Ian / Phil, does HB AWR do anything when you control?

I cannot seem to find the Quote right now, but I belive it was in his insideblog.easports.com blog that he said Awareness used to be a "catch all" stat that they have been phasing out of the game. i belive that it will either be gone in 10 o 11 at the latest. I do know that he said they want all the interactions to check their respective stat rather than awareness.

For example: Route Running vs. Man coverage

In LegacyGen Madden games it sure FELT like the HB awreness made a difference in how the O-Line responded. I can remember in 04 player video tests that I repeated myself where they took Terrell Davis [TD] and ran him through various practice "drills."

First the an him "dry." He had an awareness ratting in the 90s, but was old and slow by that point in his carrer. he would run multiple times in the same play and holes would open up for him and close slowley.

Next he would turn his awreness ratting down adn run the same play in practice. The hole opened up les often and closed faster.

Next he messed with his sped ratting and made him fast and dumb. Holes still wouldn't open up as fast and still closed faster but his speed made up for this and still got him solid yards.

Finally this player cranked his stats up to a fast smart player. The results you may suspect by now were that huge hole were opened up often, stayed open, adn his speed tore him through the D.

Now, Ian has told us this does not make a difference on the human controlled HB, but he hasn't informed us if it makes any difference on our O-Line or not. Who knows? Maybe it used to but doesn't any more on the NextGen.

The reason I remeber this test and really liked it was becasue when I drafted/signed free agence I would go for players with higher awareness over speed [depending on the descrepency] compared to my friend who would go for the faster guy only when concidering his options. My friend would be able to bust big plays when in the open, however, I was able to average more YPC and control the game better with my rushing attack. Maybe thisis all conicidence and I am just a better runner than he was, but this was our experiance. take it or leave it.

so awareness is now useless for QB and RB. just get rid of the whole rating if other ratings are overriding it.

I could've sworn that having AWR 99 was what made Emmitt Smith so good for me in Madden 2003, when he was rated only an 84 or something like that. He was absolutely a grinder in the 4th quarter in particular.
