Just remember, if you want to run the game at 120 fps you have to have a TV/monitor that runs at least native 120hz, and I believe your TV will only support true 120 fps through HDMI 2.1 and most TV's don't even have 2.1 ports right now. Except for the newer ones.

To add to this you also have to ensure the TV HDMI 2.1 supports specifically 120hz as it’s still a grey area that allows TV manufacturers to market as HDMI 2.1 but not necessarily support 120hz but rather other 2.1 features like VRR or ALLM.

True. TV's need more official standards. Pretty much any TV can say it supports HDR, when in fact it simply only accepts a HDR signal, but is incapable of displaying true HDR because it doesn't get anywhere near bright enough.

F1 2021 has a nice touch where it will detect your display and warn you when entering into performance mode if your display cannot even handle it.

Re: Performance or Quality?

the 2 mode may very well be:

4k/60fps (quality)
1440p/120fps (performance)

and the reason no 1440p/120 on ps5 is because ps does not support 1440p. i doubt it's anything sinister as ppl here are saying (like xbox has a framerate exclusivity deal with EA).

if madden22 does not support dynamic resolution, and EA decided 1080p looked too bad versus 1440p/4k, they may have decided to opt out of 120fps mode on ps5 to retain the quality look.

Yeah, Madden has been 4K 60 for awhile. Performance is probably 1440 / 120

On the Xbox I’ve gone back and forth and on the field I can’t tell the difference except in cut scenes . On performance they are much smoother. But visually it’s really hard to tell.

Performance mode is crazy smooth... feels like a new game with 120fps
