Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread
This reminds me of by far my favorite thing a manager has said this season. When Dean Smith was arguing a call and was eventually sent off it wasn't known what he was sent off for other than general arguing. It was later revealed that the referee had no issue with his continued complaints but when he asked the referee "Did you get a juggling set for Christmas?" is when he sent him off.
Amazing.Comment

They were a little late to the party but they got the message
https://www.theguardian.com/business...n-super-league
JPM is a bank, they do not care about the fans or anything else. This was a loan for a business opportunity presented by a handful of extremely wealthy entities that they agreed to finance, that's it. They will pull out if the venture fails (not sure if they have pulled out already or not), the majority of the money came from one of Perez's links anyway (Saudi Arabia). The venture itself was poorly thought out and executed, and that is the ONLY reason JPM would pull out of this.
This is just free PR stuff from JPM, because they didn't really need to apologize for anything. All they did was agree to finance a loan for a business venture. JPM has been involved in a lot of shady things, but this wasn't really one of them.
Annoying that they got to weasel some PR out of this, because they really do suck a lot.Comment

It’s something, better than nothing.
I think the only hope of him selling lies in how for several years now Arsenal are losing money. He could ignore everything for years because the club was profitable.
Maybe, just maybe him realizing that a closed league, American franchise style is not going to happen soon plus the club losing money is enough for him to consider moving on and refocusing on his US, uh, holdings we’ll say.Last edited by Krebstar; 04-23-2021, 02:10 PM.Comment

Maybe not, but it’s a start. Plus, over the last several days things have been going on behind the scenes. KSE is legally obligated to communicate with supporter organizations to an extent and they’ve not done that. It’s a massive uphill battle, but there have been conversations between UK ministers and supporters groups.

Super League was his best shot at maintaining status quo while generating more wealth. For now his only option is to invest in the team. What a concept.Comment

That's today's game summed up. Soft, minimal contact leading to a guy rolling on the ground to win a penalty only for it to be overturned by mm of an offside call. Stupid all around.Current careers:
