Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Just bad or good timing (depending on how you look at it) that we had 3 PL quality RBs all under the age of 22 at the same time.Comment

So is Azpilicueta going? He played a certain number of games that triggered a new 1 year extension. I always thought he was going to Barca on a Bosman. Is he still likely going but you get some compensation (small figure fee?). I've always liked him, solid pro.Comment

In time, his transfer will be looked on as one of the best value transfers in Premier League history. Not many knew about him since he came when Eden came after tearing up his knee and proceeded to win everything there is to win for club. Def a club legend.
In other news, we signed GK Gabriel Slolina from the Chicago Fire. Supposedly we beat out Real Madrid who beat both us and Pool to sign Tchoumeni although we could have had him last year for ~50 mil sigh.
I'd like to wrap-up Dembele, Kounde, and maybe a midfielder if we move on from Jorginho. We do have Gilmour who just re-upped, Connor Gallagher, and Ampadu coming back to us this year.
Should be an interesting summer.Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Interesting to see what happens with Gallagher. If he stays and gets little action, there goes his shot at a seat on the plane for Qatar. I wonder if he's asking for another loan, until January at least.
This will affect many players this season with the WC being in November. Should you not be in the 1st team reckoning for the first couple of months, you can kiss a WC place goodbye. I think we will see a lot more loans throughout the league this year, especially English players.Comment

I don't think there's even a slight chance that Gallagher goes out on loan again next year. He would have gotten minutes last year had he stayed since Kante and Kovacic are injury-prone. He'll def a lot of minutes for this year, not as much as at Palace, but with 5 subs we should see a lot of our clubs rotate more.Comment

Gallagher is the real deal honestly, he should easily fit into the teamComment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Lukaku business done & dusted. Right now, it has to be the worst transfer in Premier League history but on the bright side, props to the new ownership group for not holding onto to him at the behest of Marina/Cech and just moving on. I won’t pretend to know how the financials work, maybe Roman ate that cost or maybe it was amortized over the next few years [emoji2375]. Anyway, it’s done so it’s time to do our summer business.
Me personally, with all the talk of Sterling, Richarlson, and now Raphina I’d prefer
Raphina
Sterling
Richarlson
In that order
If we could get Sterling for ~25-30 mil I wouldn’t be mad. Yes, he’s technically inferior but he’s a proven double-digit league scorer for quite some time and makes intelligent runs to put him in position for tap-ins, something that we’ve been missing with Kai not being a natural striker.
Still, Raphina is a really good player, works hard, and is dynamic on the ball. We need ball-carriers and he fits that mold more than any of the guys I listed.
Still need at least one CB, one WB, and possibly a midfielder and striker but I think a lot will depend on player sales.

Chelsea actually have three strong contenders for worst PL transfer ever within the last 5 years lol
You guys should ban players from taking the number 9. It’s got some bad vibes over thereComment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
I'm assuming your 3 are
Kepa
Drinkwater
Lukaku
I'll throw in
Mutu
Shevchenko
Torres
Kezman
Bakayoko
Veron - 14 games for a $15 mil transfer
Had we hit on half of those we would have dominated the league in the mid-to-late 2000s
Oh well...the trophy cabinet is still fullComment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
He actually wasn’t that bad and somehow we made all of our $ back on him through his first loan and then eventual sale.
I can’t think of another player that has played for so many good clubs while never actually holding down a spot
Real Madrid
Chelsea
Juventus
Atletico
2 UCLs
4 League Titles
6 domestic cups
FIFA Club World Cup
Super Cup
His CV when he retires is going to be nuts.

Lots of money paid over the years for a guy who will score you like 15 league goals across two seasons lolComment

Wasn't Falcao #9 as well? I know he was only on loan but didnt Monaco want like £40 million? Dodged a bullet there!Comment

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***
Yea Falcao was but we had him here for like 10 games although we could have signed him after Porto and after he moved to Monaco before he tore his knee up.
Don’t forget about Higuain, he rocked the 9 shirt too but he never saw a pastry he didn’t like.
