Re: Pitbull's All-Madden Sliders

For the next match up (I'm testing like a psycho!), I decided to see how a pretty crappy team would stand up against a good defense. So I took the Ravens to pay a visit to the Browns.

Highlight of the first half was a 14 play, 77 yard drive where I just pounded it up the middle with Lewis. It ended in a 3 yard touchdown run by JL (missed Xtra point, lol) and it drained over 7 minutes off the clock.

I then proceeded to let them in with two touchdowns by playing some real s**t on both sides of the ball (Quarter defense, daring them to run - Suggs duly abliged with a 74 yard TD, then an INT in my own half which led to a TD drive).

They then had 1st and goal at the 1, late in the 3rd quarter, but I kept them to just a FG, only to have a sack, fumble, recovery, TD senario on the first play after the kick off. This put me 26-9 down with 9:37 to play. I then fumbled the kick return, another FG and the writing was on the wall.

I drove down into their red zone late in the 4th and a 2 yard Lewis run finished the drive with another 6 points, but it was too little, too late. One failed onside kick later and it was all over. I lose 30-16 to a Browns team that I should have beaten. Mistakes cost me the game and there were several huge swings in momentum during the match.

It was nice to have a game where I struggled to move the ball and was genuinely punished for sloppy play. I've never been so pissed and at the same time satisfied with a game. Stats below.

Re: Pitbull's All-Madden Sliders

The last three games, using my latest set of sliders have been quite interesting. I have won by 12, won by 9, lost by 14. The encouraging thing is that each game was totally different.

I had one game where I passed the other team to death. One game where the CPU lit me up through the air but couldn't run, and in the last game neither side could pass but both tore it up on the ground. All in all a good mix so far. Three games isn't a lot, but any noticable trends in the games should be identified and there were some constants that came to light.

PROs:

* All stats with the possible exception of Scoring and passing yards are right
in line with the ranges in the NFL
* Any comeback code involves a long unstoppable drive rather than one
gigantic play. Desperate goal line stands are also possible
* The passing and running game is there for both teams, but depends on the
skills of each squad of players.
* Sacks, Fumbles and INT are there for both teams dependent on the team's
players. I had 8 sacks and 8 INT in three games and gave up 8 sacks and
2 INT.
* Ridiculously good plays can be had through the air or on the ground but
must be worked for, dukes, spins, use blocks, etc. Big plays don't come for
free
* Generally, if the CPU comes up with a big play (there were 2 passes over
50 yards against me in three games) it is your fault and also won't
necessarily result in a TD.
* Time of possession was nicely balanced in each game as was the number of
snaps, between 110-120 in total not including punts & FG (119, 114, 110)

CONs:
* possibly too much scoring, especially from the CPU which always seems to
find a way into the endzone.
* The CPU often neglects it's main WR in favour of the 2nd WR as it often
finds the match up against the 2nd corner more favourable
* There wasn't a single dropped pass from the human controlled WRs
* Human pancakes are a bit too high
* The human RB doesn't really break tackles or fumble a lot
* The LBs will be amongst the tackles 4-8 per game but probably still not
enough
* The leading WR of each side doesn't have enough catches.

I'm in a poker game tomorrow night so I might not have time to test anything tomorrow, but the next match will see me taking a really poor team to play one of the best in the league to see how the results differ.

P.S. It has taken quite a lot of time and effort to do this thread (it's not just what you see here) so if anybody would like to take the time to play a game or two with the latest set it would be much appreciated. I might like them but it is hard to judge based solely on my own opinion. Cheers.

Brit- I'll give these a shot in the next few days. Although, I must say I'm losing faith in All-Madden. The computer offense just seems to march down the field and score way too often. But, I appreciate your hard work, thanks.

Re: Pitbull's All-Madden Sliders

Having been cleaned out last night at poker, and nursing the mother of all hangovers today, I think I'll spend tonight doing a little more testing.

Hi Aikman, cheers for the input. The game I just played has me wondering if these sliders are too easy. Let me know what you think.

I just played as the 49ers at the Pats and destroyed them 38-17 which is weird. I kept them to 3 points for the first three quarters. I think that I have gotten a lot better at defense recently and I find that using man lock, mixing up my defensive calls, and not pressing the A button until the ball is right near my defensive back has meant that I get caught out less often and give up a lot less of the big plays.

Re: Pitbull's All-Madden Sliders

So far there have been 222 points scored in the 4 games I've played. I think this is a bit too much. I will now try a couple more tweaks here and there.

I am going to put the time back to 12 minutes acc clock as I feel this might be best. The human WR slider goes down to 14 to promote some drops, which in turn will lower the number of scoring drives. I've also put the RBA down one tick to 12 to encourage fumbles, and stop the high scoring and ypc. And also Cpu tackling is now 19 for the same reasons. Human run blocking goes up 1, which will also help with punt and kick returns.
Cpu RBA is going down one to cause fumbles but human breakblock is going down one as is cpu pass blocking in order to keep the running game balanced.

They are subtle changes but could make all the difference in the balancing of the game.

Re: Pitbull's All-Madden Sliders

I took the Packers to play the Chiefs with the latest adjustments and the results were very interesting. The game itself felt excellent on both sides of the ball but there were new problems also. I lost 33-43

Firsty, because I put the run blocking up, there were loads of pancakes for my oline. Therefore I will probably have to drop this back down.

The WR's did drop a couple of passes and they also made a poorer job of route running and attempting to make catches which effected Favre's comp %

Dante Hall scored two 100 yard kick returns, which was down to the lowered break block, which also made it very hard to stop Holmes at times.

Because of this the score was once again high despite the longest play against me being a 36 yard pass. The break block slider also caused the better players to stand out. KGB was the only one getting pressure on Green and Barnett stood out in the middle.

There were 128 plays in the game not including punts/FG so I might go back to 11 minute quarters. Last year teams averaged between 56-66 offensive plays a game. I had 73 in this last game.

More thought required.
