I saw Mikel score, left shortly after that.

I love it when he scores, the whole team always runs over to him and everybody is so happy.

Physically he's ready to play now, just needs minutes and time to grow the mental side of things.

I forgot that Ake was out hurt.
Pretty much what I saw too. Dude looked like he belongs.

Not pretty in today's QF with Derby (other than a few moments of brilliance ie Felipe Luis free kick) but I'm certainly happy with the result.

I just hope Drogba and Zouma are okay. Zouma got the worst of it, between the two.

According to Chelsea's Twitter profile, he'll be available for Stoke this weekend.

And that Luis FK was amazing!

Zouma, I assume, is who you are talking about?

EDIT: Never mind, just read that Zouma should be available Monday and that Drogba has swelling in his ankle but Mourinho doesn't think it will keep him down long.

To be fair, that Derby side is a club that will most likely get promoted and they trotted out one of their stronger lineups. I use Derby in FIFA 15 so it was pretty cool to see us match up against them. I did get to watch them this weekend vs M'boro but that was mainly because I wanted to see Bamford play.
What was kind of odd was the reaction after the last goal by Schurrle. He scored after a lovely flick and through ball by Cesc to Remy whose shot was parried right to Andre's feet. He finished it and half of the players went to congratulate Cesc, lol. You can kind of see it here on the bottom of the screen at the 20 sec mark:

Are you reading anything into that reaction to Schurrle's goal?

With him being in the doghouse of late and with his seemingly "selfish" play recently, it is interesting to think about.

He's in a poor run of form, that's all I'm reading into anything Shirley related for right now. He's our most direct midfielder, we need players like him. We've seen glimpses of what he can do with this year's squad behind him, I just hope we give him a chance to regain his form.

I fully believe he will come good, he's a fantastic player.

Naa, it was just a little interesting to see but the captain immediately went over to him and he's the soul of the club.

Shirley has actually looked pretty good the last few matches. A little WC hangover + whatever bug he had + Willian improving has set him back BUT like Bravo said, he offers direct runs and a finishing touch that we don't really have from wide. IMO you only let him go if Rey comes sine he's still young and can/will improve.

Traore has been playing phenomenal as of late. He has 5 goals this week, including a brace today and a brace against Ajax. His finishing is on point.

I think we should let Salah go. I have more faith in Traore, and I think that Boga and Musonda are better prospects, and they're homegrown.

I'm pretty sure José said that if Traore could get his work permit, he'd be in the squad right now. He seems like he belongs.

I really wanted to see Atsu in the League cup the other day but he got hurt 5 mins into it. He's a yr or 2 younger than Salah but offers the same kind of directness and pace. I haven't seen him too much outside of the WC where he ran Beasley ragged.

We also have Piazon who can play wide, behind the ST or even in midfield.

Atsu is honestly 2 steps down from Salah, who himself isn't Chelsea quality. Most Everton fans I've seen talking about Atsu have a pretty poor opinion of him.

And yes you are correct about Jose's comments regarding Traore. He seems to rate him very very highly. Really excited to see what he does with our youth over the next few years. I think Jose is very serious about building a Manchester United style dynasty with Chelsea.

I really love Willian and her one of my favorite players in the squad, but José needs to bench him next game. Shürrle got more done in 15' than he did in 80'. I love his work rate, but we have enough defence. We could use Schürrle's goal scoring expertise.

It's all about finding the right balance and so far this year we're damn near perfect. Yeah, Andre is better going forward but he has a tendency to switch off on marking runs. You can't have that on both flanks. Tbh, that's why Azpi has kept Luis on the bench. Jose knows he's going to cover that entire flank by himself even though Eden has improved his defensive focus. It allows Bran to bomb fwd on the other side.

Andre's also the damn near perfect impact sub if we're chasing a game although I'd like to see Remy a little bit more but it's hard to argue with how the big Ivorian has been playing.

If Andre steps his game up he'll play. Only Hazard, Costa, Cesc, Matic, JT, and Courtois are undroppable.
