    It's basically what Kreb said.

Sounds very silly, but basically they just made the lines thicker (5cm each), and if the lines are close enough that they are touching then it's not called as offside.

Pretty easy and small change, but it makes a world of difference in the flow of the game.

      There's also this:

      https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC..._offside_call/

TL;DR - They sometimes use camera angles that can never prove what parts of the players are actually closest to goal.

It's bonkers that we went from what VAR could've been:

"Hey mate, you missed that, they were way onside/offiside."

        To...

"Hey, let's see if we can rule this one out with technology."

Nobody who was ever excited for VAR wanted the second.

They are doing a lot of things wrong right now all because of VAR. I think it's failed experiment for most cases. Even just the idiotic idea of letting plays go even if it's clearly offside just with the idea of VAR will see it so why stop play makes no sense. At some point a player injury or incident is going to happen that impacts the entire game when it was clear as day offside. None of this was the spirit of the game in the first place.

Personally, I'd just like to only use it for goal line problems. Keep the humanity in the game and let what's been working for 150 years stay the way it is until there is a much better system for this.

VAR has turned into "lets see what we can disallow with a blade of grass difference. Lets see who we can get sent off. Lets see where we can forcibly award a penalty."

Yesterday in the United - PSG game someone on United got a yellow after the ref allowed what should have been blown offsides on Cavani but the ref allowed play to continue since they instruct the linespeople to hold off.

I’m all for allowing the play to continue but there needs to be a call when the offsides/infraction is painfully obvious.

It was Verratti and the perfect example of the issue with it, as he only made the tackle/foul because play continued. So, it's this weird circumstance of he never takes that action if he knows it's offside, and if I recall correctly it wasn't dangerous or a hard challenge, just a standard foul.

              It's tough.

I should have just assumed that if it was a player on PSG getting booked it would be Veratti [emoji2363]

Chelsea v Leeds is one of those games that should be amazing for a neutral which means there’s a chance it’ll actually be a dud.

                  Doubt it, though.

Chelsea is going to be scoring goals against that back line and have been pretty solid defensively since moving on from the club’s worst ever transfer. I see it coming down to whether Leeds can keep up. Don’t think they will.

Brexit FC remain in 19th and Everton also drop points. That’ll do.

Now to see if Fulham can prevent City from scoring more than 5 goals.

How Chelsea respond to Leeds’ press is what I’m interested in.

Statistically, no team has pressed more than Leeds this season (by a good margin), and Chelsea are barely behind City as the team who has been pressed the least.

Will Leeds be open? Yes, but their press is unlike any other team in the league.

Chelsea have faced three other of the top five pressing teams so far this season. They won against Brighton, although seemed a bit lucky to do so, lost to Liverpool and drew against Southampton.

Chelsea do have the second best defensive record and best xGA, though.

Imagine you are lucky enough to get one of the 2,000 tickets to the first match with fans in almost a year. And then you are the one shown on TV wearing the chin diaper.

I was curious, and Leeds actually statistically press more than any other team in the top European leagues—barely edging out Bayern.

Bowen a yard+ offside and scores. Put the ******* flag up! Stupid *** rule.

That’s borderline red but alas ... no card.

                                EPL at its finest!
