    Re: 2020-2021 English Football Thread

I think the staggered games will stay, it’s whether the league decides to completely abandon the PPV aspect or go back to having every game on TV. Because I’ve been working in office through the whole pandemic I never got the full experience if you like of watching games on a weekday at 5:30 then 8:15 except a couple times but the weekends were awesome. 12:30, 3:00, 5:30 and 7:15 kick off times on Saturdays.

But the league has to abandon PPV surely. Subscription services like league pass are the most acceptable solution to make sure teams get their money because asking fans to pay £15 to watch isolated games is ridiculous. That they then chose to make some time slots PPV that previously were TV games (Friday night games and the latest Saturday games) was ridiculous and I know the main broadcasters here don’t want it because it’s those who get the brunt of it, not the league itself.

Even if they did maintain, as KG says, the usual schedule with 3pm kick offs, that’s fine, as long as at least one of those is on mainstream TV and there’s an option to watch a different game if needed. I’ve never understood the British rule of not showing 3pm Saturday games anyway and the one good thing I think COVID might influence is that rule might finally disappear.

Just watched the PL Review Show. Former ref Chris Foy confirmed as to why it was chalked off. They changed the rule this year. You can now score a goal where the sleeve of your shirt starts all the way up to you shoulder. If I remember correctly, last year Mamadou Sakho scored when the ball went in off his shoulder. It was disallowed. They are saying that it would count this year.

So the VAR and the ref determined that the part of Bamford's arm that is offside, he could have scored with it. Ludicrous.

Seems like the Premier League has been off for ages. The international break has not been friendly to us for sure. Salah is self-isolating, a season-ending (or the majority lost) knee injury to Joe Gomez. Hamstring for Andy Robertson and a muscle injury for Henderson.

The staggered schedule is still happening.

          Robertson played against Israel today.

And in an apparent show of solidarity with Salah, I have also tested positive for COVID.

Spurs defending has been amazing so far.

It pains me to say it, but it's not even the least bit surprising or unexpected.

What a substitution! Ndombele makes way but to be fair to him, he played well today also.

Why Phil Foden does not start is beyond me! He's messing up my fantasy team being on the bench all the time.

I will say, though, that one of the reasons I hate Mourinho is the culture he's cultivated that when his teams win, it's due to him but when they lose, it's the players fault. It doesn’t only come from his mouth, either, but from supporters and even media.

It's fascinating and disgusting all at the same time.

Rodri struggles a lot in big games.

I think it’s more interesting when he’s LOSING, because then we get those epic meltdowns in his interviews. Lol!
