but it's hard to tell, looked like there were a lot of people in front of him.
I honestly would loan RLC out. He needs minutes and confidence. He's not gonna get that here with performances like that yesterday.

I think what frustrated me the most about yesterday wasn't even Kepa, it was the fact that we had numerous chances to release Timo and for whatever reason RLC/Barkley,Jorgi/etc... held the pass until too late. I'm literally yelling at my TV...."Just pass it into space!"

I don't even think Kai was that bad, playing him on the wing was just a waste. It should have Kai in the 10 and CHO out-wide right. CHO was beastly with the U23 England squad before the match. He's much more ready than RLC, just by the nature of his injury being less severe.

All said though, we didn't play well at all and we still won and scored 3 goals. We were never going to hit the ground running but I'm excited to see what happens when we gel.

Yeah RLC just looks scared whenever he is out there, maybe a loan somewhere that won't have a ton of pressure on his shoulders that would give him plenty of game time is best.

Hopefully CHO starts next game, pretty crazy to start RLC there instead.

Agree about Werner, like that's his thing, you pass it into space on the break and nobody can catch him.

        Well that wasn't very ideal.

Weird game though honestly, because up until the Spurs goal I would have said overall that our game was fine and there were some positives to take away etc. Even the defense was fine up until Emerson came on and forgot to actually play soccer.

People blaming Frank for the loss but our attackers pretty much made the worst possible decision each time they got into the final third with the ball, that's not really Frank's fault.

Also yeah the game was boring but Havertz didn't play, and we are still missing our two most exciting attackers. I think going forward we will be fine once everyone stops being injured and the team starts to gel.

So obviously that was less than ideal.

I’m still waiting to see what our team looks like when we actually have everyone available for a match.

I also can see why the club wants Rice. I do think that a good genuine DM could be the missing piece to the puzzle, but obviously Rice is an expensive puzzle piece.

Yeah we gotta remember that with all of the new pieces it's going to take some time to gel considering there was no real preseason and a lot of guys were returning from injuries.

What is concerning though is the amount of mistakes that lead to goals.

Kai gave the ball away in a dangerous area for the first goal (he owned up to it).

The Zouma-Kepa fiasco for the 2nd goal.

Excited to see what the XI looks like tomorrow for Sevilla.

Chelsea's Technical Director, Petr Cech gets a spot on the 25 man squad and Danny Drinkwater doesn't. Poor Danny! Man, his career has gone in the toilet.

There are at least 3 American players contracted at Chelsea, and 0 at Arsenal.

So why does Arteta hate America?

Kroenke only cares about America if he can exploit it, and her taxpayers.

Look at the one American male at Arsenal in Folarin Balogun, am extremely promising striker, but has no competitive match experience, and they tried to get 15m for him. Kroenkes hatred of America is at least well documented. I don't see it getting much better, but I sure won't be spending a lot of time with that apolitical club.

Pulisic was among the best players in the world from the restart to the end of the year on the left, and now Lampard sees fit to put him on the right? Also there's this - https://www.goal.com/en/news/lampard...n1omt5gp4b3ugv

I mean it would also help if he could stay fit but yeah, playing him at RW to accommodate for Mount is beyond infuriating.

Most Chelsea fans rate Mount, they just hate seeing him play wide because he’s neither pacy nor a dribbler.

I have nothing against Mount, that's why I'm calling out Lampard, it kind of started as a joke because he was injured, and it felt like putting Chelsea's first match on Peacock was a way to get people to sub to see Pulisic, but now that Pulisic is actually healthy, I don't know why Lampard would put him on the right. I didn't know if there was something I was missing talent-wise, or "we're putting everyone else in their best position, and sacrificing Pulisic a little to do so" or what else is going on.

Also from my own recollection of Mount's youth, I feel like he was better centrally than on either wing, he would drift left to cut in a bit on his right and play passes, but most of his action came centrally, maybe I'm misremembering though.

Mount’s more of an 8/10 but he’s not getting minutes as a 10 over Kai or Ziyech.

I’d suspect that once Ziyech gets fully fit he’ll push Pulisic to LW. The problem, and it’s a good one to have is that we have to accommodate Kai as a 10 which means a 4-2-3-1 which leaves Mount out to dry cuz he’s neither a winger, the best #10 option, nor is he a middie in a double pivot.

We’re still very much a work in progress. Yesterday was the first time in Lamps brief managerial career at Chelsea where he’s had the entire roster at his disposal.

You could push Havertz back to the withdrawn playmaker role, as he did spend time there at Leverkusen, though it was in his younger days, and you'd really want a full defensive midfielder next to him to cover his attacking runs. Is Kante dead now? I feel like an interesting top half formation for you all would have Werner up top, Pulisic and Ziyech on the wings, Mount central and Havertz/Kante in the double pivot. You get Kante to clean up and break up the play in transition, and you basically add a second feeder to the attack in Havertz coming in from deep.

Ideally I suppose Mount is just dropped as he's not the best player in any position he could fill, but Lampard seems reluctant to do that.
