Gomez is probably your worst CB right now, seems like he gets a pass from a lot of Pool fans because he’s young and was fantastic last year or whenever that was.

Lovren is comfortably better than Gomez atm.

Are you guys talking about World Cup finalist Dejan Lovren?

Young, English and didn't get punished much for his bad positioning, mistakes, and inexperience during that time. He also had a couple good games for England so the media went bonkers. There's a reason Klopp plays Lovren over him when healthy. I'll trust Klopp over people who are still angry at that bad Spurs match he had ages ago.

Gomez is going to be good, but the way Gomez and Lovren are treated by fans is glaringly different. I mean just look at this play in question. Gomez gets dribbled by easily, Keita stops tracking back for some reason, and VVD takes a bad angle and can't block the pass. You also have to give credit to the Genk players for the move. But nah all Lovern's fault, lol.

There was a better case for a foul on this play than Origi vs.United. The guy went right through his leg.

I'm about as comfortable with Lovren as I was with Moreno and Mignolet.

Listen, I'm not saying Lovren is a top tier defender. But he's among the best 3rd choice defenders in the league.

Saying he's as bad as Moreno is mad disrespectful, lol

Part of it is just the nature of being a defender. In order to be called a good defender(not even a great one) you basically just can’t ever make any mistakes at all, goalkeepers are judged similarly as well. Meanwhile an attacker can put in multiple 3/10 performances and people will just say he’s out of form if he’s normally scoring goals.

Like, I’d be interested to see the number of genuinely bad games Lovren has had compared to the number of genuinely bad games someone like Salah has had. I bet it’s closer than people realize.

Lovren, Moreno, and Mignolet was always my nightmare lineup. You just KNEW things were going to be a mess.

That's a good point. Defenders and keepers are definitely judged more harshly.

One of the "best defenders in the WORLD, Dejan Lovren." Hey, he put most of this on himself with that comment. Lol!

Hopefully Arsenal won’t get beat on their own pitch by the mighty financial powerhouse that is Vitoria SC.

Shame finances don't matter much on the pitch. Arsenal would fare better. Vitoria isn't a slouch club though, we should win, but I wouldn't expect it to be easy.

And it was the penalty they scored on.

20 fouls by Belgrade and 18 by Man United. 3 total shots on target. Sounds like an awesome match.
