well if your going for realism, nashville wouldnt be trading Rinne, and the last thing they need is defense, they are back logged on talented D men right down into the minors.
If anything Nashville needs secondary and primary scoring help, in my mind Rinne is a top5 goaltende rin the league and young enough to have longevity, to get him your looking at a 1st rounder two good prospects and a good nhl ready player.
Dynasty, I think you misread what I was trying to say. I was offered Rinne by Nashville, which got me thinking about how they don't have enough cap to sign weber and suter at the end of the year with rinne's big contract on the roster. I am not looking to trade for Rinne. I am going to look into trading for either Weber or Suter.
I agree with you that Nashville wouldn't be trading Rinne, but I think in real life, Nashville won't be able to keep both Weber and Suter.
i believe the asking price for suter will be a little less then Weber, so for Weber id say a near to the same package as Rinne, Weber is also a top 5 D man.
so first round pick, a good forward prospect with potential and an NHL ready d man at the very least imo, im guessing they would want someone to slot into the hole left by Weber as Ellis isnt nhl ready yet, but anything less then that would be ripping them off i think, you could move the peices around i geuss.
Nashvilles drafts well and they wouldnt mind more picks but they are not in a rebuild so they want impact talent.
Pretty much what I was thinking as well. I'm really hesitant with giving up Kadri or Colborne though, which I know I would have to in this deal. So I may hold off until the off season and see what happens.
Another good month for the team. I was able to go on a nice winning streak and create a nice gap in the standings of 5 points between 1st and 2nd.

The top line continues to dominate. It was a rough month for Kessel with goals, only scoring once, however he did put up 11 assists. Connolly and Lupul were putting the puck in the net. Speaking of putting the puck in the net, Jordan Staal exploded against Detroit, scoring all 5 goals in the game, including the overtime winner. He had 9 goals on the month, the same amount he had in the first 3 months of the season all together. Everyone else continues to perform at the same pace. I'm content with the scoring from the 3rd and 4th lines, however I would like to add some depth scoring before the deadline. Liles continues to disappoint, with 0 points in January and only 6 on the season, I am shopping him heavily. No luck with finding the right deal as of yet. Reimer and Harding continue their outstanding play, combining for 3 shutouts on the month.
Wow, you are doing really well with the Leafs. Keep it going..
And I know this is alittle late but I would agree with Dynasty on the trading package - you don't want to rip them off if you are going for realism. Just my 2 cents. :-)
Thanks man.
I'm starting to feel a big trade isn't the way to go right about now. I don't want to have to trade away a lot of my assets. See what happens with the trade deadline approaching.
Though I heard this idea on another hockey board. Put your best players on the block (not to trade them) and see what deal come your way. Once you review the offering(s) see if you can fit it with other trade worthy assets.
