I think the staggered games will stay, it’s whether the league decides to completely abandon the PPV aspect or go back to having every game on TV. Because I’ve been working in office through the whole pandemic I never got the full experience if you like of watching games on a weekday at 5:30 then 8:15 except a couple times but the weekends were awesome. 12:30, 3:00, 5:30 and 7:15 kick off times on Saturdays.
But the league has to abandon PPV surely. Subscription services like league pass are the most acceptable solution to make sure teams get their money because asking fans to pay £15 to watch isolated games is ridiculous. That they then chose to make some time slots PPV that previously were TV games (Friday night games and the latest Saturday games) was ridiculous and I know the main broadcasters here don’t want it because it’s those who get the brunt of it, not the league itself.
Even if they did maintain, as KG says, the usual schedule with 3pm kick offs, that’s fine, as long as at least one of those is on mainstream TV and there’s an option to watch a different game if needed. I’ve never understood the British rule of not showing 3pm Saturday games anyway and the one good thing I think COVID might influence is that rule might finally disappear.
