I would either move Kante up or replace him with Abraham.

I'm just about as biased as you could possibly be as he's my favorite player ever, but he's the greatest Chelsea player of all time. There are definitely a few that deserve to be in the conversation, but at the end of the day it has to be him.

He was a generational talent the likes of which we probably won't see again for a long time. Often billed as a jack-of-all-trades master of none, largely due to the existence of Gerrard and a wildly pro-Liverpool media, the reality is he was a jack-of-all-trades master of everything. Legitimately zero weakness in his game at his peak, and a level of consistency in performance that is still wild to think about over a decade later.

I still don't think that level of consistency at those levels of quality is properly appreciated. You still see Zidane as largely considered the best midfielder of all time, and I've gotten into a lot of arguments with friends over the years because I think Iniesta is better. Zidane was capable of pretty magical 11/10 performances, but also had plenty of 5/10 performances as well. With Iniesta, while he certainly had far fewer 11/10 games, you were virtually guaranteed at least a 9.5 every single time at his peak. For me, this is basically how I've always seen the Gerrard vs Lampard debate.

Anyway, slight rant, but yeah I love Lampard.

Oh man Brahv you're going to get a little mad at me for this one because Zidane & Drogba are my two favorites.

I never saw Lamps as a generational talent (not saying he isn't talented ) but more as a guy that because of his work ethic he got absolutely everything out of his talent. He's bringing that to us now as he's always talking about "afters" with the young guys to make sure the youth teams kids are getting in their work after practice. To me that's what made him, then Jose just unleashed him.

The crazy part is that he would be even more valuable in today's game. A box-to-box that can give you 20+ goals a year for a decade, go the full 90, can play any style, and puts his head down while not causing a stir of the pitch. Gerrard was an incredible player with a few different qualities but man, what could have been had he accepted our bid.

I like Iniesta but I always thought guys like Ballack, Viera, and even Modric were/are better. Completely different types of middies though.

If I had to pick the most talented Chelsea player I'd probably pick Eden but I might have a different definition of "talent". For me, he probably came out of the womb turning defenders. I'm old....but not old enough to have seen a prime Zola.

I would also say Hazard is the most naturally gifted player to wear a Chelsea shirt, I just have most talented and best as two different categories.

Hazard is almost certainly our most talented player ever, but Frank imo is the greatest.

I do think his natural abilities are downplayed quite often, and he’s just seen as this really hard worker that was very consistent. Like I said, often considered a jack-of-all-trades but master of none, of which is wildly incorrect.

Definitely Brahv. Even though the “fat frank” banter came we (Chelsea fans) never questioned his fitness.

Do you think he was greater than JT?

Those are my 1/2 for all-time Blues. The order to me doesn’t matter because they go together like PB&J.

Really hard to choose between those two tbh, I agree it could go either way.

Really the top 3 of JT, Lamps and Osgood seems like order probably doesn’t matter too much.

Looks like we finally signed that kid Xavier Mbuyamba from Barca. He wanted to sign last year but alas the ban.

Supposed to be the next VVD. Man that’s a heavy burden placed on an 18yr old.

I'd be fine if he just ended up being a 1st team choice, even as a backup.

Hearing we are thinking about Thiago Silva on a short contract, i think that's definitely the best route as he's still good and gives us another year to evaluate younger more long term options.

Sounds like maybe we are moving forward with Thiago Silva?

Would be a great short term signing.
