Yeah honestly, I think pretty much all Chelsea fans were wrong about that lineup.

Super unlucky not to have gone 3-0 up with those post shots by Willian. Without that bad giveaway that would have been a perfect game really. 1-0 heading to the Nou Camp is certainly doable, but with that away goal and Valverde as coach the next leg will be much harder. They are much more solid defensively than they traditionally have been, much more cautious.

I'm sure our approach won't really change too much, but we have a much harder task than it already would have been.

Willian was the best player on the pitch all night. He was fantastic. It is definitely a shame he found both posts because Chelsea were the better team throughout.

Definitely going to be an uphill battle now.

I always like to think of who the first name on the team sheet is. Who do you think it is for us?

        Eden / Thibo / Kante
In no order these 3 have to be the first 3.

Well that was certainly not an ideal result.

That second half was about as bad as things could have gone. Honestly, neither team was really great that game, the differences were that they were able to capitalize on our mistakes and we couldn't capitalize on theirs.

Imo we were the better team in the first half, and their goal even came against the run of play, but our second half was so bad we definitely deserved to lose.

I thought Morata didn't have nearly as bad a game as everyone seems to think, he goes down too easily quite often but he also still holds the ball up well, and is constantly spraying balls to our wingers and wingbacks with fantastic accuracy. I feel like if he got a goal yesterday then people wouldn't be saying half the things they are currently saying about him. He wasn't MOTM or anything, but I thought he mostly did the job we ask of him.

Also, how on earth are we going to put freaking Giroud on, and then not put ANY crosses into the box? That is literally the whole reason you bring a player like that on when you are chasing a game.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

Morata easily could have had 2 goals. The early miss was a good strike, just bad luck there I suppose. The 2nd goal was clearly onside and a terrible call.

Which leaves me feeling pretty salty. Did we deserve the 3? No, probably not but neither did United.

Since the game against Hull, Willian has been playing on another level.

I loved the way we started, a shame we couldn't finish like that.

                Citeh is next.

Conte's continues slamming of the board is getting old.

Kind of win/win for him really; either it works and the board gives him money to spend, or they get fed up and sack him and he gets to go back to Italy with a massive severance check.

In other news, Tbo's people have met with PSG apparently, so I guess he's not THAT homesick for Madrid after all.

From what I've read and heard, we actually already have post-Tbo plans. Obviously our record with young players is pretty bad, but supposedly we are planning on replacing Tbo with a stopgap GK, as we have two teenage academy GKs (16 and 18 years old) that are apparently BOTH considered the next big thing. The 16 year old was put with the main U-19 team pretty much immediately upon signing for us.

Very interesting stuff, though I guess that explains a little bit why we haven't been linked with any top keepers despite Courtois seeming to be on his way out.

I mean he's still playing for a blue team in England, so it's basically like he never really left.

                              Outmanaged and outclassed.

From no strikers to 2 strikers and yet we still tried to play it out of the back instead of letting Giroud do what he does.

Of the half-dozen or so counters we had Pedro stopped at least 4 of them and somehow managed to stay in while Willian was subbed.

Even when you tried to go over the top, the ball was always to no one. It was almost like Conte's instructions were "Do random pointless things"
