How many chances has Sadio squandered so far this season?

Mane deserved that one. Has been dangerous all game.

                    Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread

It’s almost like ‘new initiatives’ and intentional leniency of physical contact, regardless of the intent when implementing it, can consciously or subconsciously increase dangerous challenges.

                    Weird.

Is that the sole reason? Well, duh, no.

It’s a challenge you see on a weekly basis (there was literally one in the second half by Cooper on Mane). A player hooking his forward leg round to win the ball.

Just an unfortunate circumstance with Harvey changing direction as it happened meaning Struijk has forcefully scythed through his ankle as he won the ball.

It’s a red card and I’m horrified for Elliott who has been ridiculous so far this season, but that same thing would happen last season.

It would and has, but that doesn’t remove the absurdity of planned leniency regarding physical contact. The ‘initiative’ was apparently relating to minimal contact but after three weekends it’s clear far too much has been allowed.

Plus, I’ll just echo what I’ve moaned about for years—any sweeping, trapping, or scissor style tackle is dangerous and they’ll continue to happen due to lack of punishment. Right now the result is punished (broken leg) but not a tackle with no injury.

If Elliott stands up after that, not only is a red not given, but a yellow may not have been given and that’s ****ing embarrassing. It breeds the culture of attempting to judge intent instead of action—which is stupid.

Watch the replay—until Salah asks for help, play goes on and it’s just another new initiative weekend in the Premier League.

Klopp confirms that it is a dislocated ankle.

YeAh, it’s just one of those things. It’s a football game. Challenges are going to happen and some are going to lead to injuries. Just unfortunate but I don’t think it had anything to do with new, old, revised, or long standing criterias. Red was deserved but I don’t think there was any malice in it.

As much as I always want them to fail, I gotta say, Everton are a good watch. They were crying out for width in that team and they have a good pair in Gray and Townsend. A bargain for the pair. 1.75m and a free transfer. Doucoure looks a different player. That pass for Demarai Gray's goal was a peach.

So not a fan of Richarldson though. Otherwise yeah. They are fun to watch.
