And no, the way it is now is not a functioning coach mode. When you snap the ball in coach mode the QB will scramble, but he will NEVER take off beyond the line of scrimmage. You want him to run, then you have to move him yourself. So basically, all coach mode is is auto-pass enabled. Not even really sure why they call this mode "coach" mode. It's auto-pass mode plain and simple.

I wouldn't mind having to kick or punt (could just super sim that), but the lack of the QB running is a breaker for me. Especially if you are playing with a QB who runs a lot. Nothing like just standing there at the LOS and taking a sack when you have nothing but green in front of you.
Actually a true coach mode is simply calling the plays. In a true coach mode the QB should actually snap the ball themselves and kick and punt by themselves as well. A true coach mode requires zero user interface other than calling the plays. At least that's the experience I have had with other games that have a true coach mode.

With madden the closest we get is having to snap the ball and let the CPU take over by not touching the controller, still having to kick and punt as well.

I mean is that not a functioning coach mode? I know in NCAA 14 there is a true coach mode.

But is this unplayable in it's current state. You can't just call plays, snap the ball and let the cpu run everything?

Just asking out of curiosity.

Also in a "true coach-mode" the QB will automatically scramble or throw the ball away. In auto pass coach mode the QB doesn't do this or rarely does. I don't mind doing the kicking, but NCAA Football had it right. Don't see why it is so hard to put a true coach mode into Madden.

Re: Coach Mode '16?

I have not tried this yet but someone in another thread suggested that if you switch to a receiver (but don't move him at all) while in coach mode before hiking the ball your qb's scrambling traits will actually play out..

They will scramble then. The problem with it is the camera view just watches the receiver or HB, whichever you select. So you can't see what happened on the play.

You don't have to use player lock. Unless you mean the player lock camera and in that case I don't think so. I've never been able to find an option for it.

Figured that's where you were going with it. But no, it's not like that in Madden of course. It would be nice though!
