Oh joy, the away goal rule strikes again. One of the few aspects of soccer that I struggle justifying/explaining/rationalizing to non-fans. Especially in this type of situation.

Watched the last 30 minutes of the Sounders/Dallas game. Have to say, I was totally unimpressed by FCD. They just didn't have anything. Terrible ball control and decision-making.

Away goals rule is fine in this case imo. Dallas were wack for that whole game, Seattle only didn't score due to comedy decisions in the final third.

          The better team went through.

Yeah, I'd rather see the away goal rule come into effect than penalty kicks.

I'll agree with that. It's just odd for a team to be rewarded for not being able to score at home.

I dislike the entire MLS "playoff" structure, honestly. It goes on forever. Why the delay between rounds? The final isn't until December..

There are no games this weekend because national teams are playing. The league doesn't want to force teams to play playoff games potentially without their best players (such as Robbie Keane).

I think that's the only weekend there are no MLS playoff games.

Or you could say they were rewarded for keeping a clean sheet at home and scoring on the road, which Dallas were unable to do.

I think the positive aspect of the away goals rule is it forces teams to come out and play a little bit.

Soccer is all about home field advantage and protecting it. I like the rule, even though people dont like it because its so "unamerican" but if you can go into someone else's house and beat them or score goals, and you go back to your house and shut them out or they score less goals then you did in the other game, you deserve to move onto the next round

                      Lol

Seattle was dire and that should have been a massacre. Also that ref was atrocious, Sounders players could have been committing actual murder on the pitch and that ref would have let it slide, or called fouls against LA for bleeding on the field.

still anybody's game in Seattle. If LA scores at least 1 away goal, I think that will be enough to get us through though. I doubt Seattle will put 3 on us.

NE will get yet another chance at LA in the final. Bring it.

Seattle were dire in both legs, scored two goals against the run of play but other than that had really nothing going in the second leg either. Definitely better than the first leg, but that's not hard to accomplish because they were garbage in the first leg.

Seattle were just too cocky. They played both games like "we got this boys, let's just wrap this up and go collect our trophy". I said before, Seattle themselves did nothing to prevent a 5-0 hammering in LA, only terrible finishing and magic from their keeper kept that scoreline at 1-0. Same thing in Seattle, would have ended 3-2 Galaxy if not for more brilliance from the Seattle keeper.

                                The better team went through.
