It's very common for EA's leaders to have a lack of vision on what they want from their products while also doing everything they can to ignore the fans trying to help direct them with feedback. It's honestly sad that this how EA continues to operate. I'm not mad that they didn't reveal anything today. I don't "need" to see anything related to Madden. It's just another example that paints a very clear picture that there is loads of incompetence oozing from the decision makers. This is the kind of stuff that would even be shocking if it were an indie game run by a development team of 3 people. I've enjoyed Madden for the most part finally the last 3-4 years, but this is the kind of stuff that makes you realize a lot of the negativity thrown at EA is warranted. They literally can't even do a simple countdown correctly or communicate to their fans. No wonder there is hostility surrounding them constantly. They honestly reap what they sow.

I totally agree with this. But you also have to factor in their partnership with the NFL. Everything and I mean everything has to be approved by the NFL before it gets into the game or is used for marketing. I think a few of the issues that leadership have with getting Madden in a place where customers have a favorable view of the game is due to the NFL getting involved in EA's business too much.

Overall, AAA video game companies usually don't have leadership that is good because that leadership comes from a background that isn't from the video game industry. They usually are not connected to video game culture, don't know the culture, and only make decisions in isolation with other disconnected leaders.

Places like Rockstar make great games because their leadership has a connection to and understand gaming culture. 9 out of 10 times it has worked for them (like how GTA is always a well received game) but at other times it's gotten them in trouble (their reliance on crunch culture and making their developers work insane hours).

EA will never get to the point where they are beloved by the gamer community until they get people in leadership that are actually connected and understand the gaming community.

Sign me up for better Madden draft presentation. I thought the scouting / drafting part was well done last year as it was never 100-% and you would draft busts

SOFTDRINKTV also said the former NFL Head Coach guy, not sure his name off-hand, is taking over franchise. Said franchise mode and playbooks are getting a lot of love.
