Not every receiver can trigger a spectacular catch. That is based on traits. That said, if we had slot receivers refuse to 'go up' when thrown high point balls, that would mean INT's all over the place. Receivers will adjust to the ball, their ability to then make that kind of a catch is where the traits come in.

I'm also of the opinion that any receiver is 'capable' of making an incredible catch, regardless of how rare they may be. I'm just going to leave this here....

While I respect your opinion I dont think every WR is "capable" of making great catches. There are guys like Ted Ginn Jr. and Darius Heyward-Bey who don't have great hands, even run of the mill catches can be tough for them. Now I'm not saying they should attempt to make spectacular catches just that they shouldn't be completing at a high rate.
Also it's easy to look great making catches in shorts and t-shirts especially without a whole defense on the field, just saying.

You're making an assumption that guys will be able to consistently make aggressive catches, I think. We have to wait and see how it plays out.

Hell, ODB isn't the tallest guy at only 6', but he's shown a great ability to high-point balls.

I'm very interested to see how all of this plays out in the game. It could be fantastic, or it could be a disaster, depending on how it's balanced.
Completely understand. I wasn't saying small WR shouldn't be able to go get the ball, I just want it to be based on skills. Obviously guys like Steve Smith and ODB have that skill set, even a lesser WR like Brandon Lloyd has made a stake for himself making highlite real catches. I was just saying guys like TY Hilton aren't known for those types of catches and while he may make one every once in a while I don't want to see every Wr being able to make those catches consistently especially if it not really something they have in their arsenal.

Your right, but I'm basing it off the past with things like the David Tyree catch.

Wasn't Rex trying to point out that if Ginn Jr and DHB, if they go up for spectacular catches, their traits would kick in and might not come down with the catch?

Did I interpret that incorrectly?

Also, I don't think the sky would be falling if they caught a spectacular catch every so often?

Ok, well, we need to see it play out and if there are spectacular catches galore, that could be something that goes into a tuner.

I interpreted it the same way, the point I'm trying to make is that in the gameplay videos we have seen so far, every WR seems to be capable of coming up with these catches at a high rate. Now idk if it's bc of the difficulty level or bc the game was/is still being tuned, but I'd like to see rating play much more of a role. Now as it was already mentioned we have to wait to get the game to see, I was just trying to engage in discussion not saying any one person is right or wrong.
