If you've played the game then that's awesome man. That's what the thread is for. It's not for posting random youtuber impressions and links to trending hashtags about NFL dropping EA. It's an impressions thread - good or bad. But it's not a thread to dive into how EA has lost their way since the PS2 days and blah blah blah for the 10,000th time. We all know that. We all want EA to be better. We all want Madden to be better. Currently it's not so let's talk about the game we have.

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?

For me, it puts a little more pressure on next gen. I came in expecting more of the same for Current gen Madden 21. I think most people didn't believe there would be a jump from Madden 20 since typically final major release of generation, there's not much innovation. I haven't played it, but after watching videos, it still looks like Madden. I think issue is the combination of general hate towards Madden & exclusive License, lack of franchise updates & focus towards FoTF, bugs/glitches present. I think some had too high of expectations for current gen M21. Like when the first gameplay trailer dropped and people said graphics looked the same. I think they were already thinking ahead to next gen.

Realistically, I see next gen M21 as a higher graphical fidelity port. Where it takes advantage of next gen hardware, but nothing else "new". I feel a good next gen release would make up for the current gen release. I hope the modes aren't just a copy and paste. Do we even know what exactly transfers over to next gen with "Madden NFL 21 Ultimate Team binder content and Madden Points will transfer. Progress in certain Franchise modes can also be imported from current generation to next generation"? What is "certain Franchise modes"? Does it have to be cloud saved Franchise modes. Is FoTF a copy and paste on Next gen and does that progress transfer over?. I want to buy Madden, but i don't want to buy it because it's option only and "good enough"?

For me even if it is mostly a higher fidelity port, I would still be interested in M21 if they can set up a good foundation for future. If Immersion promises with the hardware benefits can be kept, take advantage of more powerful CPU to have better AI and Physics and not rely so heavily on animations, that will go a long way. So even if it is a port, if they can get the on-field product headed in right direction with improved immersion and gameplay, that's a good start in right direction.

When you're starting up a new franchise, there's a note that Cloud franchises can be transferred to PS5. Whether there are any restrictions or fine print on that remains to be seen.

I’m curious to see what it looks like and how it animates despite the game they released. That said if you enjoy madden and it’s gameplay in its current state, I can’t see how you wouldn’t like an upgraded version on more powerful hardware considering it won’t be a rewrite.

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?

It’s sounding like a port which to me would make it hard to get excited for next gen. Graphically I don’t see a giant leap from the ps4.

So if you don’t enjoy the game, it’s more of the same and even if you do enjoy it, it’s not looking like it’s going to be a game changer.

I run a game behind anyways. Just bought Madden 20 off eBay for $12 and waiting for it to arrive. Haven’t touched the series since 18 so I was kind of looking forward to it but the Madden 21 reception and the general feeling it’s basically Madden 20 has dampened even that for me.

If it is a port, I am out. I am not purchasing current gen game and am hoping for very big improvements for next gen. If I am only going to get the same game with faster loading times, retooled menus, and a few gameplay tweaks, I'll hold off on spending $500 for a PS5.

Same here. Gameplay has been great this year so I am looking forward to upgrading to PS5.

Re: Has the Madden 21 launch dampened your expectations for Next-Gen?

Those of us on PC have been playing with a higher frame rate and slightly better graphical quality for the last several years. Unless EA has posted somewhere that they have done something more significant, I have a hard time thinking it's not just the same game with slight higher res textures and maybe smoother gameplay because of increased framerate?

If anyone has links to any comments from EA about what is new about the PS5 / XBOX One Series X please post them. I'd love to hear more. The only thing I thought I remeber reading somewhere that it would have improved weather effects. Which it needs badly. I was a little irritated by this as I felt PC could already handle this easily but I guess porting to PC without updating much isn't important.

Peace.
