I'm waiting for the inevitable defense and excuses to come pouring out of the woodwork. "Well, what are they supposed to do against this Man City team, they're on another level." blah blah blah.

Long may they settle for abject mediocrity.

What excuses need to be made for one team being clearly better than the other and has been for some time? 🤷🏾*♂️

Did anyone honestly expect anything different? Like come on now, lol

It’s bad and it’s going to remain or at least trend that way until the end of the season. They’ll probably “Ronaldo” their way to a few wins, especially in games where they’ve been outplayed, but aside from that…this is how it’s going to be.

True, I've never once heard an English pundit trot out excuses for Man United's poor performances under Ole.

Ehh I don’t pay attention to them so maybe that’s why I don’t put any stock into what they say especially when the evidence suggests otherwise. Why you put so much stock into those “pundits” and their takes, I have no idea lol.

But yeah, City is better and United is trash despite the “names” they have on their roster and has been for years. That’s it.

They were just simply outclassed, out managed, and out performed so this was always inevitable. They weren’t going to bring in Conte just because of the simple fact that this club would prefer to have someone that won’t ruffle feathers. The board would prefer having one of the worst managers in the EPL because he’s a Manchester legend. He gets to be the nice little buffer in between the fans and the board. So when we get furious, we do it at Ole and leave out everyone else. It’s a system of protecting the ones above by turning a club legend into a scapegoat. No one in their right mind appoints Ole in the first place unless the sole reason was “oy Ole is a good mate. Club legend. A good feel good story. Sentimentality will guide us to wins.”

I’d like to say I’m shocked but I’m not. Ole has reached above his own ceiling and should be thanked for that. The away from home unbeaten streak is very nice. But his personal ceiling is still 1/20th or what the clubs ceiling should be. He cannot take this club anywhere.

It starts from the top and we’ve known that for sometime(why THEY don’t, is a different story).

I don’t need to listen any “pundit”(These people are everywhere and if you think it’s bad here, go check out NBA Media/“Pundits” and see how they cover Lebron where most of them bend over backwards for him and the idiot fans eat that mess up)or someone from the team throw out that optimism BS when they’re actions on the field over the last few years have shown us enough.

But at least they finished in the Top 4! [emoji849]

UK football pundits are far worse than the NBA media (who are indeed bad).

I don't think they have. His defenders in the media, and in the Arsenal supporters have pointed out that their opening fixtures + the injury situation they faced during those matches. The squad that he's playing now is very different than in those first three matches.

I've heard far more of that than "well they don't have the players, etc." because frankly, what got thrown around a ton at the start of the season was how Arsenal spent more than anyone. That has been lined up as a stick to beat Arteta with.

Arteta doesn't have Jadon Sancho sitting on the bench because "he hasn't adapted" which seems to be code for "I don't know how to give him game time, so he can't adapt, and I don't really know how to use him anyway."

Also, the clubs are in entirely different situations. Arsenal have essentially admitted they're not trying to win now. Man United brought in Ronaldo.

The majority of them seem to be ex-players from the same big clubs (mainly United, Liverpool, or Arsenal) who rarely offer anything in the way of analysis. They're there to either carry water for their old teams (or dump on them in comparison to when they played), say something catty about their rivals and/or foreigners, or moan about the state of football today.

In NBA terms, think Magic's "insight" crossed with Pippen's bitterness, and instead of bending over for LeBron, they're bending over for Westbrook or Ben Simmons.

Or you could hop over to Spain and witness the insanity that is El Chiringuito. SAS and Skip give sober and thoughtful takes by comparison.

I’m surprised that goal took so long to be ruled out. Looked offside at first viewing. It’s really bad from Aubameyang.
