Can't really understand all the Carroll optimism - £35m for a player who is still on bail for assault, has only played half a season in the top flight and wasn't even the top scorer in the Championship last year. Plus, he was offered to West Ham for £1m in the summer of 09 after a poor season - but Steve Clarke didn't want to take a chance on such a temperamental player and so told Zola to leave him alone. I know he is in form right now, but replacing Torres with this man is crazy.

£24m for Darren Bent seems like a bargain now.....

I'm with you, I'm loving the El Nino signing especially now that he seems to have broken his funk a bit. Adding David Luiz just made everything that much better, was really disappointed the other day when I read that the deal had broken down.

Bursaspor have Kenny Miller (who they just landed from Rangers) and not much else at Forward according to some Turkish fans. Should allow for plenty of playing time for Jozy.

I'm beginning to think Mr. Henry should have stuck to baseball. Overpaid for both Adams and Carroll and for what? So they can get a Europa spot. They could have gotten 3 or 4 players the caliber of Carroll and Adams if they waited until the Summer.

I love the deal for Liverpool. Torres didn't seem right, since even before the WC (injuries and all that too) and getting 50 million for him is just a ridiculous come-up.

Now if he goes and bangs goals left and right for Chelsea, they'll be kicking themselves.

Seemed like the time was right for a change of scenery.

I'm sorry, but 50 million for Torres looks staid and conservative when you juxtapose it with 35M for Carroll. The former is inflated, but the latter just makes no sense. Me thinks it has the stink of Emile Heskey from Leicester 2.0.
