That depends on what PS3 you bought. Yes for the 60 GB, probably for most 80 GBs and no for the 40 GB. Backwards compatibility was dropped for all newer PS3s as far as I know.

Re: PS3 Madden 2010 Potential Buyers

I own both systems, I tend to lend on the 360 side a little more, but I'm planning to get it for the PS3, hopefully it's just as good.

Not to start anything but I have read that it was the other way around....that the 360 was easier to work with and then its ported to the PS3....again don't want to start anything....

Re: PS3 Madden 2010 Potential Buyers

All I ask of this year's game on PS3 is parity with 360.

What irked me last year was the 'compressed replay animations' - where the animations play back in lesser fidelity than in gameplay. (Ball popping out, clipping, no ball rotation, etc) It had something to do with PS3's memory - either they give us the whole play at lo-res animation, or the last 8 seconds with full-res animation...a choice between crap or crippled.

I sincerely hope they've figured out the technical challenge to make this happen for PS3 this year. I understand that 360 is the lead SKU for Madden, but PS3 is not a weaker machine and should be able to match 360 step for step. Spend a little time with MGS4 or Killzone 2 and you know PS3 can handle it. Not a gamebreaker if they don't get it - but I admit disappointment if it's still broken.

About 360 outputting Madden in 1080p vs PS3's 720p - not really a gamebreaker either. It's my understanding that Madden is rendered natively in 720p on BOTH consoles...and 360 uses a hardware scaler built into the system to upscale it to 1080p. Yes, I'm a nerd, I've done the comparison - it looks slightly sharper. Big deal, no. Nice to have, hell yes. For the longest, I've been hoping Tiburon would have a group of guys who were just PS3 specialists that could figure out this kind of stuff.

Finally, with Madden NFL 10 on PS3 - this is the year integration with PS Home should kick in. That should make the online experience more interesting. It's not really my style but it could be a welcome diversion.

Also, we, on PS3 had to wait longer for patches then those on 360 last year... It would appear that 360 has got Madden in the bag... At least they did last year...

I prefer 360 so much, but I live in a PAL region so no draft classes for me :/
