Since I'm already anticipating the "what about 2k" response I can only say that any guess as to why they've chosen to rebuild would be as good as mine. If you actually care seek out the relevant investor guidance as I imagine the matter would need to be discussed in some detail with their shareholders.
When 2K rebuilt NBA from basically the ground up for 2k14’s next-gen debut, it most definitely had an impact on that game’s success. It was clearly the best-looking launch title on either system at the time. It jumpstarted 2k’s basketball dominance on this generation of hardware.

If you asked 2K today if they regretted putting so many resources into the 2k14 next gen launch (with the breathtaking graphics, MyGM, Shaq and Ernie, Courtside player interviews and more), I have no doubt they would say “absolutely no regrets”.

Edit: and then ask EA if they regret trying to launch NBA Live next-gen with their code from the PS3 era. I’m guessing they’ll say “oh hell yes we regret that”

The lofty price tag for a next gen console to go along with the hefty price tag of next gen games is what has dampened it for me. I'm playing Madden through Origin Premier so the free upgrade doesn't apply to me because PC ain't getting the next gen game this year.

I'm not expecting a lot of improvement (other than possibly graphically) between PS4 M21 and PS5 M21; but this game has come a long ways since the dark days of the PS2/PS3 eras and I think that bodes well moving forward.

Not even touching on your opinion above (assuming your serious) but this is an absurd statement. The PS2/PS3 Era outside of the transition year game (06 I think) are some of the most critically acclaimed AND anecdotally loved games in the franchise. Adding this sentence really makes it seem like you don't entirely know what you're talking about.

The thread title is officially asking a specific question, and maybe the OP is actually curious about the responses, but honestly this is really just another vent thread.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I'm 100% serious about everything I said.

I 100% know my opinion diverges from many here.

I 100% don't care that it does.

I think it's basically going to be a shiny port with better load times. It's really disappointing they aren't using the next generation as an opportunity to fix the issues plaguing Madden

Interesting... so you know their plans for next gen? can you elaborate on how they're not fixing these issues that you speak of? If you have articles or gameplay that would be great to see as well. Since you're so confident in this you must have seen and read more than what everyone else has.
