Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread

So as I am getting ready for this to be my first full season watching as many games as I can and cheering on Tottenham, I was wondering what are the main rivals for the EPL?
    I know
    Tottenham-Arsenal
    Man U - Liverpool
Man U - Man City (I am just guessing on this one)
But what are other ones that I should make sure to watch this season?

Pretty much I'd recommend watching any and all derby games, including the ones contested by teams outside the top

The Sunderland/Newcastle is one of the older rivalries and always pretty intense
Chelsea/Arsenal is always a good one
West Brom/Villa is a good one as well
West Ham/basically any team from London

I've never been to the U.K or have family from there so I don't have any personal ties to teams in the EPL, and I wanted a team that would be able to spend on the really big name players and that basically left me with Chelsea and United, and I won't support United.
So a Chelsea fan celebrating Arsenals FA Cup in his signature? What has this world come to.

Chelsea - QPR -- No team I hate more than QPHA. I would love to see them crash and fall all the way down to League 2.

Like Tim said, the Liverpool vs Everton is one of the best rivalries in the world. It's usually good for at least 1 red card. I would say Chelsea's biggest rival is Manchester United. No geographical ties like the Tyneside Derby or Pool-Everton but two clubs that have had the most success in the modern EPL era. Yes, Arsenal are Spurs share the same city but Chelsea's aspirations when Roman bought the club was for Chelsea to be perennial title contenders and you don't do that w/o besting United.

I think you should figure out on your own what team to root for. Don't do it just because of success, don't do it because someone on a forum sold you on it.

Me, for example. I am new to soccer/football. I don't have an EPL team, so I'm just going to try watching matches as a neutral. With other leagues (Bundesliga and Hyundai A-League) I'm going with some sort of tie to the club. I live in Brisbane, so Brisbane Roar are the local team, boom. Easy. Bundesliga, I was born in Stuttgart. Boom, VfB Stuttgart.

I mean, if you want to root for one of the big four clubs, then I'd recommend doing more than just looking at a roster, because from what I gather, rosters turnover a fair bit, so your reason for liking X or Y might leave to another club, and then you'll be making another post next season.
Good post, I am a Arsenal fan but Feyenoord will always be my first love. However it is tough to see our best players get plucked by other teams time after time when they qualify for Champions league.

Forgot to remove that, thanks for reminding me.

About derby games, Newcastle United vs AFC Sunderland is a really old rivalry and it should be pretty intense.

Instead of giving out our top 4 predictions, we should predict which four teams he's going to rotate through next.

I'm always a sucker for a good Tyne-Wear derby with Newcastle and Sunderland.

They aren't in the EPL, but pray for a Millwall-West Ham cup tie..... Pure joy.

When Moyes managed Everton it was always a joy to see them play Man Utd.

Yep, that's one where you get your popcorn out. Not for what's actually happening on the pitch though. Unless, of course, the supporters decide to start running onto it.

They want to fight each other so badly that they'll show up at the other club's Cup matches when they aren't even involved. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-Millwall.html

You think the Liverpool - Man Utd chants are mean, they ain't got **** on those guys... Green Street Elite basically was centered around that rivalry.
